  • does anyone else hear the "when the levee breaks" drum beat/recording style after the drums come in just by themselves?

  • @DonosIpod hahahaha exactly what went through my mind when i heard it first :D

  • @DonosIpod haha yeah man, thats like the same beat too. awesome

  • @DonosIpod Holy shit.... damn that's similar.

  • Only just now has a friend of mine brought this amazing band to my notice. Where have you been all my life?

  • 2:13 Oh MY gosh. I honestly cried when I heard this...

  • I never get sick of listening to this song. So much passion in the music and lyrics.

  • @DiscoRByrno What are you smoking? The Cranberries had a female singer...

  • 2:26 WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS

  • @RHCP5123 YEAH :D

  • Oustanding.

  • @mudchair16 Outstanding. Fucks sake.

  • Breaking Benjamin vs. Karnivool

Anyway, Does this band kick ass or what!?

  • @rtremblay87 If this kind of music was mainstream then we would live in a world without entropy, genetics and evolution. Use your mind man. Very few humans actually think about space and time. They all mostly follow the crowd. That is the way things are. Do you think that you can actually change this. You cannot. Go with the flow. Life is much easier when you accept the fact that you are surrounded by dummies.

  • @TheAntiFascist2010 i agree that u say u cannot change that the world r sheep & followers, but why would u say go with the flow?is this a contradiction?i understand saying deal with it,people want simple music as they don´t want anything interesting when they can listen 2 blieber sing mediocre shit for simple minds, but u shouldn´t go with d flow.u should stay true 2 what u like.i was given 2 free tix 2 some hip hop"artist"& i threw them in the rubbish,i couldn´t even bring myself 2 give them away

  • @polkhigh4touchdowns What I mean is don't fight fruitless battles. I am not sating don't fight but I am saying learn that everyone is capable of crossing the border between living well and living imperically.

  • @rtremblay87 You will never explain to idiots why they follow signs in the sky or why they worship anthropromorphisized beings from outer space. They just do, so just live with it.

  • @rtremblay87

But...we aren't losers, we are the sane people that listen to the good music.

  • @rtremblay87 I agree partly, but part of how special this music is, is that not everyone listenes to it. Do you really want a bunch of people listening to this because it's what eveyone else does and not even appreciating its musical value? That would entirely pollute this genre.

  • @rtremblay87

J'peux quand meme comprendre ton point, t'as pas tord.

  • @rtremblay87 No way....I dont want everybody to listen to Karnivool...I love them...and thats enough xD

  • One word only... "wow"

  • totally love it..

  • LOVE BASS!!!

  • They changed my life.

  • Crap, I'm back in love with Karnivool again

  • @stratometer Crap?

  • @TheDobligator You're such a nignorant fool. Return to your cave, rebind yourself with shackles and fixate your eyes upon the wall once more. Your trip outside the cave has come to an end.

  • @93limabean Damnit platooooooooooo. Nignorant is MY term!

  • anyone notice how similar the drumming is to that of John Bonham? (preferably the Led Zep song When the Levee Breaks)

  • @yourmusicguru yeah its the exact same beat halfway through the song, and then it changes back to what it was before. i thought the same thing too, at first i thought it might morph into a cover lol

  • @ilrory0401 same here first i heard it! :D

I was like........ NO WAY! :D

then i was a bit let down XD

  • i'm one of the happy people who saw Karnivool live♥

its the best band ever! :D love you guys

  • In elite category: Tool, Rishloo, The Mars Volta, karnivool

  • @TheHimalayanGorilla Add Porcupine Tree to that category as well man....

  • @TheHimalayanGorilla don't forget Cynic and BTBAM

  • yo Karnivool fans, check out our swedish sauna film clip! - Friendly Yen first single " The Colour" we worked with Forrester Savell too

  • I can't help making the obvious sonic connection to Tool. Especially in the vocals.

  • @SatansRapists Tool is one of their inspirations. I pretty much call them the Aussie Tool.

  • @SickAmongThePure1 i call them karnivool. calling them 'the aussie tool' robs them of their identity. and boy oh boy have they forged an identity for themselves.

  • Loving those drums at 2:25 so JUICY to play

  • @D1llsta They're the same from When the levee breaks by Zeppelin, not that that's a bad thing.

  • @TheFragile89 i think its actually a sample he uses from that song, not just copying it. thats why he plays it on sample pads when they play live

  • 3:47 ... so good!

  • The intro gives me goosebumps.

  • the bass sounds great on this track.

  • @bulinho05 "why should i feel pain or feel at all?"

  • @bulinho05 feel alone I do believe

  • @bulinho05 it's actually 'why should I feel pain? or feel at all?

  • @Kymatose that's what I thought it was... but not sure

  • @bulinho05 I think it's "...why should I feel pain, or feel at all."

  • @bulinho05 "...or feel at all."

