  • This is THE only commercial with REAL emotions. Just watch it a couple of times. When I really got the message of this commercial I started liking it even more. So simple, without spoken words, only sound, colour and some text. Simplicity at it's best!

  • Very nice!

  • Frank Budgen, Sam Heath and Chris Groom - you have made the best advert ever aired on British television.

Had I an award, I would give it to you. Walk tall.

  • Mirror's Edge in real life.

  • is this suppose to be 3D ? that kinda hurt my eyes. . .

  • It's nice when there's actually no dialogue for a change...

  • koyaanisqatsi anyone?

  • the 3d edges actually reminded me of a mushroom trip..Everything had these red/green edges..Nice soundtrack for a trip though ;) makes me nice and mellow

  • This is Barcelona

  • is there a reason this looks 3-D, but isnt?

  • @fignewton0000

I think they just split the red, green and blue channels and played them all out of sync with each other by a tiny bit. Actually, I think they're out of sync by less than a frame, which means they probably even used a different camera for each color. And then of course they cranked up whichever color represented the mode they were on. Probably unsynced it so they could still have the edges be the other colors they weren't on. I'm sure you wanted that long of an answer, right? ;)

  • why dose this car only seat 2?... i mean really th cargo thing in the back looks like a seat it could easly be one lol

  • Weed.

    That is all.

  • Soundtrack could well be Tim Hecker, but Hopkins is plausible too :) a VERY nice commercial, this

  • Jon Hopkins made the soundtrack.

  • Jon Hopkins made the soundtrack.

  • great great work!!!!! thank you so much!

  • hot fuck! the sound really goes with the picture just perfectly

  • that commercial i saw on tv was in 3D

  • Very nice advert, hope this will be my next car some day!

By the way, that city is Barcelona :)

  • Complete agree with Erwin Beekveld....

  • i'llmake sure never to apply to work for this agency...and by the way there is a major flaw...where does the red come from? the car's speedometer colours are light blue , dark blue and green...

  • @instantsurgery

You didn't even research the car you "did a campaign for"?

The dash lights are red when you are driving sporty, green when driving efficient, blue in-between.

  • i can't believe you like this piece of crap...i did a campaign for this car at uni and i'm not saying mine was better but this appalling...it says nothing at all...it's just three colours...wow big fucking deal...it just tells you about the three modes nothing about its driving capabilities or eco friendly engine...what a load of shit...

  • @instantsurgery there is different way of marketing, this one is not about technic but only about emotion, we like the commercial itself, not the car.

  • @instantsurgery It is not nessesary to give much information. It's just a beautiful, original ad with a beautiful heavy artistic accent and an amazing futuristic atmosphere, so its not simply 'just three colours'...

  • @instantsurgery

You'd make sure they never work at your agency?

Well I'd never hire your agency for advertising a product more complex than a toothbrush..

You clearly don't notice the complexity of the ideas and presentation here.

And you think the textbook details that everyone tunes out anyways are important to the initial sell.

Those details are for comparison and can be introduced to the customer later.

Catching their attention in the first place ... that's what TV spot is for.

  • Love it as well, saw it on UPC. The car looks interesting but only 122hp wonder how it drives.

  • Sadly, they shortened the clip in the current Dutch TV adverts by cutting out some scenes. This ruins the whole contrast between relaxed (econ) and fast paced (sport). Shame, because it's a piece of art. You don't cut art.

  • awsome, who makes the soundtrack ? any1 know ?

  • @cesrrr01 Maybe some research on the content of the Credits below the video? Indeed amazing soundtrack

  • Definitely one of the most beautiful commercials ever created in existence.

  • Once I took psilocybin I felt the way this clip looks like...

  • wow nice edit..

i could have done better though for 300 thousand pounds less.

    where did the 500k go?

