Eric Cantor is right-the whole country should not have to pay for disaster relief-this is a states issue. I will work with my colleague's Cantor, Boehner and the rest of the GOP to pass legislation regarding this issue!

@Tounushi These Republican ass-wipes are passing a bill that changes state funeral assistance laws. The new bill allows the state to burn the bodies and keep the remains. So now if your wiped out in a natural disater and your whole family dies, you not only lose your home, life savings but all rights to your loved ones bodies. How about working on job creation legislation instead of laws that restrict peoples rights to vote, reproduce and purchase health care.
Stripe64, you dipshit the problem is our congressmen, banks, and rich fucking cunts.
Time is getting shorter. Before my life ends, I swear to you I will have the skull of one or more of the 112th congressmen, hanging above my toilet, so they have to eat my shit for a change. Also, I say we create a party, an internet party, sharing emails and personal numbers without interuption from rich or stupid people. a party for those who want to end this once and for all.
The Christian Republican treatment of military servicewoman this Memorial Day : "on May 24, the Republican leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives shut down debate on an amendment that would have provided abortion services to military women who become pregnant as a result of rape." Christian Republicans want raped soldiers to have to scramble about for medical care.
Yeah, "Republicans care about the military." Fuck you Republican assholes.
@beesleeper I guess you could call me pro-life because I'm anti-abortion.. The only thing is is that I am pro-life 100% of the time, unlike Republicans who forget about the sanctity of life when it comes to providing food, education, shelter, healthcare and so on.
We can spend millions on victims of disasters around the world or aid to Israel, but when it comes to our own, we have to make concessions. This highlights the distinct diffrences between the left and right in this country.
Helping the poor and the middle class isn't the GOP thing to do. But if the vacation homes for the rich that they love to cater to has been hit by the tornadoes than that relief check would have been signed so fast the friction would have caused the check to catch fire.
@blazingeagle308 That what Republicans are all about, aid the elite while taxing the less fortunate. Thats was Plato's intention was when he popularized the idea of a Republic in "Platos Rebublic".
The GOP, as a whole should be fired(at the least)for crimes against humanity...Semi-Treasonous acts of short-sighted greed, made by those that are supposed to be public servants for The People!!!
@DeepSouth16 That must be why the Republicans haven't balanced the budget since 1957, when Eisenhower was president, right? It has been roughly 54 years since the Republicans accomplishes such a feat.
@DeepSouth16 What a surprise that people are really suffering right now, yet idiots like you make light of a tragedy by liking it to you needing a band aid. Stay classy.
@gotitans999 The funny thing about people like you is that I don't get whether you believe people should have enough sitting around to blow on a new house should something like that happen or not. If you don't then you should sympathize with someone like this because the same thing could happen to you. If you do have that kind of money lying around then you're selfish because the little bit of money it will cost you is minuscule compared to them losing everything they have.
@angst101 No, of course I think federal funds could be used for rare natural disasters to help fellow man. But I also think that the private free market should pay higher insurance (to a small degree they do) if they choose to live in a known hazardous area. Living on the east coast in Florida for example caries a high risk. If you like the living on the beach, weigh the costs. If you want to live in an area that often gets flooded, pay higher insurance. If you like tornado alley, beware.
@angst101 I'm just saying for the vast majority the free market should determine their own benefits/costs. What happens is people like me who choose not to live in a high risk area must always pay for everyone that does. All of the collective federal funds keep going to the same people. I understand flukes can happen, but if we're talking about tornado alley, below sea level people, or typical coast line hurricanes, that's very common. It's a known choice some want to make, not everyone.
@gotitans999 I understand what you mean, but I'll agree to disagree. There are people that live in areas they grew up in because they were born there & want to stay close to their families. There are people who live with their families that are too young to move out on their own who lose their homes & possessions too. It's not always as simple as choosing to live somewhere safe or not.
@gotitans999 So can I ask where it is safe? There is pollution where I live because of the steel industry, the coast has hurricanes, California has earthquakes, & many other state have wildfires. By the way, you live in one of those states that has wildfires. You also lead the nation in avalanches year round & probably have a decent amount of annual snow related deaths year round, so I guess your high risk as well. Should we abandon states that have such risks to our well being?