  • @bulinho05 at all

  • @bulinho05 "Why should I feel pain or feel at all.

  • I like it =D

  • Fucking massive bass.

  • Sounds awesome, love the drums, love the atmosphere!

  • i would dig this band if the singer didnt sound like a little bitch choir boy

  • @InfoQuest4311 I have nothing to say to you

  • @InfoQuest4311 gay screamo fan is gay

  • @InfoQuest4311 you should be shot, for you ill equipped brain capacity of an understand of what true talent is

  • @InfoQuest4311 It's called singing. Get a grip

  • Just like tbe the singers make the bands!!!

  • Decided to listen to this band because I watched an Interview of Misha Mansoor (Periphery) and he mentioned them. I can't get enough of these guys now

  • I'm like floating in space when i hear this song.

  • This is a perfect mix between TOOL, Deftones, and Incubus.

  • @1230hagen They do sound like a very clean Deftones.

  • @AustinLuck78 deftones are much more mainstream, more similar to linkin parks older stuff. vool are in a class of their own, theyve got their own sound made, especially in sound awake, insane album

  • @datswotimtknbout I think you're cool but never ever compare Deftones to Linkin Park again!

  • @AustinLuck78 lol they sound similar to me, opinion is all it is, im not a huge fan of either tbh. vool are a class above for me. cant wait for their new album :D

  • After discovering these lads plus The Butterfuly Effect, imo it seems that the aussie bands have outclassed the british!

  • @TheArabassist they do. also check out Dead Letter Circus, Closure in Moscow, Birds of Tokyo (same singer as Karnivool)

  • @JTbassist09 Aussie band outclassed the british ans soon as Nick Cave started performing

  • @JTbassist09 Dont forget COG.

  • @Sniwewins my sincere apologies. definitely definitely don't forget COG. except that they have retired/broken up whatever

  • @TheArabassist Radiohead, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, The Smiths... that's just a really small list. Despite being an Australian I can safely say that Australia has nothing on England.

    Love this band though.

  • @FlyingFuckstorm true, there are amazing british bands, but I am not fan of any of their new stuff.

  • @TheArabassist well thats not... well you have to take into account...are sod it your right :)

  • Did anybody else hear When the Levee Breaks at 2:26?

  • @Ceejay1523

    sho did sir

  • sounds like A Perfect Circle.

  • @AustinLuck78 Pretty much what I felt. not that it's a bad thing, but I tend to prefer APC. Karnivool are great, I just don't really like their singer. shame, really...

  • @NeverLandQM Maynard is the glue that holds both TOOL and APC together. It took me a minute to get use to Ian Kenny's voice. It grows on you.

  • @AustinLuck78 Both APC and tool have some other strong players (tool's bassist is awesome, listening to a song like "Disposition" makes me feel high)

Anyway I'll definitely be giving Karnivool a few more tries~

  • @NeverLandQM Oh yes, Disposition is one of my favorites!

  • try to be a simple boy for once in this life

  • dumb ass boys

  • listen to the damn song dummy dumb dumb

  • Australia is getting some great bands coming through, excellent band, just discovered them.

  • This makes me happy I play bass

  • brainwashed from rap to rock cuz of karnivool \,,/ !!!

  • @S0CCERinho lol, about time u woke,i used to love rap too,but then one day i too woke up!!

  • @S0CCERinho listen to the roots. thats good rap/hip hop

  • epic

  • The bass line on this song has a very sexy sound to it. As do all the songs on Sound Awake.

  • cant get this in canada, wheres best to order from

  • @kona2428

Amazon. Worth the shipping cost. Chapters has it too, but it's a few bucks more.

  • 2:26 when the levee breaks-led zeppelin?

  • @tarplayer71

I thought that at first but then played that bit one after the other and at the same time on both songs and it is different, but definitely a resemblance.

  • @tarplayer71 definitely the same beat but slightly slower tempo and it is definitely a different drumkit and mixing.

  • This music is nice! First song I heard of them, Bulb told me to listen to them :D Really dig this

  • The transition to clean at 3:11 is fffffffffffffaaaaaaaannnntastic.

  • This band invokes your mind , it makes you think.

It invokes your spirit , it makes you feel.

It invokes your body , it makes you nod your head.

  • Holy fucking shit. That's what I first thought when I heard the bass.

  • god I love them <3

  • That bass makes me want to bathe in Nilla wafers.

  • @TheMassaCreature Love the Warwick growl. Wish they didn't neck dive so bad.

  • @TheMassaCreature I had to sign into my youtube account just to thumbs up this... thank you for making me go out of my way today!

  • @TheMassaCreature hahaha wtf, best comment ever.

  • @TheMassaCreature Dude......we dont have those in Canada, my ex sent me a box about 5 months ago, they are INCREDIBLE. So good.

  • Karnivool ROCKED the roof off the Milkyway (Melkweg) in Amsterdam yesterday!!!

