  • @6:00 like a boss

  • @MrShysterme

    Yup! Thanks!

  • No theistic argument can stand against the cool light of reason and evidence, and the theists know it.

  • @MrShysterme

Truly right, and that can't, and never will change. Be Well!

  • The passion in the way he speaks is incredible.

  • @SiftyFix

Yes, it's terrific. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year to you!

  • 4:59 Two years later your children saw you die. :-(

  • @fire112germany

People die, and in Hitch's case, it's a great loss, as it is with many, or even most. Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays!

  • @fire112germany

    50 years later yours will

  • @peenfluteking

Stark reality, it's unflinching. Happy New Year!

  • @peenfluteking Possibly.

  • @lease2coach

    yep, like thunderf00t said about:

"The Lord is my Shepherd, '

'He prepares the table for me'

'he anoints my head with oil'"

    it's a bloody cookbook!

  • @LadyAmaltheaUnicorn

Yup! Thanks for having watched too!

  • today's theology's are tomorrow's mythology

  • @maestro4110

Yes, and well suited for that garbage can avatar of yours. Thanks for watching too!

  • 4 Christians against 1 Hitch?? Not fair on the Christians, won't stand a chance!!

  • @marcohorowitz8

Exactly right, and thanks for having watched also! Be Well!

  • @lease2coach

BAMMO! Thanks for watching and commenting too! Be Well!

  • Frauline Freitzle. WE CARE!! Athiests care about you. Chrisians say they do but will then say, she should have preyed harder and had more faith. It's alright he'll get his later just thank god you're out of there. What hideousness that anyone could say that.

  • @Dgoosh1000

Fantastic comment, and thanks for watching too! Be Well!

  • @Dgoosh1000

exactly. I've lost count of how many times a Christian has said "look to Jesus" or "I'll prey for you" when I was in need of human companionship and comfort. Religion allows people to be lazy and neglective to actual compassion while feeling self-righteous in the process

And yeah the whole "victim blaming" is sickening as well; "we're filthy sinners who deserve to die and suffer" fuck that

  • @LadyAmaltheaUnicorn

Nice comment, thanks for watching too!

  • BAM! Fucking BAM!

  • @DeleriosoAnormal

YUP! And thanks for watching too!

  • Religion just got fucking fucking fucking DESTROYED son. Goodbye religion...all you failed humans will need to accept that you will die and its going to hurt like you wont believe. When you exhale for the last time you are gone. The end :)

  • @699backstab

LOL! Indeed! Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • The curse of monotheistic religion is that it separates god from nature and give us the impossible challenge of a relationship with something completely alien. Its interesting that pagan mythologies predating that of christianity considered human beings to be part of a universal order (as modern science has proven) Only monotheistic religions decided that we must live under the laws of a divine, (and yet separate) dictator.

  • @Hufflewaffle

Fantastic comment. You couldn't have presented it any better. Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts. Have a terrific weekend too!

  • @Hufflewaffle

Yes, and all religions are sick self-righteous Mumbo Jumbo. It's for the weak, the stupid, the mentally ill and for the con artist to profit off the latter. Sick useless trash. Thanks for watching too!

  • religion argued from that point comes across as "reality-lite".

  • @breaneainn

religion argued from any point is "Reality-Not." Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • The five christians looked rather sullen did`nt they,LMFAO.

    Religion,what a load of utter trash,nuff said

  • @naybobdenod

    Yes, they were brutalized, thanks!

  • I think of the politiicians, and really every american president and then the vatican and on and on and then I contemplate the absolute idiocy of the statement that implies that religion is there for the weaker people in our society. Its clear than theres a good many power brokers as well.

  • @keereekee

religio-Psychotics are very weak, they are terrified of dying, that's why they cling to their man-made gibberish. It's so selfish too. They believe they get more than the amazing condition of life they already have, how repulsive. Most christians make Bernie Madoff seem like a nice man with good morals. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • What's that opening speaker's name ? He owns xtian religion more eloquently and more cruely than Chrsitopher ever did...