@DeepSouth16 -- U.S. Democratic Senators from across the country did stand with advocates for homeless veterans to strongly oppose the Republican cut of the program for homeless veterans
So you see, even when it comes down to saving human life, the republicans won't help you unless it's attached to one of their pet projects like medicare. It's disgusting.
If we really had money we wouldn't owe over 14 trillion, but I agree that they shouldn't be giving tax breaks to the big businesses and hope it trickles down. That just doesn't work...
I don't think it would be nuts to vote Ron Paul 2012
Maybe if the Democrats stopped their TRILLION DOLLAR SPENDING SPREES, there would be more money available to help people. Hell, Obama just gave BILLIONS to Egypt. Don't blame Republicans just because Democrats can't budget money for shit.
@JimboVids Hey you fucking hillybilly dumbass piece of shit. You are STUPID and you have been successfully BRAINWASHED by the right wing and limpdick. You think the RepubliCONS don't spend TRILLIONS of dollars on waste and fraud? In your DUMBASS brain, which has been brainwashed to thinking DEMOCRATS spend spend spend and ONLY democrats spend. Because it's easy to fool a LOWLIFE piece of SHIT like you. All they have to do is repeat a lie over and over again and you fall for it.
You fucking retard. Obama spent more money in his first year in office than Bush did in all 8 years combined!. Educate yourself, you inbred liberal faggot.
@JimboVids That's a blatant lie on your part. Why do you have to be so disingenuous? Obama only spent 3,517.7 billion in his first year, vs the 20,955.82 billion Bush spent within his 2 presidential terms. I find it rather ironic that you are telling people to educate themselves when you are the one that doesn't know the facts. There is no way that any president is going to outspend Bush after he pushed us through 2 wars. Whether the president be a Republican, or Democrat.
@JimboVids Just like every other time someone comes on here quoting republican talking points, I'll ask you when was the last time the GOP balanced the budget?
You keep voting Democrat it seems you get the same damn thing. How about the American street demand that the rich get taxed a lot. Time to take it to Wall Street, they tanked the economy, they should pay.
I don't get how they could ever defend something like this. If they were willing to cut defense spending, subsidies for big oil and raise taxes for the rich I might think they are just very very serious about lowering the debt. But they won't cut anything that is truly wasting all of our money. So it is blatantly obvious they are corrupt. In interviews, in townhalls in anything how do they not get grilled on this shit??
They are willing to bail out any bank and yet when it comes to those who have lost everything, he turn and say NO. At the end he will loose, like the rest.
@Wolfau5 Either YOU'RE part of the solution, or YOU'RE part of the fuckin' problem, so take YOUR stuck-up ass off YOUR high horse and take a GOOD FUCKIN' LOOK AROUND, "MATE", 'cuz YOU'RE BEING JUDGED HARSHLY, TOO! America's not the ONLY country where CONSERVATIVES (who "happen" to be Republicans in America) leverage their ill-gotten gains to ruin it, despite the efforts of the middle class and the poor! The money in YOUR country is going into THEIR pockets, too!
@dukenthaylor Please show me an example in the last 50 years where one of the major political parties have said "we won't help victims of a disaster until you do something to fuck over our constituents"?
Till then, don't be so quick to assume every country is as fucked as yours.
@Wolfau5 How could i NOT assume your country is fucked up? You keep avoiding even mentioning that little tidbit of where YOU'RE from! LOL! C'mon! SACK UP, "MATE"! What country ARE you from? Because it's pretty pathetic to judge and hate on MY country when, in the middle of your timid little judgement-fest, you're too CHICKEN-SHIT to even reveal the name of YOUR OWN! Even if I'll KNOW it's more fucked than MANY (INCLUDING MINE), that's no reason why you can't show even a LITTLE national pride! XD
@dukenthaylor "How could I not assume your country is fucked up?" You hold judgement until you have some reason to believe you know what the hell you're talking about, its incredibly easy actually.
I would've happily told you my country of birth (along with the countries I've lived/worked in), I wasn't hiding it intentionally, but reading your comment I see no point, I don't have anything I need to prove to you.
National pride is wanting to make your country the best it can be, not deluding...
