  • wish there was a sideview of the bar path. what is the difference in a jm and face press?

  • the retard at 3 mins 20 sec.. weights obv to much

  • i do it pretty much the way the first 2 guys do it, cept I use a closer grip. not sure if thats a good idea or not. but thats how i do it.

  • love tates version the best, probably because my leverages are fairly similar

  • "dont cross your feet" 3:30 OMG FUCKING CLASSIC

  • 4:55 thought the plate was gonna come off

  • daves HUGE gotee is great

  • i like the way louie does it

  • Easy way to understand the grove: imagine a close grip pushup turned upside down. that's basically the groove of the JM Press.

    half extension, half press

  • Is this called JM press because when you lower the bar it makes J movement?

  • No the exercise is named after JM Blakely a former westside lifter

  • that 'third guy' is a world record holder.

  • you mean matt smith.

  • that third guy had no coordination. the bar was just going everywhere, tilting, shaking around.

  • keyboard critics....gotta love em. thats matt smith....

  • is this similiar to a skull crusher? sorry if this sounds stupid i've only been strength training for a lil while.

  • The JM is from J.M. Blakely, the guy who made this exercise popular at the Westside Barbell Club, not from the movement of the bar. It's really a tricep exercise and not designed to work your chest or shoulders but Blakely himself says you can still get great results even if you don't do it exactly like him.

  • such fail in this post

  • Still confused. But will learn the proper form steadily after watching some more videos.

Thanks for this. Really got to know more than I knew .

  • everybody is swaggerin up there like they own the place..until dave tate checks em!

  • Cool! I like it.

btw nice RHCP in the background

  • wow, did this today, worked really well.

  • Would you reccomend going heavy on this exercise?

    5 rep range.

And is this the best for tricep strength? if not what is?

Thanks anyway big fans thanks for the vids, from Celtic Barbell Wales UK.

  • For strength definitely go heavy. This, closegrip bench and dips are the three best exercises for triceps. Keep the reps low when going for strength. Good luck.

  • Cheers mate.

  • jm press isnt great for max effort, better for repeated effort. and for that higher reps are better, aiming for hypertrophy around the elbow. the heavy, low rep stuff is done for max effort.