  • @Acrimonator

Great comment! We don't know his name, but we'll try and find it for you. He does make christians sound like what they are, weak, mentally ill fools who have no intelligence and no faith in themselves at all, just in a fairy tale. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • Amazing. Christopher Hitchens made 2 awesome points - who wants to live in a no-privacy life and secondly what kind of a supreme being sadistically watches someone get tortured daily for 24 years !! I think the reality is there is no being and no one is watching anything. The religious masses are all praying to someone who doesn't exist. Hoping and praying with utmost sincerity will still not make something true. Universe is cold, chaotic and random. Hard to accept but it is true.

  • @fanirama

Terrific comment, and exactly right. Praying is a fanciful whim of a small child awaiting a gift from Santa Claus, it is an unfit thought for any clear-headed adult. Thanks for watching and commenting also! Be Well!

  • Christopher Hitchens is one of my favourite speakers. He is always eloquent and is certain to make sure that his points can not be misconstrued. Thanks for posting.

  • @Corneilius5188

Yes, he's fantastic. Thanks for watching and commenting too! Be Well!

  • @IANC4EVER

If religion is so right, how come YOU, nor anyone else, can prove it's real? The burden of proof is on YOU, not people asking for evidential proof. Like Carl Saga said, correctly, "EXTRAORDINARY CLAIMS REQUIRE EXTRAORDINARY PROOF." The bible, a work of fiction, alleged the Earth was flat and stationary, it's not. The bible, laughable fiction, also asserts in genesis, that light was created before the Suns, which it wasn't, an only an idiot would think it was. YOU FAIL!

  • @IANC4EVER

Without religion we wouldn't have a tenth of the violence we have now, it's almost all religious garbage, the Middle east for example, ALL based on religious quarrels. We have enough divisions between men, we don't need another man-made one like the idiocy of religion. "This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it" -John Adams

    Adams was indeed correct!

  • @IANC4EVER @IANC4EVER no one has to prove that there is no god! because there is no reason to belive in god! its like thinking star wars is real, do we need to prove yoda wasnt real??

  • @snowyywwinters

Exactly. The guy's got some very serious mental issues. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • After you have listened to this brilliant tirade, take a moment to click through the timeline and watch the questioner on the left physically wilt under the onslaught.

  • @Phage0070

That was hilarious. Thanks for watching and commenting as well!

  • @Phage0070

    Rofl...

There's a part in the Hitchens Vs Turek debate where, immediately after Hitchens completely destroys a point put forward by his opponent, that his opponent then actually goes completely red in the face and starts physically shaking a little bit.

I wish I had such an amazing wit that I could make grown men react in such a way with words alone :P

  • @Averagegamer100

Yes, that was hilarious for certain. Many of our videos on the stupidity of relogion have the same effect on these loonies, it's great. Thanks for watching and for the great accurate comment! Have a great week too!

  • That was an indestructible argument.

  • @Whyisthat101

True, as are nearly all arguments against the pure idiocy of religion. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • Why do christians even bother? Hitchens is indestructible.

  • @conman4037

Reality is indestructible, religio-Psychotics are fragile. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • like your description - think u hit the nail on the head

  • @rwtj01

Thank you! Thanks for watching and commenting too! Have a pleasant weekend!

  • hehe, good video.

  • @daemonowner

    Thanks!

  • His opening speech could have been reworded as "It seems like atheism is for intelligent people, and Christianity is for stupid people". I agree.

  • @justonefyx

True, thanks for watching and commenting.

  • no-THING. NOTHING. Damn.

  • @rulesandwisdom

    LOL!

  • i agree. christianity is for people who are not intelligent. thats what he said himself. a comforting lie for dumb people.

  • @hansbo11

    Exactly! Thanks for watching too!

  • @mccainisthrough One of my favourite clips of Hitchens! I'm going to see him speak this Saturday and have tickets for the third row. Can't wait!

  • @rulesandwisdom

Hitch is excellent, live, or on Memorex. Thanks for watching. Have a nice week too!

