If your computer does not show a "Ringtones" tab then save the files to your desktop. Rename and simply add .m4r to the end and then drag from the desktop to the device which you are trying to apply the tones to. **Pls thumb up so ppl can see**

It will come up with 2-3 program but one of them is 'show or hide file extension' click on that and their is an option says 'Hide extension for know file type' unmark then finish.............wooo take me a while to find out.

I'm really on the fence for the new IPhone 4S, but it's shit like this that's keeping me from shelling out. Putting a ringtone on a phone should be nothing more than copying any old MP3 file over and selecting it to be the ringtone. What's the deal with the stupid time limit and having to re-encode? This is unacceptable, even more so when it comes from a manufacturer that takes pride in and charges a premium for being easy to use.

@L0veHackerz Not sure if you already solved the problem but if not you can try this: Make sure youa re displaying the file extensions if you are using windows. That way you can actually change the file extension, and not just the file name. Otherwise, it will look like this "ringtone.m4r.m4a" with m4a staying as the file type.

It is a great program but i feel it is a little complicated, i find another software to make my own ringtone, which is Boilsoft RingTone Converter, it is very easy to use

If you don't see the file extension (.m4a or .m4r) you need to configure your version of Windows to not hide the file extension. Google how to do this.

If you don't see create "AAC Version", you might have an old version of iTunes. Upgrade to the latest one. - that solved it for me.
