@KevDawg19 ISO 4000 is not a problem with 5D Mark II... I can use ISO 6400 with my 5D Mark II and still get excellent pictures. Full frame is the shit! =)
@MrSchloban Damn... must be nice... loll My 60D shows the noise in my pictures once I reach ISO 2000 :S... Maybe it's because of the crop sensor? who knows lol. I still can fix the noise in photoshop though, but ISO 6400 on 60D? Forgetttttt it I don't even bother lol
@KevDawg19 Yes, it's wonderful! I know, I have the 60D also and it's a huge difference. It's exactly like you're saying - it's because of the crop sensor. A larger sensor will deal better with low light, better with noise, shallower depth of field and much more. Now that I've gone full frame, I'll probably never go back to crop sensor =)
hi, at first i need to say, you are so gorgeous, thanks for your nice video. i have a question for you, can you give me an advise, which one i should buy first for wedding photography between these two lens, is it 24-70mm f2.8 or 70-200mm f2.8 canon L series, i love both of them but i need to know which one i should buy first, fyi i am also going to buy 85mm f1.8 for protrait. thanks a lot....
Hello, Great video do you think this lens with canon 7D would be good for sports and family functions , thanks for your time and information you might have.
Thanks for the review. I'm really considering getting this lens. At first I was going to settle for cheapest 70-200mm of all, but the 2.8 is definitely the way to go.
buahahahaa ... the fact that you wasted a whole minute or more trying to justify your decision of not buying an IS model tells lots bout your insecurities and lack of confidence!!!
Seriously the review is for a non-IS version lens, end of story ... I couldnt even bother with the rest of your review seeing what a pathetic wannabe loser you are.
I am an amateur photographer and would like to know why would someone buy a fixed telephoto lens? I own a 50mm f4 and a 24-70L, however I can't see myself buying a 200mm fixed. I would assume the subject in question would always have to be always placed at the same distance; with digital photography and cropping, the possibilities are greater, but with cropping you may end up with a not so sharp picture. I would really like to read your comments on this.
Also, one more thing I'd like to add for those who are interested in buying the IS model of this lens...it's not $1000 more (USA) it's $500 extra. The IS retails for $1999 unless you want the NEW "IS USM II" which is $2500 (USA)
Even with the Canon 5D Mark II the aperture of that lens still is limited under low light condition. I wouldn't use it for paid wedding use if the church doesn't have enough light. Bumping up the ISO on the MKII is great but it's not 100% perfect.
Also, lens I would slap that lens hood on just to protect the glass..unless you have a nice thin filter on it already. Just my humble opinion:)
I'm planning on buying the IS II this weekend since the price is down to the $2k mark. Since you've had it for a few months would you say the weight is a negative factor? And is the f/2.8 worth the extra cash?
Great review! Looking to buy this lens as well! Hope to get it soon! BTW, your the hottest lens-reviewer on YouTube ;-) Looking forward to see more videos from you!
so I just spent 6 mins and 2 secs watchin you talk about your new lens and the audio didnt even match and i keep hearin the birdie, probably ur twitter :P
@whiteanthurium I got my 70 -200 IS II this weekend woo what a lens, razor sharp images and fast the IS actually works great, a little disappointed on the fact that my camera 7D is not a full frame, and the actual lens configuration works out to be more like 112 - 320 mm when you factor in the x 1.6 to compensate for the non full frame. It's just crowds me, I can see that it will be hard to work indoors with this configuration. Looks like I might be going for the 5D or the new 1D,
I have the older IS version of that lens and I use it all the time for wedding photography! It's one of the best lenses ever.... Enjoy using it and don't be afraid to put an extender on that bad boy!

That is a great lens for concert photographers as well. 2.8 is fantastic but the lens is a little big for outdoor photography so I use the 70-200 F4

I'm selling my 70-200 f2.8L and getting the IS II.
I feel it's THE lens to invest in and keep for many years to come.
I do love the non-IS version and i've had a terrific time using it...
however the reason why I'm upgrading to the IS II is not because of the IS,
but because of the outstanding IQ from the 5 UD elements and 1 Flourite element in the lens.
Couple the IS II with a 5D Mark II and you've got one kick-ass system. :D
zrsgamboa 10 months ago
i have this lens for wedding photography too, 70-200mm F2.8 Without an IS is still good to go... Sharp and has a good bokeh ^^
