well, actually that's way better style if u can still play accurately. u don't have to anchor ur pinky anywhere if u can play accurate without doing it. and that's hella faster when u get used to it.

play a chord progession in the background. base it around a g chord. if you do this you will get a phrygian dominant sound which is a very interesting mode that should be more popular than it is.

Hell yea i've been playing for three years now self tought and i can sweep pick do pinch harmonics and i'm great in the pentatonic, i'm not learning the A Harmonic minor scale and the Hungarian scale..but like he said practice practice practice! unfortunately i don't have any friends lol and my girlfriend thinks i have sex with my guitar cause i sleep with it.