YAY REPUBWICANS! THEY R FITING THEM LIBBARUL DEMPOCRAPS!!! THANK GOD ON HI MY LAPTOP DID NOT GIT DESTORIED IN THA TORNEDOUGH SO I KAN GIV DUMBOKRAPS WHAT FORE
@bladex2056 The reason that we are having more intense storms and they are becoming more frequent is because the climate is changing due to (I hate to say it) global warming. It has been proven that the Earth is warming up.
@jpr422 The reason we are having more "intense" tornadoes is because in 2007 they changed how they rated tornadoes. An EF5 is equivalent to an F4 on the old system.
In 2006 there were 2 F4s (which would be EF5s by todays standards). In 2005, 1 F4. In 2004, 5 F4s. In 2003, 9 F4s. In 2002, 5 F4s. In 2001, 6 F4s. In 2000, 3 F4s.
So between 2000-06, there were 31 F4 tornadoes. That would amount to 31 EF5 tornadoes.
In 2007-08, there were 2 EF5s. 0 from 09-10. 4 in 2011. Thats 6 total.
Only in a country this messed up, you will give billions to Goldman Sachs for their 'bailout' but when parts of the country are ravaged by disaster, well your on your own... Yea, great bunch of guys (sarcasm).
The Republicans are going after their own supporters. First the elderly and now their southern and central states following. Billion is subsidizes for the oil companies but noting for the middle class.
You can spin this any way you want. Bottom line is, FEMA is already funded for this. The money FEMA is asking for doesn't exist, so the government must BORROW this money. Hence more debt. The GOP is sticking to their guns forcing non essential spending to be cut to direct the money to where it is truly needed like FEMA, but the LEFT are the ones that truly block this funding.
@ytgv3fc7 You could have a politcal revolution and oust all the corrupt politicians. That could help. But oh wait... I forgot. American people are far too complacent to bother trying to do anything for themselves in their own country to better the country for everyone. Why should they upset their nice comfy little lives for the sake of others. Thats just insanity after all. >_> Fucking disgusting.
@flug747 Leaving out? I'm leaving out all the low-cost items that are also not theft.
It's a real good idea to focus on the most expensive (military) and most fraudulent (bailouts). Together that's more than 5x the funds needed for things like food-stamps, medicare and such.
Yep, I know, the rich get poorer, the poor get richer. The world is flat. The ice age is coming. Life begins at conception, ends at birth. And facts are for pussies.
You're an interesting mix between denial (taxes are cut, at least for the rich) and stupidity (my last post was in-your-face irony; I don't know how that could have been more obvious).
@ytgv3fc7 That's were you're dead wrong. There is plenty of money but it's the corporations who now hold it because people like you voted in republicans. Ask yourself, why is the CEO's still getting millions upon millions when people like us are struggling just to make mortgage payments.
I am Canadian, a "socialist" and against all things "Republican" and right-wing. Always.
I'm also against fraud & lies.
There's NO money left because the military & bank bailouts took it & are taking more. Go get that money back & you'll be fine. TAXATION is not the answer. PURE TAKE-DOWN DISINTEGRATION of those banks is the answer. Arms dealer? SEIZE ALL ASSETS.
This is STOLEN money. You TAKE IT BY FORCE, fuck taxes.
@flug747 no I'm not crazy, I just put up with 0% bullshit. Those criminals stealing money for "bailouts" should be stormed using thousands of people with rocket launchers and killed. All the money should be taken by force ALL DAY EVERY DAY until it is all recovered.
Trillions were stolen. It's treason NOT to fight back.
Not only is Paul Ryan for cutting the MAX TAX RATE on the super-rich from 35% to 25% but he's also pushing to cut the Capital Gain & Dividend tax rates from 15% to 0%
Now...whereas the middle class overall may be getting on avg about 5% of their income from Cap Gains & Dividends, the IRS web site tells us that the super-rich get more than half of their income from Cap Gains & Dividends
This means that under Ryan's plan many of the super rich will be paying around 5% as others pay 30%+
@DillonDee1 "Now...whereas the middle class overall may be getting on avg about 5% of their income from Cap Gains & Dividends"
There's the problem: everyone should drop their taxed income by working less, reporting less, and putting the rest into paper investments that are tax-shielded and into gold+silver. And effing LEAVE tornado land. Wake up, you know it's dangerous, DO NOT LIVE THERE. You should know better
i dont object to states being responsible for taking care of their own tornado damage
And I live in Texas where we definitely dont need federal relief for our recent fires as our state is getting many extra billions from recent oil discoveries in our state
@tzimtzum1618 Ya, I'm serious. If you live where it's stupidly dangerous you're asking for it. Don't keep living there & expecting others to pay you to keep doing it by helping you out over and over. Ever.
