Just to clarify, no he did NOT say he was against homebirth. He said "most normal births would be perfectly safe at home." He pointed out that because of the possibility of complications, it is important to have a trained, skilled attendant, which is about the best we're going to get from and OBGyn or a politician, let someone who's BOTH!
It was very hard to hear all of what Ron Paul said, but it sounded to me like he (of course) is in favor of options, keeping government out of the home so to speak, that he thinks most women can give birth without complications, but that home birth is not something he promotes? Did I get that right?

I am not in favor of government prohibiting people from making private choices. I may have a medical opinion–well, you shouldn't do this or you shouldn’t do that, but politically, people should make their own choices.
Wow! I was looking for home birth videos and came across this. The lady he is talking to is the midwife who caught my last 2 babies. You never know what you will find on youtube:)
wow! how uncanny she was your midwife! i am so lucky to find this b/c homebirths are my passion (hate hospitals and the treatment of pregnant women there), and i'm an avid ron paul supporter!
Aww, I was hoping he was going to be shown speaking to the issue from behind a podium with a microphone. Search "Ron Paul is for Birthing Freedom" to at least read exactly how he did address this issue in front of one audience.
Thank you for posting this. I am a student midwife and have been campaigning for Ron Paul and have many times wished he had a stated position on midwives. This was the answer I was looking for.
Only 208 of 2,380 delegates decided. We are in it for the duration. Keep him going his message needs to still get to many more people.
