I was so sad to hear the news about Vesta's death. I still have her tapes- that's all they made back then- and still play them from time to time. She was a true diva who could sing her butt off, but never got her deserved props. I miss the kind of music she made. You just can't find that kind of quality anymore. She is still one of the best singers out there regardless and will be missed. RIP.

I've at times heard great singers with poor production and/or songs or great production/songs with so-so singers, but Vesta had the unique combination of good songs and great singing. There are so many artists from the 80s/early 90s that were limited (as the charts were not as crossed over as they are now) and these artists with immeasurable talent never got the recognition (or financial accolades) deserved.

Man I was a young kid when this came out, to small to understand what this song meant. But ain't it funny and sad how this song will live on forever and most of the songs they make today only last for a year or so.

This song always brought tears to my eyes. Not because I went through it. Because I'd feel what pain someone would go through. And Vesta sang it with all her heart. The last chorus really brought it home.

This song is so true to me right now! The only difference is that I'm a male and the young lady I was interested in didn"t tell me that she is engaged to be married. I'am really hurt by this because I had so much trust in her. And right now to this day,she still hasn't confessed that she is getting married to another man. @12qm ...AGREED. I still can't believe that she never had any certified gold albums. I've at times heard great singers with poor production and/or songs or great production/songs with so-so singers, but Vesta had the unique combination of good songs and great singing. There are so many artists from the 80s/early 90s that were limited (as the charts were not as crossed over as they are now) and these artists with immeasurable talent never got the recognition (or financial accolades) deserved.
