how did we not win the national championship w/ this team? They had the best WR Glenn, RB George , TE Dudley , LT Pace at their positions in the country as well as QB Hoying who wasn't too bad (3rd rounder) throw mr verstile, and only catch TD's LB Mike Vrabel, and lock down CB's in Pro Bowlers \Shawn Springs and Antoine Winfield
Not only did Eddie George go absolutely crazy running in this one, but it got the Illinois monkey off Coop's back. He had lost 6 of his first 7 against the Illini coming in (they had also won their last four trips into the 'shoe) and ended up winning 5 of his last 6.
I was at the game. I was in the front row of C deck. This was the single greatest football game I have ever seen. We had basically no passing game that night with Terry being out and facing one of the best defenses in the country. What a show it was. I will always remember the "Eddie" chant over and over. And damn it was cold but so worth it.
My pick for the best teams I ever saw, the 69 and 73 Bucks did not beat Michigan, this 95 team was Cooper at his best assembling a powerhouse on the offensive side of the ball. How we failed to beat Michigan in 95/96 just staggers the mind. Yes, it happened, but we were better, and we have made it up from 2001-2009. What comes around goes around.
I feel you there, Eddie was my Idol, I wore #27 till my sophomore year in HS. He was a slower Adrian Peterson. Look at there numbers from there best seasons there pretty close.
This was one of the great teams of all-time, even if the team of north did crunch us that year. But Dudley, Hoying, George, Glenn, Stanley, and even Winfield! What a crew. But were they the best? Check out the numbers that the offense put up in Joe Germain's senior year-1998. They were an offensive juggernaut as well. BTW, it looks like the offensive line was damn good in 1995. Eddie waltzes right though the def. line several times here.
Back when OSU won with offense instead of defense. I loved watching Eddie, and as one person said, he basically won the heisman on that day. Eddie was great. Somebody once said that one of the things that made Eddie great is that he "always fell forward." Eddie's legs were always moving and had long legs for a tailback. I forgot that Antoine Winfield was a freshman (did you hear them mention his name?)
The 95 team's only weak link was the "D". One week they'd look NC caliber and then somebody like "Timmy" came along. Poor Coop, 95,95,96 & 98. What could have & should have been!!!! This team should have spanked both scUM and UT. Gag job against scUM and not motivated, monsoon and illegal cleats vs UT.
Thanks for editing and posting that. Great job! I fell into tickets for that game earlier in the day (B-deck on a coooold afternoon!). Edd--ie, Edd--ie!
Wish my fantasy backs could give me a game or 2 like this.

This video should be re-named the Orlando Pace pancake party. One of College football's greatest O-lines right there.

I almost forgot there was a time that Ohio State did not run a spread offense. Eddie George was the complete stud.

John Cooper was a terrible coach against Michigan. He had so much talent. He should of won at least 5 national titles.

the amazing thing is that he gets 314 yds with 13 minutes still left in the 4th quarter

Can you imagine if Beanie got to play behind that line? You know, a line that doesn't get pushed back 3 yards and fall into the lap of the RB?
