@dss103 I am thinking of playing through it again, i already beaten it twice with Hawk as main, and Kevin as main. I really liked the end battle with Hawk.. but i can't decide if i want to beat the game against Archdemon again or try the Dragon Emperor storyline..

@Lovz2killz the best party for first timers is probably Kevin, Lise(Riesz) and Carlie(Charlotte). But it's up to you. It is predicated on how you develop them.

@Lovz2killz I know this is a old comment but i have to say for first timers they should use Angela(cuz most of the time she does more dmg then any attacker with her spells)Lise(cuz she can stat down enemy's or stat up your party)Hawk(his traps and magic stat down the enemy)if you have that combo you can make enemy's useless and they wont hurt you if you do that by the time you are lv 50 you'll be doing 999dmg(max dmg) with Angela's spells your other 2 will be doing that with there special

@LeonardLayten I usually go with Kevin, for his consistently high damage, Angela for her massive spellpower, and whoever I want for a third. Usually it's dark-pathed Carlie for debuffs, Hawk for the same reason, or Lize because she's just fun.

@MoonshadowKati yeah Kevin is badass but I think I prefer Hawk tho cuz he makes up for dmg with speed and his stat down stuff makes him better,Kevin doesn't really have a good set of magic his light classes is great for healing and dmg and his self str boost is awsome (MY fav. party is Angela-Rune Master,Lise-Star Lancer,Hawk-Wander)

@LeonardLayten Kevin and Hawk attack at the same speed, as far as I know. My third is usually a stat-downer, so Kevin usually buffs himself and tears enemies to shreds. I totally like Hawk, though. Pretty boys are my kind of boys. By the way, this conversation has prompted me to restart SD3. I picked Hawk, Angela, and Duran (I never pick Duran, so why not?)

@MoonshadowKati Duran is awsome do Paladin or Lord those 2 classes are his best in my opinion his dark classes focus on saber spells not that great really and+ you get shields on his light classes witch is extra def. and magic def.

@melvoin wow i can't believe you don't notice the huge similarities between the two games music tracks. yea, both are composed by hiroki kikuta, and i would have to agree with you that this soundtrack is greatly eclipsed by secret of mana's. i still believe this game has a great soundtrack, but secret of mana was just flawless.

Well you get a different story with each party, branching class paths, I think that makes up for it.

Well yah but if they woulda just added those things it coulda been easily the best top 5 RPG of all time...I could see why they wouldn't wanna completely replace the original though which something vastly superior. Just like FF and Lufia series each sequel offers an advantage and disadvantage to it's prior game.

Still if I had the time to play decent lengthed RPG's I'd never play this over it's original...but I guess that's a contridiction against my point right there :P

No they aren't, there isn't any weapon levels or spell levels of the short like in Secret of Mana original. I'm not talking about that classification crap either "oh this brand new spell is a lvl 2 spell and Evil Angela can get lvl 3 spells" no no no, I'm talking about actually casting a spell and it gaining strength each time you cast. Same with weapons.

Well there's quite a large selection of weapons.... and if you increase your magic related statistics when you level up you hit harder, I suppose that's not exactly the same, but they delivered in most other departments, right? No not really, firstly the original has about 20 songs more, secondly besides a few select songs those 20 songs more are better than the majority of the tracks in SD3.

The only better feature is an attack won't pause up the music, that was always annoying as hell.

And even though those tracks are great they can be easily compared in greatness to the Boss theme and Meridian Dance in original.