Do it once, maybe, then leave. OR you pay your own way through the disaster because you're pig-headed.
In Canada we TOLERATE our super-cold temperatures and we are fine. Otherwise we'd leave the cold areas when needed. Idiots stay where they get killed.
@ytgv3fc7 So the entire population of Kansas, Missoura, Oklahoma, etc, should leave? Maybe California should vacate because of earthquakes? Hey Florida, get out of there, might get a hurricane. As a fellow Canuck, I would like to say Shut the Fuck up! You're making us all look like dipshits.
@crashinevitable Should you find a place that's not often hit, then by all means stay. If you keep getting it expect to pay for the recovery yourself. It's unfair to drain everyone else for being smarter than living there. I won't live there. "Hey Florida, get out of there, might get a hurricane"
Yup - those living where hurricanes hit deserve to be punished for their stupidity and NO ONE ELSE should EVER EVER EVER pay for it. EVER.
You make YOURSELF look like a dipshit, I'm speaking TRUTH
@ytgv3fc7 Just take a second to think this through. Tornado Alley is mostly affecting areas with farm land. You know, the people who grow your food. The fishery industry is located in coastal areas, areas most likely affected by hurricanes and tsunami's. The point is, most people choose to live where they do because it is usually where they make their living. If everyone lived in areas where it is safe, we would not only have a large over-population problem, but also a food shortage problem.
@crashinevitable If you can figure a safe time to move away then return then do it. Don't stay & expect everyone to pay for it. It's not my problem, I'm not paying for it. We already have a large over-population problem, this won't make it much worse. We already have a food shortage problem so it's not making a difference.
@theotherhands Southern Ontario, devoid of all such natural disasters. Also has snow in the winter (less now with global warming) which is enough to ensure we don't get toxic insects & reptiles like some other climates I would otherwise like to live in.
@tzimtzum1618 Actually I got a genius idea: anyone who believes over-population is a hoax should be living in trailers in Tornado Alley. Problem solved.
@ytgv3fc7 Well the truth is for our economy to function we need ppl living and working in all these areas. Farming in the Midwest/Southeast, shipping on water fronts that could be hit with hurricanes and floods. The only place I do agree with the they should move idea is the Hollywood hills because the live there simply for status and it serves no real economic function for them to be there.
@tzimtzum1618 Well that's pretty sad. To survive as an economy you need people to be killed in dangerous areas you KNOW they are going to die in, so net-flow of money is a loss of life & property to them, a gain for everyone else. That's really wrong-headed. I'm sure there's quite a lot of space you can live in that's near but not IN the tornado zones.
Oil companies made 36 billion in profit. The Republicans wants to give the oil companies 23 billion dollars of tax payers money anyway, Our brothers and sisters suffering from weather disaster are spit on by the Republicans. But don't worry, Republicans will wrap themselves in God, Country and Main Street to get elected. Once eleceted Republicans will spit on God, Country and Main Street.
House Leader Eric Cantor REFUSES To Give Emergency Money to Joplin Missouri Tornado Victims, FIRE HIM! What the hell, Eric Cantor? Your soul will rot in hell with every other member of Congress who refuses to give federal relief money immediately to the Joplin, Tornado victims.Only an ass of a man would truly, seriously have the chutzpah to dare deny these people the economic support of America." and that was a quote from Christwire a conservative religious right wing
A. No money, not able to borrow more money and printing money inflates the currency.
B. Complete blockheads in Washington D.C. fighting to cut child food stamps and medicare, but not even looking at cutting military.