  • i love this commercial.. i really do! it may sounds weird, but everyone who have used MDMA once or more, will agree with me that this commercial is a reminder of a very intense, beautiful, deep and mindblowing mdma-trip. i can watch it over and over again

  • The "music" is very relaxing, great feeling. i'm looking for a mp3, anyone help me out?

  • It's a nice film, but as an advert it's totally useless.

  • This is without a doubt the most beautiful commercial I have ever seen/heard in my life. It speaks directly to my emotions and gives me goose bumps no matter how many times I watch it. And I don't even particularly like the car.

  • Watch this clip fullscreen and with headphones on: BEAUTIFUL!

  • there is something so eerie yet umistakenly beautiful about this video. perhaps a definition of just how close together and hazy such contrasts are.

I am not joking when i say i would die happily if this was somehow turned into a feature length film.

  • Frank. What have you done?

  • @alphen0031 I don't think you're far off. It's very, very similar. The ad seems slightly more sonic than that though. I've only found a few snippets on YouTube of his work. Thanks for pointing me in a new direction though. It's good

  • Cunningham in color

  • Reminds me of the movie Traffic. Soderberg used colour to express location and mood in that too and together with the music (this being a bit Cliff Martinez) it's pretty similar. It works brilliantly though

  • @alexuhlemann

Too late buddy, VW did it a couple of years ago with Cliff Martinez's Solaris Music but I know what you mean.

  • @ROVER25X

Yeah, that actually started my fascination with this type of music (especially used in ads, being in the industry myself) but I've been digging around for this track for a while now. Don't think it's 9 Beet Stretch but then again, I haven't the patience to listen to anything for 24hours straight to try and find out.

Any assistance or info out there would be appreciated

  • Best commercial ever.. Every time I hear/see it, i'm totally sucked in... A great dreamworld. And it works for Honda, too!

  • I love how tranquil and relaxing this advert makes me feel particularly the opening 20 seconds of it in ecco mode, is there a sound track to it or just music specially made for the ad?

  • Does anyone now the music? Been looking for it

  • @alexuhlemann Sounds to me as excerpts from Leif Inge's - 9 Beet Stretch a 24 hour stream is playing it you can find it via google

  • i love this advert. It sucks me in everytime it comes on with it's purposefully bad video quality reminiscent of VHS and its solaris-esque soundscape - its creates a wonderful sense of ambience and nostalgia.

It's perhaps a shame that it's primary purpose is to advertise. Superb video in its own right; add a few more minutes and id claim that its probably one of the best short stories i have ever seen

  • Honda, the "minimum power" of dreams. ¿Where does Honda go? ¿Where the racing heritage? ¿Where the new NSX? ¿Where the new "S"?¿Where the memory of VTI's and TypeR's? ¿Where the legendary DOHC VTEC engines? Fuck the green cars!. Bye, bye, Honda. I loved to you yesterday, today I ignore to you.

  • @punkyKat17

YOU are the motherfucker. Because people like you Honda goes wrong.

  • It's a mesmerizing commercial. It certainly does away with traditional advertising formats, and therefore I think it's awesome

  • Nice video

  • cool stuff

  • "Dubbed "RGB" (the initials denote the Red-Green-Blue video format), the initial 60-second TV spot was developed by Wieden + Kennedy London."

I saw this commercial a week ago on Dutch television. I don't care the slightest bit about cars, but I loved this ad. It has something mesmerizing...almost hypnotic. Played it even back several times!... Which brings me to think that the people who made this ad, are either creepy brainscientist or just insanely gifted drug users...

  • I really DO like the unearthly sounds in this commercial, especcialy at the ECON part of it. It's so surreal in a kind of way, I can watch it over and over again. I'd like to know where these sounds come from/how they'r generated...? Grtz

  • I don't know about this ad. Perhaps we've been spoilt by W+K's Honda spots in the past with slick ideas and adventurous execution, but this all feels a little, well, normal.

I've blogged my feelings about this ad in more detail. Google 'GrahamCreative' for more.

  • i think i like.
