MMC was formally known as the Mickey Mouse Club when it debuted in 1955. When Disney (c) revamped the show in 1993 to reflect SNL's successful skit orientation, subsequent children's t.v. stations (i.e Nickelodeon) followed suit and thus the decade of phenomenal children's programs were born. Nickelodeon intro'ed All That in 96, followed by the Amanda Show in 98, both of which were great. Basically, Disney (c) was the Goddam GENIUS that made my childhood AMAZING!! End of pop culture lesson ;)

If it weren't for YouTube, I wouldn't know what to tell my kids in the future about the great shows from the past. Disney and Nick were what defined my childhood. Did you ever check out the new block on TeenNick called, "The 90's are ALL THAT"? There are reruns of 90s shows like CatDog, Kenan and Kel, Clarissa, and All That! They're adding more shows to the block as well!

omg i think i am legit gonna cry, this was the good ole disney, where the kids were actually talented, cud sing, dance, act, perform, entertain!!! until about 2004, disney n nickelodeon were the shit, then lizzie mcguire, even stevens, kim possible, n (i cant recall the rest rite now 4 fear of waterworks) were ending n hannah montana n that era of diseny was beginning...

Yeah a lot of kids that were on MMC became famous : Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Ryan Gosling, Keri Russel.

And from what I've heard Jessica Simpson and Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys were auditioning for MMC as well. Although Jess wasn't good enough and lost to Britney while Nick resigned amd decided to join BSB in 1993.

Remember when Disney endorsed Britney Spears, N*Sync, Christina Aguilera, B*witched, Steps, Tatayana Ali, LFO, Samantha Mumba, 5ive, M2M & I think the Backstreet Boys or they just played them too much lol. And we watched them introductory concerts. I had all those CD's except for LFO's, I thought they sucked. I still heart B*Witched & STEPS first albums. And CA's, BS & BSB's too!

I swear there had been a marathon one day back in 2000 or earlier of episodes. I remember sitting and watching it. It was definitely after Britney, NSYNC, and Christina had exploded on the pop charts.

@glows - this was recorded from that marathon, if you watch the last 20sec or so you see the "Disney" logo in the bottom right, Disney Channel had no on screen logo until 1997

It's true, there have been many petitions before, and Disney is still making crappy shows for the kids who have become brainwashed by Hannah Montana....so they don't really help. Wish they did. I was about fourteen when we finnaly got the disney channel free, i got about a year of the good stuff from the 80s like kids incorporated, and the old silly symphonys, and that was it then they did vault disney where I enjoyed some of the classics that my perants grew up with after of course they had a documentry about the origianal micky mouse club and about 2 monthes latter started to air the origional episodes but it was late in the night and I did not get to see many of them.

In the old days of disney channel they showed disney movies often like flight of the navigator and disney cartoons from all the time periods, and ghost busters, yea it was some good memories, they did not play the same shows over and over five times a day, they played stuff that was several years old as far as seasons, butit had more varity of shows at the appropriate time of day/
