  • my rocky mtn horse gets a bit pacey as she speeds up. the secret first is to get their back end strong with miles and miles of flat foot walk. That is what strenghtens the hind end to support the reach for the front. Then, slowly move her up in speed, but only to the point where she starts to get pacey, then pull her speed down into the good gait. Your mare is doing a nice running walk at first, then she gets a bit pacey. There is a very slight difference in speeds there.

Yeah we have been riding her more and I learned riding on icelandic horses... I remember that they need some time to run themselves in their gaits... and with her it's the same.... the longer we ride the more comfortable she gets.... I noticed that I can get her into 3 different gaits... foxtrott, I think they call it the pasi trote or trocha and then the pace....

  • GORGEOUS little mare.. good cross
