I've just realized that this is very VERY alike to the theme tune to Prisoner Cell Block H. Actually, it's near enough the same, or am I imagining it?

While living in PA, this song always made me sad and made me realize that all I really cared about was still in Tennessee. The people in PA are great and the state is beautiful, but it "ain't" the south, a very special place with special people, great traditions, dialect and a pride that exceeds anywhere I have ever lived. I finally made it back to Dixie and I don't ever plan on ever leaving her again. Merry Christmas from McMinnville, TN!

@ujslost You are absolutely correct about that! Both historically and behavior-wise. Dixie is Southern Belles, grits, history, manners, respect. I lived in Florida for a little while, there was nothing truly Southern about it. Country music, hats, and cowboy boots does not make you Dixie! Love from, Alabama!

The spirit of Dixie is not what Floridians claim it to be, not what they have turned it into down there. Just because you listen to country music, fly a rebel flag, and wear boots does not make it Dixie. Southern, yes...so southern in fact that Florida is considered a Latin majority state, but not Dixie.

Alabama ripped this song off (eg. copied it note for note) from an Australian TV

show called Prisoner. It was especially written as the TV show theme by Alan Caswell.

The TV show first used it in 1979, Alabama release "Christmas in Dixie" in 1982, so do the maths.

But because both Alan Caswell and Alabama are signed to Sony, no action has been taken as Sony would effectively be suing themselves.
