@BLADEOF4 there's no doubt that the gap concerning specifically semi expert and expert is smaller these days. d7000 is perhaps all many of us need. check out... freedslr . co m remove spaces and get a way to win a new Nikon D7000
I very much doubt Scarlet's picture quality will be better. Actually no, i'm possitive it won't be. What it will be is a dedicated movie camera, with all the advantages and disadvantages that come along with it (control, ease of use, fps... price, low light). But if you're thinking of using the 1D as a movie camera, you'll also need to invest in extra equipment. Bashing one or the other is pretty useless.
If it truly does that quality at 6400 - i'm the first buyer! Just back from Samy's Camera, will test it after Xmas... they got all toys and focus pull gear already... Talk soon!
read the spec and pro photograher reviews, the 1D Mark IV definitely shoots better than the 7D, the sensor is larger. plus it's sensor technology is far better than any DSLR/videocamera under $25,000. you can wait for the RED Scalet, but thats going to cost about $35,000.
You mean $4,750. It's also capable of shooting 3K at 120 FPS/100Mbit raw video. You know nothing sir. Red will make Canon's camera's look like child's play.
Do you know if the Red Scarlet is already available? I can't seem to find ANY info on availability and where to get it! Let me know if you know anything!
Yea I googled, but it's been in "to be released" status for the past year...I already thought it was out! haha... I guess I need to read up some more, but I couldn't find a straight answer....PS any idea, is it JUST the brain for $4-5K? Or is there a lens included? Thanks!
Mhmm, that's not completely true. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. You know nothing, sir... You need to readup. Also, they just said the price will probably be upped as well...
It Definitely will be better. The point is IF RED Scarlet is priced anything like RED One for a complete camera(not one part of a camera retard) it will cost alot more than Canon's 1D Mark IV, Plus RED lens are ridiculous prices also.
I would assume somewhere within the range of a gig a minute of filming, judging by the amount of detail it takes. You'll more than likely want a 32g card at the least to to have more than half an hour's worth of raw footage.
i use both D3 and 5dM2, Nikon for landscape and sports while Canon for portraits. Nikon lens are just too sharp and too high the contrast for portraits. High ISO? Surely Nikon!
This camera is going to be a huge seller. I can see alot of companies and individuals upgrading their Canon Mark III's. The price of the EOS 1D IV will have Nikon D3 users question Nikon, over the over pricing of the D3S when it is inferior to the 1D IV.
The Canon EOS-1D Mark IV camera will intrigue professional photographers in virtually every category from photojournalism and sports through nature, wedding, portrait and fashion to commercial, industrial and law enforcement.
Great video that really does a great job showcasing the low light/low noise capabilities of the Mark 4. However, I feel that canon has just now caught up to the Nikon D3 (and this from a big Canon fan). In many ways the Mk4 is the way the Mk3 should have been, not the movie mode but things such as the auto-focus and VGA screen (the Mk3's screen just sucks) should have already been in place. I have a bad feeling that the Mk4 will be blown away when the D4 comes out.
Hey Im trying to shoot a night scene with the Nikon d3100 can you tell me what setting I need to make it look this clear!!! Someone please help

Breathtaking video quality and production! why not? you can shoot the whole movie with this one!
I was gonna buy the canon 7D but now i'm confused cause I believe this camera shoots better in 1080 24p.

Wait for the RED Scarlet! Not as good in low light though.
Elvarks 2 years ago
@Elvarks Does Red Scarlet have a fixed lens? I tried to find info on but couldn't find any. If it does then it can't compete with the 1D Mark IV.
allanaubie 2 years ago
There will be a interchangable and a fixed lense scarlet.

I completely agree with you, no doubt this video show's off the low light capabilities of the MK 4...BUT features like the amount of focus points...
I mean Nikon has had this sort of technology for nearly 3 years now (51 points)
When the D4 comes out it will be groundbreaking±!!!!!!!!
