I thought it was danced quite well and there was obviously a great deal of choreography that went into it, but I've been more moved by a number of other, less complicated routines that Travis and Ivan have done.
Like I said, though, I don't have a background in dance, so I might be missing something dance enthusiasts see quite clearly.
ya, i think people having a dance background would definitely appreciate this more. After you've seen A LOT of routines, you can get tired of seeing a bunch of flashy stuff. Its easy to make an impressive piece with a gimmick. Its so great to see something like this that is just straight up dancing. the fluidity, technique, and the prescence that the dancers have even when they are just standing or walking is really what makes this a standout.
a background in dance would probably help you understand the sheer brilliance of this piece....whether it moves you or not the piece is gorgeously crafted and the strength of the dancers is amazing. especially thinking about the history of dance, this is truly something special
I love how the boys leave one by one at the end, and how the girl finishes it off so beautifully. It was so busy but not at all sloppy and messy. It gave me the chills =]
I just want to say that DWDE is an amazing studio and their competition numbers are the BEST!!! They aren't like the typical competition numbers that are just full of tricks, turns, and some dancing. THE DANCERS DANCE and if any of DWDE students are members of this site, yall are briliant!
This piece is mesmerizing. It's absolutely breathtaking. Great dancers don't always translate into great choreographers--that certainly isn't the case with Travis Wall. He's brilliant.

I was also at the pulse where they performed this. Unfortunately I missed seeing the piece in person because I was backstage (they were last, and they brought us onstage after it). All of the judges were so moved, and they all commented on the one black girl. I wish I could've seen her.

wow, just found this video on accident and am speechless, wow!! travis is still so young and is already choreographing pieces this intricate, well-thought out, and gel perfectly, i cannot even begin to imagine what his future is going to be like. heck, i'm only a little bit older than him and can not even fathom creating something like this right now. i agree with my dance history prof, dance is preparing for a huge upswing right now and i think travis is the one that capable of leading it!!

Honestly! Where would someone even begin to chereograph a piece this intricate, layered, and precise? All the details are genius and so well placed - take something out and the whole thing falls apart! Time stops during this piece, I swear.
I totally agree. I'm an instructor, and I couldn't even begin to choreograph something so busy and still keep it so flowing and beautiful. It's brilliant.