Thank you for an awesome show guys!!!

To me you are the best band of the last decade!

  • Are you people still comparing this to Tool?

  • tilt the face back if using a laptop and the eye becomes a smiley face

  • @troy861 Holy crap it does!!

  • I swear I just came up with the coolest concept of a music video for this song. I'm going to keep it to myself though.

  • @BigTymerPimp I thought pimps did quite the opposite. share with everyone

  • @JTbassist09 I would, but I feel someone might steal my idea and use it. I'm not even sure if I could give my vision justice in 500 words or less on YouTube anyways.

Besides, I don't believe pimps share for free.

  • @JTbassist09 i have been looking for an album version of change (part) 1 one here but all that is on here are live versions, could you upload that on here please?

  • @ArmyOfOne313 yeah sure, its exactly the same as the end of deadman which is cut out of the youtube vid. but since you asked nicely I'll put it up as soon as I have some time

  • @BigTymerPimp If it's with anime.. leave it..

  • @calmaron No, that would completely ruin my vision, but my idea would probably have some CGI in it. It would need to be flawless though.

I'm not talking about one of those lame youtube anime music videos, if that's what you mean.

  • @BigTymerPimp If you ever get it up let me know I would love to see it.

  • @BigTymerPimp let me guess, a girl walking through a forest?

  • @scaryfried Nope.

  • @BigTymerPimp i just came up with a way to shave my nuts and not get a rash. Im going to keep it to myself tho

  • @kirkhammett26 You just figured out now? Very interesting information, sir.

  • holy shit that's a lot of bass distortion

  • The only time I really got any vibe of Tool is the beginning bass of All I know and the vocals at around 3:45 of this song kind of sounds like Maynard but other than that they are very different bands. I really dig their progressions and they are very talented musicians. Love this band.

  • this band is awesome! yes, they do sound a lot like tool, but fuck it, tool is awesome as well.

    just enjoy the music, everyone.

  • lol at all the people saying they don't sound like tool. they arn't tool rip offs BUT they do sound similar to tool.

I love this band - birds of tokyo and dead letter circus. ty aus for your contributions to our ears.

  • "im high above the world. why should i feel pain or feel alone. to be protected like a simple boy. if i chose to let you down, begin to know....you free to goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

  • if tool and chevelle morphed into one band and made a song, it would sound like this

  • @deeznutz84 and if a retard and a monkey combined to make a comment...it would be the one u just left. karnivool does NOT sound like tool AT ALL

  • @MrInsignia16 open your eyes and reread my message fool.. i commented that THIS SONG had characteristics similar to both tool and chevelle. guitar and bass - tool.... vocals - chevelle... simple as that.. if you cant recognize the similarities.. chances are.. you are an immature little bitch who is too naive to see the instrumental and vocal similarities...

  • @deeznutz84 this band is infact similar to tool. for sure.

  • @tigerhearted87 i agree bro!

  • @MrInsignia16 btw... quit acting as if that was any sort of low blow to karnivool.. i love what they have done with this some.. and i am a huge fan of the previously mentioned bands

  • I can't get enough......just can't get enough of this ffffuckin band!!!!They rule!!!

  • i will disagree with anyone who says they sound like tool because tool has made so many different sounds they covered basically all the bases of progressive metal, thus everyone suddenly thinks any progressive band sounds just like tool. and most progressive bands are under ground so whos to say tool didnt take what they made? and a band is never like another band unless theyre basically a carbon copy. just ranting here.

  • @blizalot Haha I just stopped writing my own rant when I saw yours. Couldn't agree with you more on that. I would just basically say exactly what you said, but I will save the time and just end this comment.

  • @blizalot THANK YOU!! i dont know what is with all these dumbasses saying that karnivool sounds like tool...they are totally 100 percent different bands

  • 2:25 ....gets me everytime.

  • amazing song and record

  • 2:25 is taken from led zeppelin's when the levee breaks.they aren't that original but i still really love to listen them.

  • Is it just me or is the groove from 2:26 - 3:10 a clear tribute to John Bonham on 'When the levee Breaks'?

  • OMG song!!!!!Pure Perfection!!!!

  • The only way to listen to karnivool is full blast

  • Never get tired of this album 'sound awake says it all!'

  • the bass in this song, and on the rest of the album, are sooooo chunky!!

  • When the levee breaks beat 2:25

  • Karnivool !!!!!! i can't get enough of this fffffucking band!!!!!!!!

  • Perfect song!!

  • Comment removed

  • @heavymetalguitarer... third that! I'm more a guitar fan myself, but the bass in this band is sooooo dominant and adds such bigs balls to Karnivool's unique sound.

Coolest Aussie band ever! I'd almost go so far as to change that statement to "coolest band ever... that happens to be Aussie", but I have a few other international acts I rate as highly.

Good on ya boys... I missed you last time you were touring, but won't make that mistake again next time you're touring Australia!