  • When is the moderator going to stop talking?

  • @Nemesis000000

Apparently he doesn't know his place. Thanks for watching too!

  • that moderator talks too fucking much. Moderation my ass.

  • @Jeebaah

Someone should have prescribed a sleeping pill for him prior to his remarks. Thanks for watching too.

  • @mccainisthrough Thanks for posting! I'm glad I watched it.

  • @Jeebaah

Thanks for sharing the kind words! Be Well!

  • balls deep first push

  • @NATEandtheMONKEY

Christopher gutted them with one swipe of his scalpel.

  • I like mine better.lol

    j/k

  • @NATEandtheMONKEY

    LOL! Thanks!

  • Toche' Mr. Hitchins. All one has to do to know that God doesn't protect the week is to read the bible.

  • @whoopiman

Yes, truly. Thank you for commenting also.

  • checkmate

  • @SuperFreikorps

Indeed. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • Hitchens at his best

  • @naybobdenod

Truly. He was as sharp as a scalpel here, his regular form!

  • This really is quite brilliant, can anyone link me to a citation for the Madame Freissel (sp?) case? I seem to be unable to find it, and I'd really like to read up on such a profoundly tormenting story.

  • @Mitth13 Oh, that was in Austria, between one and two years ago. A psychopath built a prison dungeon in his basement, locked up his daughter and raped her, fathered a couple of children with her and raped those as well. The most disturbing thing is that no one seemed to notice, not even his wife.

    Google for Josef Fritzl

  • @lagerbaer

    Spot on, thanks!

  • @lagerbaer Much obliged.

  • @Mitth13

Thanks. We'll try and locate a link for you.

  • @Mitth13

    This is a start--

Cant post the URL just google it up from the name.

Staggeringly --His parents were Josef and Maria Fritzl, he was raised Roman Catholic -- from what you here from the loony religious lot.

It would only be possible for a non christian to do, then again if he repents he will be forgiven wont he.

  • @VideoAudioDisco09

    Thanks for the additional info!

  • @VideoAudioDisco09 actually if he "repents" he would have to do so with conviction...simply speaking the words in no way carries power.

I think that is the part people get hung up on, which even theists agree is ridiculous. Imagine living your life in self-indulgences (believing you can ask forgivness at the last moment) & then dying, but trying to get in under the wire to heaven. So now for eternity thats all you have to reflect back on....a bad life.

  • @hexusziggurat

Who says he won't do so with conviction and if so get a walk on the crime.

One of the big sales gimmicks of christianity is Justice, even if posponed til later..

  • @VideoAudioDisco09

Yes, that's well stated. christians are mentally unbalanced. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • @hexusziggurat

    Great comment, thanks!

  • well he surely sat that straight

  • Just because something sounds nice for some people (as Christianity) that doesn't mean it is true. So easy!

  • @lagerbaer

Correct. christ-stain-anity is a joke and a fraud, nothing more. Thanks!

  • A stunning argument--Hitchens blew away his opposition there, and I've never heard any adequate response on these points, except for weak arguments like "but God loves us." Really? So if we have doubt he would cast us into a lake of burning fire for all eternity? Is this a loving parent? Yet save a "Christian" who also happens to be a mass murderer?

  • @DandAinTac

True. There is no evidence any religion is anymore than fairly tales, and there never will be, since they are fairy tales, composed of lies and ignorance. Thanks for watching and the great lucid comment!

  • I really fucking hate this guy....but he is very smart i will give him that.

  • @wesag982

Christopher Hitchens is awesome, unless you're an idiot who believes in the fiction and lies of religion, then you'd tend to dislike his sense of reality and honesty. It's easier to appear smart when the facts are with you, but Hitch is brilliant too!

  • PART 2

Is it not amazing that a civilized people--for the Jews of that age were civilized--were so filled with murderous hate towards a kind and loving man who went about doing good, who preached forgiveness, cleansed the leprous, and raised the dead--that they could not be appeased until they had crucified the noblest benefactor of mankind? Again I ask--is this history, or is it fiction?

