Does anybody know what the instrument near the beginning of the song is called, the one which looks like a shield and that creature is using a brush to get that metallic effect?

@OmegaNexus1 I believe that is a big-ass ride cymbal made in Istanbul and then its compressed to fit into animation form and then hung sideways with a bracket and foam sponges to secure it and then the little creature guy is from Japan and he uses a Meinl wire brush to brush it up and down and then it makes the shh shh shh sound. Hope this helps.

I'm also assuming that to get the progressively louder sound effect they simply increased the volume on the channel which the cymbal was playing on, which I previously thought was the cymbal's resonance increasing.. or something like that. Anyway, it sated my curiosity, thank you!

@ethro11 it's not a SA thing. This "game" is played worldwide as far as I know. Germans are especially fond of it for some reason. Not sure about SA, but it often includes the person getting hit having to say "thank you" (otherwise he gets hit again) and then the one dishing out the punishment has to say "you're welcome" or else he gets hit too.