C. A huge ass government. If people haven't noticed by now, government sucks ass at getting things done. Look at hurricane Katrina. Look at the Mississippi River flooding. Government can suck my balls, the tornado victims are on their own.
In Missouri a pastor for a congregation that lost it's church building was going amount the victims writing checks In the clip I see he asked only 2 questions Is a 100 enough Are you sure America sent trucks of money to NYC post t9/11 I hope NYC is returning the favor. Wall Street and the banks should send some of the bail out money.
@cheshirecat1212 uugh military conflict is a given but I have lost faith in a revolution since More than half of Americans are brainwashed fat idiots the truth hurts but the thing that stings the most is that is true. The only way there might be a revolution is if everyone was out of money and couldn't sustain a living anymore but until then no. Oh, almost forgot about the gov paying for this damage I don't know it is nature not much you can do. Then again the gov is supposed to help us.
@froggymicwop I kinda like to see a Democratic Democracy anyways, works for Japan, why not us? I can imagine how better things would be if Al Gore had been president, green jobs, Bin Laden dead before we even knew his name, 80 year olds looking like 23 year olds
stabilizing the country is an essential part of what governments do. Taking taxes is essential in thay case to restore order. What's the point of your wealth if your country its burning to the ground?
Socialism for the rich ( Wall St. bailout etc ) Free market economy for storm victims. The really big lie is that the economy is bad. It's a great economy if you're wealthy.
you turks are just as part of the problem as those you hate, you say the republicans wants to give yer money to millionairs, well all you want to do is give it to someone else, either way yall think others money is yours and you can use it as YOU see fit, sure its a disaster but that still dont mean shit to me. EVERYONE thinks they have the"right " idea, pls we dont need anymore ideas
@stillrob420 Well, Mr. 420, the Republicans in fact do want to give money to millionaire and billionaires. The TYT's pointing that out has nothing to do with spreading hate. They are just pointing out the obvious.
Your personal feelings aside, one of the purposes of govt - any responsible, effective govt. in the real world - is to assist people (fellow tax payers) when they are affected by adversity through no fault of their own. Natural disasters are no-brainers for the govt to get involved.
@DiamondChrome42 thats what insurance is for, and other peoples money is not mine. Why cant i just go to a bank and take the money and say " hey i need it " life aint fair.
@Zryuken and another thing you must be very selfish if your heart isn't bleeding for those who have lost their lives, your family must really love you
@stillrob420 Well Taxes is in a way "take Money" from someone. We pay taxes in order to get a socaity that works. From Deffence, education, courts and so on. In most Coutries you also get some form of security.
Obama is an absolute liar, a vicious warmonger and a dem version of Bush. he's in the pockets of the corporate and military industrial crooks. he's not even for the environment as he lies he is, he's trying to overturn the work done by other democrats who followed him in.
I think the Republicans have one goal. To destroy their own party. There's no way in hell that party will last much longer with such insanity. The climate is changing, and if we can't adapt with it. Soon every other town in the planet will look like this.
has anyone else ever wondered, that the rapture DID happen, but the gods looked

Helping the poor and the middle class isn't the GOP thing to do. But if the vacation homes for the rich that they love to cater to has been hit by the tornadoes than that relief check would have been signed so fast the friction would have caused the check to catch fire.

Should I be required to pay for your house on the Florida coast after a hurricane?
gotitans999 9 months ago
@gotitans999 The funny thing about people like you is that I don't get whether you believe people should have enough sitting around to blow on a new house should something like that happen or not. If you don't then you should sympathize with someone like this because the same thing could happen to you. If you do have that kind of money lying around then you're selfish because the little bit of money it will cost you is minuscule compared to them losing everything they have.
angst101 9 months ago
@angst101 No, of course I think federal funds could be used for rare natural disasters to help fellow man. But I also think that the private free market should pay higher insurance (to a small degree they do) if they choose to live in a known hazardous area. Living on the east coast in Florida for example caries a high risk. If you like the living on the beach, weigh the costs. If you want to live in an area that often gets flooded, pay higher insurance. If you like tornado alley, beware.
