Like I said, search for other transhumanism videos. I've posted quite a bit of rational anti-transhumanist thought there. I make no apologies for wanting to beat the shit out of these people, though. Someone should have done it a long time ago. Perhaps a good old fashioned chimp-like thrashing would revive their will to live and they'd turn on themselves, realizing with a shudder of dread that they've been gleefully advocating the mass suicide of humanity.
Transhumanism has made no progress with the usage of machines and humans naturally. This shit is a religion in it self. There is no evidence for these claims.

Transhumanism has made no progress with the usage of machines and humans naturally. This shit is a religion in it self. There is no evidence for these claims.
I don't advocate "replacing humans with machines." I advocate enhancing existing human beings with technology. I think most of this technology is going to be biological, though electronics may be a part of it.
How about eliminating aging? Increasing your sight, hearing, ability to think, memory, lifespan? Plenty of reasons.
Ya I agree with that actually. A whole new trace of thought and culture. New philosophies, science and art but a lot of what is happening with this IT crap comes from Ray Kurzweil's mouth. Machines replacing humans in IT development, Super god like computers that download consciousness and downloads humans and machines attaining equal rights with humans. This is the type of stuff I am against because to replace a human's idea or way of life with a machine is down right wrong. it is inhumane.
I understand and this will be a stupid question but why is it that the kurzweil's with their predictions sya machines will take everything over by being conscious and will attain equal rights with us humans. God computers where we can download consciousness etc why do these things get said? In my opnion it is anti human 100% and I find it quite frankly a ignorant way to view the world.
what do the Transhumanist's think our culture will look like? The human ideas like art, science, philosophy, and entertainment plus business like Entrepreneurship, What changes exist on the horizon with these new technologies? I know we will be a lot smarter but boredom is the root of all evil and if most jobs are done and replaced then im afraid a great depression will be in order.
the idea is utopia, i think this collaborative hive mind and super computer future would garner breakthroughs in the way of free energy, like cold fusion. I think its hard to imagine but we would be mind altered into a pleasure and happy state, while the government is almost automated, the enviroment becomes healing, energy free, food automated, little then needs to be done.
Maybe give a more detailed description. That was very vague. Would you say these men and women are humanist's? Is this really for the benefit of humanity or for machines and their history? I want to see AI to but I do not want to see loss of human dignity and meaning because of a few people's discoveries.
I don't see why those things would be lost, since few if any people desire an existence without meaning.
We have machines that pump our gas for us, but this didn't suddenly reduce the amount of work available. So long as future improvement and scarcity are concerns, there will be work.
It's also important to remember that scarcity will always exist. Even if basic survival needs like food are no longer scarce, something will be.
You Human Body advocates are disgusting and smelly. Humanity will evolve or die whether you like it or not. And if you are gonna beat the shit out of a transhumanist, then Good luck in losing!
yeah, I understand what you guys are saying (bramcorleone, nerdelicious5 and bridgerboy)I guess the logical part of mind is aware of this as well but my sentiments make it hard to accept it. It just sucks that I have to be the one to understand what so many other people will be hard pressed to even fathom. This forces my perspective of this topic to shift from altrustic desires to that of individual ones. =(
Ah! Your reference makes sense. The Shift, technological singularity, Nano-Bio-Info-Cogno Revolution, or The age of Scientific Mastery, amongst other identities, all point to the same observation of what is about to come. "Future Shock" seems to be amongst the first that will attempt to understand what society's reaction will be which at its most fundamental level will understandably be one of fear and disorientation. The question is then what can we do to bring society & ourselves up to speed?
Perhaps we should begin building a culture for these ideas addressing these notions head on via the media, sitcoms, movies, cartoons, etc. on a much more mainstream level.
That's all well and good but society and culture as a whole is really constructed at an interpersonal level. If you discussed these kinds of things with family, friends or just somehow with someone else who is interested in the subject and they did the same and they did the same then these ideas get woven into the fabric of society.
And then you'll see these ideas emerge in films, comics and tv by themselves (as they actually recently have done, I can think of HL2 where the combine are a race passed their singularity, and anime such as Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed.). But if you wanna contribute to that by producing any kind of media on your own that would be cool too ;]
well yes, I am aware of this interpersonal level of societal developement and had I thought that we were not already there then I would be suggesting that we discuss this at that level. However, this interpersonal level has already been done i.e. Ghost in the Shell and Appleseeed as you mentioned (I've seen both) and yes, we can assume that it will, of its own accord, become more and more mainstream should be desire this kind of information. You're not bound to other interests, only to your own. I don't care mainstream is going south, while that tiny percentage including me is going north. Sooner or later they should face it or disagree with it (due to ethical issues).
@odin422 It's true that with great power comes great responsibility. And that's why the current political system has to change into an more open system.
And example of such a system could be that there are two identical governments that depend on each other to take decisions and their only tool of communication can be viewed by all citizens.
I can't see any other great flaws with becoming a robot after that has happened though...
i dont think we would necessarily be robots. more like we would be connected to the Web in an advanced way.
like right now there is glasses that can be the next smart phones currently development is for a contact lense(check it out in detail). the army is developing that tech.
Also we will be more virtual than robotic, creating a economy in a virtual city like the show CAPRICA and movie GAMER. currently there is PS Home using the genesis of that.

No offense to stamp-collectors; it was just an example.
