Imo, The key to this battle is keeping one union deadlocking him, and the rest healing or standing by. eventually, when his health is critical, and your AP is built up, you can completely blow your load up his asshole. Paitience is key though.

360, he's incredibly difficult to beat though, hardest in the game along side the last boss in a low level game imo

don't know about battle rank but here are a few tips before you battle him first battle some other monsters and levle up some. step 2 go to a store and buy 100 of everything healing and items. step 3 use some of the items to get the option cure them even if it kills them. and step 4 have 4 teams hope this helps

Battle rank shows temporarily in the top right of the screen when you win a battle.

You may want to use 4 unions from now on, I believe it's the best setup for majority of enemies, make sure you have a healer or 2 and someone capable of reviving in each union and always use attack whilst healing commands or if you're in a real shit make sure you only attack whilst healing with 1 union if possible, make all other unions heal and standby.

That's a basic setup I use to make every boss easy.

Key to this fight is keeping everyone alive, if anyone dies then revive them asap, if anyone gets enthralled then do whatever you can to kill and revive them otherwise shit quickly hits the fan.

i cant beat hellgate. any tips? ill tell u my group compositions. 1st group is a all caster group. all of them basically can heal themself and use magic offense. my 2ed group is all meele. basically my "tank" they are also the best healers are in that group also. my 3ed and final group is a support group with a balance of offensive styles between magic and meele. each time i get to the hellgate it seems to blow me up. hard. any tips?

Do you have healers in each union? I always have 2 in each union and it's a big help for almost any boss in the game, make sure you have someone capable of reviving in each union too, if you don't then get the healers and reviver and just make sure to heal every single turn with as many unions as possible, if a union is on low HP then try not attacking to prevent them getting killed, if anyone dies then revive them asap, you should always leave your support group back to use magic/heal too.

Some generic troops already have it, there should be at least 3 of them at the recruitment guy, it's called Vivification Herb.

It's been months since I last played so I don't remember the name but check the recruitment guy for Vivification Herb and look at the previous abilities in the same tier as it, if you keep using those then you'll eventually learn Vivification for other characters, you can also get a reviving spell from the tier with revitalize and restore but that takes longer to learn.

tears this boss isnt easy unless your a low br cause its harder when ur br is up more cause he gets stronger. but doesnt anyone know at what health level does it start flashing red?

There's a common misunderstanding about lower BR being easier than higher but trust me it's not, i have no trouble at all in average or high BR's yet almost every boss in a low level game was challenging, this is from getting to the end of disc 1 at BR8/25/44 and the last boss at 32/49/90, the middle BR's were on my 1st playthrough and i only attempted a high BR run to see if bosses really were harder but i found all of them even easier then i went onto attempt a low level game which was harder.

I found it a lot harder at higher BRs, especially when all i had to work with were 3 unions of 3, because i didn't want to use crap soldiers. Took 3 attempts, won on the one were i got the hypnos down with no unions deaths as it failed to give me the *save them even if it kills them* command,

I think people find it harder at higher BR's because they change units around alot, also I've heard bosses get a difficulty jump at certain BR's but I've never experienced that, have those people ever tried it with forced fights only though?

I don't mean to sound rude if that does but I'm just curious.

i use 3 unions... rush... emmy and david hes weak but he has remenant :D

use those 3 as leaders for the union becuase they have the power to do alot of damage emmy has the hundred flower thingy it hits like 20k i thought shes cute also :D plus she has a good healing power i have 2 leaders in ea union n 1 or 2 healer soilders in ea union.. i also have 20k hp in ea union...that should help i guess any questions message me

BR shows up temporarily in the top right when the victory screen pops up.

People usually only have trouble with this because they don't have or lack revivers, if you have them and still have trouble then you should read my description, also watch my part 3 or 4 vids to this to see how i handle it (It gets alot harder than this vid shows), i'm also at risk of being 2 shotted and cyclops has alot less HP (2700) which makes it alot harder for me, higher BR's reduce these chances by a mile.

i can practically beat him with a BR of only 24 but its annoying cause i cant go back and train... well i can but i have to go back before i beat those harpies!... is it really needed for the BR to in the 40's

ohh yeah and its wierd first time i fout gates of hell i completly powned him and he was flashing red health its just when it bringsback you dead team mates before you get to revive them which screwed me over.

also that cyclops thing is barely any help at all

All you need is sufficient healers and revivers and he's easy at around BR20, use 3 unions and only use attack while healing commands and you can attack him with all 3 unions at once and your unions will only die if you get unlucky and eat 3 attacks in a row, if that happens then have your other 2 unions kill and revive them and chances are you can't go wrong.

If you still can't manage it grind 5-10 BR's and return, assuming your unions are setup right it'll make the fight alot easier.

make sure you have revivers in at least 2 different unions and revive any dead people asap, if anyone gets enthralled then have remaining unions attack them, keep using attack while healing commands too and you should manage it easily, if your still having problems then attack with as few unions as you can.

My defense is low since my weapons haven't been upgraded much if at all but i don't know about this damage thing people talk about, even when i was in my BR 40's which is the highest BR i've done the boss on the damage i took was only slightly higher, like 900-1.4k from his normal attacks, his grenade impact does a lot more than that though, his damage increase is from his higher tier attacks such as Blue Blazes III whereas i'm taking Blue Blazes.

well when see this looks very easy , sadly PC version is much harder version of it he use every attack as this movie just II and III witch do more then 1 to 2k dmg or even on shot ur unions

This was the hardest thing i've ever done in any game, took me about 15 attempts to manage this and i own him easily when i'm even a little bit of an higher BR, i'm sure he's the same difficulty on the PC version and to the above comment he also attacks any union that deadlocks him which explains multiple attacks, his attacks increase in rank depending on your BR but from my experience they only do slightly more damage which your extra HP will outdo.

I passt him but from more iwas able to keep my Cyclope tank the boss wile 1 team Sideattack, 1 standby an cure the cyclope , and 1 team to keep Deadlock it otherwise then that it gave an hard match. ANd maybe my BR was 53.

Ive got BR 67. Rush (in my opinion) is very overpowered at the moment, using dual wield.

I have two other unions with David and Torgal as leaders. Each union has over 2.5k health.

However, my main problem is that I never (never meaning NEVER!!) get the "cure them even if it kills them" command. IS there some sort of trick to actually getting it ?

Look up your arts for whoever has the vivification herb art and it shows some items that are required to use it, stock up on them, if no one has vivification herb then get some people that do.

higher BR = easier win

just make sure you have 2 healers 1 of which can at least revive (make sure you have the ingredients needed for vivification herbs too), in the fight revive anyone that dies asap and if they become enthralled then use any remaining union to use the "cure them even if it kills them" command especially if it's cyclops and keep your HP high as much as you can and you should have little to no problems with him.

It took me so many attempts to do this boss, pandemonium got me every time. But I went back and did a few side quests and returned then some how defeated it. Do you just feel like you ain't gaining that much from extended training? Oh well, I'm on disc 2 now after catching the first remnant. I hope it improves a bit more from here!

I'm not sure, alot of people say enemies scale but i've yet to see that happen apart from 1 or 2 bosses's HP levels and i've played through the game 3x, i find that even 5-10 BR's can make a dramatic difference... Even to enemies like The Fallen a few BR's can help, i tried him at BR65 and couldn't even keep myself alive but went back at 78 (no stat/skill grinding done) and owned him in 8 turns, it sucks now though because if i want to try him at a minimum BR i have to do hells gate again >.>