gotitans999 9 months ago
@angst101 I'm just saying for the vast majority the free market should determine their own benefits/costs. What happens is people like me who choose not to live in a high risk area must always pay for everyone that does. All of the collective federal funds keep going to the same people. I understand flukes can happen, but if we're talking about tornado alley, below sea level people, or typical coast line hurricanes, that's very common. It's a known choice some want to make, not everyone.
gotitans999 9 months ago
@gotitans999 I understand what you mean, but I'll agree to disagree. There are people that live in areas they grew up in because they were born there & want to stay close to their families. There are people who live with their families that are too young to move out on their own who lose their homes & possessions too. It's not always as simple as choosing to live somewhere safe or not.
angst101 9 months ago
@gotitans999 So can I ask where it is safe? There is pollution where I live because of the steel industry, the coast has hurricanes, California has earthquakes, & many other state have wildfires. By the way, you live in one of those states that has wildfires. You also lead the nation in avalanches year round & probably have a decent amount of annual snow related deaths year round, so I guess your high risk as well. Should we abandon states that have such risks to our well being?

@bladex2056 The reason that we are having more intense storms and they are becoming more frequent is because the climate is changing due to (I hate to say it) global warming. It has been proven that the Earth is warming up.
jpr422 9 months ago

DillonDee1 9 months ago 2
@DillonDee1 "Now...whereas the middle class overall may be getting on avg about 5% of their income from Cap Gains & Dividends"
There's the problem: everyone should drop their taxed income by working less, reporting less, and putting the rest into paper investments that are tax-shielded and into gold+silver. And effing LEAVE tornado land. Wake up, you know it's dangerous, DO NOT LIVE THERE. You should know better

tzimtzum1618 9 months ago
@tzimtzum1618 Ya, I'm serious. If you live where it's stupidly dangerous you're asking for it. Don't keep living there & expecting others to pay you to keep doing it by helping you out over and over. Ever.
Do it once, maybe, then leave. OR you pay your own way through the disaster because you're pig-headed.
In Canada we TOLERATE our super-cold temperatures and we are fine. Otherwise we'd leave the cold areas when needed. Idiots stay where they get killed.
ytgv3fc7 9 months ago
@ytgv3fc7 So the entire population of Kansas, Missoura, Oklahoma, etc, should leave? Maybe California should vacate because of earthquakes? Hey Florida, get out of there, might get a hurricane. As a fellow Canuck, I would like to say Shut the Fuck up! You're making us all look like dipshits.
crashinevitable 9 months ago
@crashinevitable Should you find a place that's not often hit, then by all means stay. If you keep getting it expect to pay for the recovery yourself. It's unfair to drain everyone else for being smarter than living there. I won't live there. "Hey Florida, get out of there, might get a hurricane"
Yup - those living where hurricanes hit deserve to be punished for their stupidity and NO ONE ELSE should EVER EVER EVER pay for it. EVER.
You make YOURSELF look like a dipshit, I'm speaking TRUTH
ytgv3fc7 9 months ago
@ytgv3fc7 Just take a second to think this through. Tornado Alley is mostly affecting areas with farm land. You know, the people who grow your food. The fishery industry is located in coastal areas, areas most likely affected by hurricanes and tsunami's. The point is, most people choose to live where they do because it is usually where they make their living. If everyone lived in areas where it is safe, we would not only have a large over-population problem, but also a food shortage problem.
crashinevitable 9 months ago
@crashinevitable If you can figure a safe time to move away then return then do it. Don't stay & expect everyone to pay for it. It's not my problem, I'm not paying for it. We already have a large over-population problem, this won't make it much worse. We already have a food shortage problem so it's not making a difference.

@ytgv3fc7 Well the truth is for our economy to function we need ppl living and working in all these areas. Farming in the Midwest/Southeast, shipping on water fronts that could be hit with hurricanes and floods. The only place I do agree with the they should move idea is the Hollywood hills because the live there simply for status and it serves no real economic function for them to be there.
tzimtzum1618 9 months ago
@tzimtzum1618 Well that's pretty sad. To survive as an economy you need people to be killed in dangerous areas you KNOW they are going to die in, so net-flow of money is a loss of life & property to them, a gain for everyone else. That's really wrong-headed. I'm sure there's quite a lot of space you can live in that's near but not IN the tornado zones.
