Yes, it IS a "Mastadon". That was one of the names given to this wheel arrangement. I know on the Butte, Anaconda and Pacific, the 4-8-0's where called by this name. When I think twelve wheeler I think of UP's 4-12-2's.

That 4-8-0 can pull 100 cars with no problem at all. that is what it was built for all those years ago.