  • @VideoAudioDisco09

religion = Lies and Fiction. Not a word of any of them are true. Only Science is reality.

  • PART 1:

And let us ask, if Christ performed the miracles the New Testament describes, if he gave sight to blind men's eyes, if his magic touch brought youthful vigor to the palsied frame, if the putrefying dead at his command returned to life and love again--why did the people want him crucified?

  • @VideoAudioDisco09

LOL! christ, the Santa Claus for religio-Psychotics.

  • Magic

  • @SkinnerSG

Yes, Hitchens is magic, religion is fiction and lies.

  • What is the name of this debate?

  • @Mitche23

It's the christian book expo debate.

  • It's not the substance of what Hitchens says that amazes me, it's more HOW he puts it together. The construction and delivery of his arguments, however major or minor, are delivered with surgical precision. To put it bluntly, he's intellectualism on steroids. Note that he almost never refers to himself as a de facto "atheist", but more crucially, as an "anti-theist". I believe that subtle difference is key if we're to understand the nuance of his personal position.

    Thank you for uploading!

  • @jesal21

Thanks for watching and the critical review. We have corresponded with Hitch and we may do an exclusive interview with him soon. He's down to Earth and well grounded, unlike theists who still believe in Santa Claus. Have a nice Sunday!

  • I appreciate both aspects of his delivery, however a big reason it comes off so well is because he's done this so many times, and has spent his entire professional life speaking publicly in one form or another. Practice does make...well, really damn good, let's just say.

  • @SurelyYewJest

The religious clowns are more practiced at their lies than Hitchens is at speaking the truth. The religious nuts have been trying to convince the world their fairy tale is real, and preach it every second. It's easy for Hitchens to bury these clods, since reality is the weight of reason, religion is the anchor for fools.

  • @mccainisthrough ...? The vast majority of religous people I know are not trying to convince anyone of anything. They try to practice a life with good moral ethics & help others. I don't see anything wrong with that. Yet somehow if they were labeled atheists their deeds would then be more qualified for your judegment?

  • @hexusziggurat

    LOL! Sure thing. LOL!

  • @hexusziggurat -the catholic church acts throughout the world to prevent people in even the most AIDS-struck areas from getting and using condoms, various religious groups in the usa demand textbooks be rewritten to suit their silly beliefs about human origins..george bush tried to convince jacques chirac to join the usa in the iraq war because gog and magog were loose in the middle east...ie., it was fulfilling biblical prophecy...

  • @tyz228

Excellent, well said, and true. Thanks for watching and commenting also!

  • I often find Hitchens to be a boozy blowhard. But he nailed the case shut with this clip. Wish-thinking is for the weak and unimaginative. If we want things to change and improve, we have to change and improve them. Here and now. It's the only life we get.

  • @drumrnva

Yes, we'd agree. Live in the here and now, there is nothing else. Thanks!

  • I keep hearing the word "Fairytale" do ye not know the devil is the "Myth Master"

We in Christ are to expose this "Myth Master" an all pagan ways, this is our duty.

What is say is true...If you cannot belief the truth...You will "FA:LL" for anything...

    John 14:30

    "I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;

  • @BrightLight57

LOL! That's funny stuff. Write in a book, other idiots did, they called it the bible, the world's most pathetic man-made fictional drivel!

  • Txx 4 the kind words my friend.I actually did christianity in my younger yrs and without going into detail I'll juist say it didn;t work for me.What I do know now is that I certainly don;t need religion to be a good person.Cheers mate.

  • @jimmah1967

    Thank you and Cheers!

  • The christians guys arguement was basically that christianity offers a feelgood fairytale for weak minded, unable ppl[like himself] whereas aetheism doesn't.

