I make quite a few errors on TS4, cuz I go for the perfect full power shot plus hit that inside-out forehand, is dis pos on GST2?
You got this for PS3? have you tried the MOVE.....tried it on the demo and it was terrible. hoping MOVE support would be fully implemented here.
seeing sum other comments, some of you guys say its impossible to hit aces on TS4. I play online in 3 SET 3 GAME super tie break matches, I hit avg 8-10 aces using roddick.....some times more depending on your opponent.
@matty89ng fair enough. I just remember being able to slice all day without worry with various players as I had a defensive style on that game, the ball going out rarely occured. I have it on 360 haven't used any motion controls but I can only imagine them being any use to a casual user.
I do think Grand Slam Tennis is like Top Spin though in the sense that serve and volley is king if the person you match up against is an expert at it.
This demo is so bad its as bad as virtual tennis 4......the movement is unrealistic and the ball hardly goes out of court....p,us drop shots are too easy to make.
Safe to say Top Spin 4 is way better...in all most areas, GST2 just has better graphics.
@matty89ng I've got the final game and your 2nd about about the ball hardly goes out of court is how I feel about Top Spin 4. There are way more errors in the final game than in the demo maybe not enough to leave most satisfied but way more than Top Spin.
I think Top Spin 4 is probably a better Tennis sim but I'm enjoying playing Grand Slam Tennis 2 more and it could be because it's got a mix of arcade and sim.
Top Spin 5 on the other hand could blow it out the water :)
@RainmakerHD Fair point I'm waiting for the game to come out before leaving any final thoughts. It's a mix of sim/arcade for me which is why I've enjoyed it so much it has a bit of Top Spin/Virtua Tennis all in one game. They are trying to sell it as a sim though so people will be let down when player shots etc aren't portrayed as accurately as they could have been.
This is overall bad, the sound of hitting the bal is realy fake, and the players run 3x as fast as normal... the strokes are looking awfull... Nope... I will stick with Topspin 4!
@ronnie515y I have to agree but just general gameplay is more enjoyable for me in GST2. More error in shots etc which just doesn't happen in TS. Hopefully the final game has better animations/actual player styles.
Can someone explain why Top Spin is the only tennis game which can manage to effectively replicate the players techniques?
Grand Slam Tennis 2 looks like it has brilliant gameplay, graphics and commentary but what i have noticed from this video is the flaws in nadals forehand style.
Nadal has a trademark forehand swing where he whips his racket behind his head, this game doesn't replicate that from what i can see ?
But other than that, the gameplay looks quite good.
@Mitchellturner7 My first assumption would be they got some of the players to come in for animation recording. And the GST2 may have just got some standard Tennis pro to get the basic animations down instead of getting Nadal or whoever to come in themselves.
Perhaps something that will be in the final release or something they'll get done for GST3 if there ever is one.
some things I noticed after playing for DAYS ON END. Nadal makes more errors than Djoko, also he comes to the net pretty often, and although I've developed a system of beating him there (sometimes) it feels like he's a bit too good at the net, even with the errors he hits.
And although Djoko has been a beast this past season, I don't think he's supposed to be an all-rounder, he's pretty much like Nadal; defensive baseliner. He shouldn't (nor should Nadal) come to the net as often, or be as good.
@philippleite Noticed the same thing actually (started playing on Superstar level) and the best way to win points is playing Serve and Volley + Coming to the net in general play and then doing drop shot/top spin volleys. They are insanely good at pulling it off, imagine how good Sampras is going to be in the final game (he was insane in Top Spin 4 as it is)
Agree with your general assessment on how they've designed the players attributes (Top Spin) is far better in this sense.
@TheM1ssingLink Yeah lobbing is not effective, but you can try push the opponent to the side and pull off a passing shot, otherwise it ends up as an easy smash point. I've pulled off at most ONE lob winner. Drop shots are very easy too, but I guess its balanced with the players being able to get to every one that isnt insanely wide.
Serving is nice, the fact that you can ACTUALLY HIT ACES.
And yeah, Sampras is going to MURDER at this rate, especially since lobs are ineffective.
@TheM1ssingLink It plays a lot better than top spin 4, a little faster, smoother, although the serving takes a little to get used to, the timing and all... then the two slices don't look like slices at all ha
@philippleite Yeah I haven't checked since I found out it was removed from the 360 marketplace. I assumed they were editing player stats or using different players in the demo (when they re release it) as for your opinion on the game agree with your comparison to Top Spin 4 it's a lot more fluid GST. The slices are weird but I think it has a lot to do with the inferior animations to Top Spin which is why it doesn't look as convincing.
@ognaka There are plenty of things that GST2 does more realistically
For one, you can get aces here (damn near impossible in TS4)
Animations are better (for the most part) in TS4 yes
But that business of the players sometimes not reacting in TS4 when you press a button, or the player being incredibly slow or giving up sometimes before the ball has bounced is ridiculous.
YES drop shots are too easy, the players move a little too much here... but it has impressed me more than TS4 so far.
yeah ok, but by only seeing the way the players move on the court, you can see that its not even close to realistic. its just to much arcade. just like virtua tennis. the only nice thing in this game are the courts. not only center courts. but hey. btw you can hit aces in ts4. right stick serve.
sooo, are u saying that gst2 is better than ts4? dont get me wrong. im a huge tennis fan. i watch the aussie open live. and i live in holland! i think i will buy this game, but i also think that i will trade it the next day for another. top spin 4 is for me the better one. btw, u have ps3? ifso wats your psn name?
Im playing this now on xbox. How do you get power in shots? Im trying to use the new racquet control system, which is good, but much like fifa 12's defending, wont appeal to some, but will take a while to get used to for most who do, i fall into the latter. What did you use? Do you know what is needed to get power in your shots in the racquet control system? Thanks :)
@AstroNadal94 I tried using it but the shots didn't go in the area's of the court I wanted them to. That and as you've noticed yourself the shots just felt weaker I believe if you search for a racquet control trailer you should find control tips by the developers of the game! to help you out I prefer teeing up shots with the buttons to be honest. The power generated from the analog stick just didn't feel as natural for me.
@TheM1ssingLink Yeah exactly i noticed that too, that i could never get the right direction using the analogue stick. Power is the biggest issue i had with it though, i also found myself mid-game switching back to the standard buttons. Will have to scoop up a trailer related to it at some point. What you think of the game? Apart from the power issue with the new system, i quite like it. But i agree with everyone else here on the subject that nadal's power isn't high enough. Needs fixed that lol
@AstroNadal94 I actually think it's the best tennis game I've played funnily enough. Top Spin 4 was until I tried out this demo and I don't like that game as much because shots are over accurate/ and power shots can be used continuously there's very little error put into the mechanics. Something EA has added (poor timing) and you're easily punished.
As for Nadal yeah it could be one of the reasons the demo was removed attributes were incorrectly given.
@TheM1ssingLink Yeah Top Spin 4 was quite flawed, but i still think its the best tennis game out, until this one is released of course. Yeah EA seem to have the poor timing thing spot on. It was in Top Spin 4 but it didnt work well i don't think. It didnt make much difference i think. I could still beat top players with a created player whilst hitting a very poorly timed shot. When i played earlier and could have got a winner down the line, but timed it horribly and hit the net. Well Played EA
@Hamo2664 They removed it after posting it up on the 360 within a few hours I believe they've delayed it for some unknown reason luckily I downloaded it before it got removed. Not sure if it was even posted on the ps3 but seeing as they removed it on 360 I can assume they delayed it for ps3 as well for a later date.
