Well if you listen really carefully, the solo in Whole Lotta Love is the famous Telecaster that was given to Page as a gift from Jeff Beck. It is also used on the solo in Stairway. Just thought I should point that out, If you really listen you can hear what I'm talking about.

@Chaz6993X Sorry Chaz - you really need to look up some interviews with Page. He has stated NUMEROUS times that the Tele was used, with the wah added for extra treble. The tone of the guitar is NOT a Gibson - it practically bleeds Fender - he may have used the LP during some parts of the song (and album) but the Tele WAS used on the 2nd album - according to his interviews.

Jimmy Page, in an interview with Guitar World Magazine (among other sources), said that the solo on Stairway To Heaven was played on a 1959 Felder Telecaster ran through either a Supro or a Marshall amplifier. Not sure where you heard your info but I'll take Jimmy's word over your's.

That was actually Jimmy Page and clips from other classic rock songs. He has a fine relationship with Gibson. He plays their new Guitars like the Les Paul Robot and consults with them on working the bugs out...Me, I just noodle around a bit on the guitar, off and on again since the late 70's.