  • @jimmah1967

That's correct. religion offers nothing at all, ever, while Atheism offers reality and the ability to live within it and develop an understanding that we're all here together and must work together for the best possible results. religions all claim that their fairy tale is true, and they fight each other over their dogma, destroying unity and Our Earth. religion is the greatest threat to mankind. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • Got to like Christopher. And I support his support of the invasion of Irak. Coming from Germany i at least have spend considerable time to learn what it must be like to live in a wicked totalitarian state (unable to properly express my deepest thankfullness for purging this shit out of my ancestors payed with countless allied lives).

  • @blackpajamas1

Yes, religion must be euthanized for the safety of Our Earth.

  • wow, thats so fucked up...24 years not ever seeing sunlight and being tortured infront of your kids who are suffering themselves...24 YEARS!! feel so bad for them...i googled the guy, he looks like pure evil

  • It's very creepy, and yes, "pure evil" is an accurate statement. Thanks for the comment.

  • Does it bother anyone of how the theist questionaire riddles with so much weakness? I hate to be mean, but what a pathetic reason to be religious. Ive been dealt a bad hand but if I were to turn to a god, it would still leave me dependent & no matter how much I acheive, Id never really be self-reliant, all credit will go to god. I think the theist who asked the question only sees himself as weak because religion made him that way & its in religion's best interest to KEEP him that way.

  • Outstanding comment. You sound very enlightened, well beyond what the childish superstition of religion would provide for you, if anything. You also sound strong, a fantastic quality and one that will sail you through life on the power of your own thinking. We wish you well and thank you for watching, as well as the bright thoughtful comment.

  • "We're all created in god's image"

    Two words - Joseph Merrick

  • Yes, good point. It's also fascinating that these morons who believe in "intelligent design" don't realize that means their fine alleged "god" person gives infants cancer and created a planet where animals kill and consume other animals, including man, which if crated in this alleged "god" person's image, is the most murderous animal on the planet, and the only contributing to its physical destruction with nuclear waste and other formidable types of toxic pollutants. Thanks for watching too!

  • im agnostic. I think there is an irony here, and that is that religion had a purpose at one point, but that we have essentially evolved past that belief. There is afterall a need for order and some understanding about what is right and wrong. This gave religion an important place, and their clinging to this place has resulted in much pain and suffering.

  • Extremely well said, thanks! Thanks for watching and commenting too, beautifully expressed and quite true. Have a nice weekend too!

  • Good post. I see Hitchens squirming in his seat waiting to rip the questions apart, this is rather more polite of a debate then what I normally see of him.

  • Thanks! Yes, good stuff. Have a nice weekend too!

  • Wow! Thanks so much for that. That was incredible. He is incredible!

  • @rscrim1

You're entirely welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • The funny thing is the priest who were telling all the suffering people that they will get their reward in the afterlife lived like kings. They didn't want these people to revolt. They wanted them to feel "satisfied" with the suffering they were going through. I mean really, they even said that the poor man has a better chance getting into heaven then the wealthy man. Ohh really? I should stay poor to be on the safe side. How stupid do you have to be to believe this crap. BRAINWASHING

  • @moety2

Quite true on every count. religion is sad, as well as dangerous. All religion does is separate groups into self-righteous idiots who battle one another over their phony claims, it's vile. Thanks for watching and for commenting as well!

  • I enjoy the fact that he emphasized the trauma she went through pleading to the heavens and "nothing, NOTHING" was said. The silence of the heavens... Haunting. Scary, but this is what our existence as humans is. We are probably alone in this universe, or at the very least this galaxy. We have to get used to it. And start doing things to better ourselves and our loved ones.

  • @thenaj88

Well said. Since there is absolutely no proof of any "god," and only proof that all religious dogma is entirely wrong and has no connection to anything ethereal, it's time to focus on the here and now. Thanks for watching and the fine comment too!

  • Schooled!

  • @Buddythunder1

Quite brutally too. Thanks for watching and commenting as well!

  • Thanks for uploading this it's one of hitchens best so far, the man is great.

  • @Carnage2K4

Thanks! Thank you for watching and for the kind comment as well!

  • Let's all step up and put all religion, not just Christianity where it belongs.

    In the garbage dump.

Many people who were indoctrinated as children, and don't really believe, but don't dispute their false beliefs either, should take a stance for reality, and what science tells us about "magic" in the real world.

Even that special brand of "Jesus magic"

Religion is for children, the downtrodden and the ignorant.

Ironically nothing oppresses subjugates and tyrannizes better than faith itself.

  • Incredibly well said, we agree 100%. religion needs to be euthanized for the good of society and Our planet. Thanks for watching and the great comment!

  • Da MAN has spoken.

  • Indeed. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • Yes, great reply.

He could also have said that religions that promise you a reward in the hereafter, far from helping the oppressed, actually do the work of the oppressors by suggesting that it is ok to resign yourself to a shit life. Turn the other cheek, was/is a weakening philosophy and a charter for bullies.

It's no wonder so many despots use religion to help them in their dirty work.

  • Truly a great response by Hitchens. You have a very funny username. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • That was a great speech, but Hitchens did not directly answer the question. He should have pointed out that being an atheist offers dignity, and self-respect that theism does not. We are responsible for our successes as well as our failures. We owe none of it to the supernatural. We have the power to make our lives and our world what we want it to be.

  • Very well said. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • I recently started to read the bible for the first time, I've heard exerts in my schooling on many an occasion having been educated at a catholic school, it's the funniest thing I have ever read. Please follow my example, address your sense of common sense and fairness. I personally want nothing to do with anyone who thinks like that and says others should follow this vindictive example.

  • @kramdoog

Well said, and thanks for the fine sensible contribution.

  • Before listening to Hitchens, for me, the issue was always God does he exist? I doubted it very much. Hitchens makes clear, for the first time I've seen, how absolutely horrible it would be if such an all-powerful, all-knowing God did indeed exist. It would be the worst tyrrany ever--far far worse than a "1984" scenario.

  • @DandAinTac

Hitchens is well grounded and is able to put christianity where it belongs, the garbage bin. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • Haha, I loved hearing about how strong and intelligent and well connected I am :D

  • Yes, christians are dogmatic Morons who believe in fantasy and ignore reality. You can't blame them though, their IQ's are far lower than Atheist's and Agnostic's IQ's, some surprise. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

  • "Christianity is for the "week, the poor, the unfortunate?"

Christianity runs and owns 70% of America.

Christianity are the fat cats that sit in the top office of a sky scrapper building and run a Multi-billion dollar company.

    So when you say that "Christianity is for the week, poor, and unfortunate." Just ask yourself two things;

When you drive threw your home town, how many Christian churches do you see (That don't pay for taxes by the way.) And 2: How many Buddhist temples do you see?

  • LOL! The two richest men in the World are Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, boith Atheists, and below them, then next 25 richest people in America are Atheists as well. The christian right is through forever. They are the bush's and the robertsons, they're now 17% of America. And while religious Morons buy their own BullShit, Americans do not. christianity is growing at 5% a year, while Atheism/Reality/Science, is growing at 105% a year. "Lighthouse are more helpful than churches" - Ben Franklin

  • christopher hitchens doesn't debate, he tears limb from limb.

  • @93parklife

LOL! Truly. He makes a savage beast look like a stuffed animal. Thanks for watching and the great, and true, comment!

  • Oh, right. Prepositions. Right. Ahem..

"funny that he didn't flip over that table.."

Waitaminute.. Now it sounds like I'm turning him into a ninja... A mental ninja, sure.. Sigh. Language..

  • Quite right! He brought the ceiling down on everyone but himself ...the power of the mind, the fiction of religion.

  • Yeah, I dunno.. That wasn't really "funny ha ha" rather more "funny he didn't flip that table over.."

    Hitchens is awesome.

  • Yes, Hitchens does get ...involved in his responses. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Awesome as usual!!

  • Yes, this one is particularly good. Hitch is always amusing, and his brevity is a core element, but he's especially humorous in this instance. He's so amiable that it's like throwing rabbits into a Lion's open mouth. There's so either unsuspecting or naive, either way it's "lambs to the slaughter."
