Ha! This video is great. I think this is one of the types of people who complains of how hard it is to get a job in Japan. I suggest adding the word "weeaboo" to the tag words list.
@RobotKoi :: you i wouldn't call myself an expert, since i've done all my interviews in person. but i imagine if you're personable, meet all the requirements, and you keep the conversation up + smile a lot, you can't go wrong.
@waigugi :: well i zoomed in on your face mostly cause it was funnier ahaha. but that time i zoomed in on me was cause you were laughing! ahaha! nonetheless well played, missy, ehehehe
yeah, a little extreme but good point none the less. haha. So many people tell me that they hear it's easy to live in Japan and teaching english is easy, just everything is easy about it, so I tell them, sure, go ahead try. I tell them it's hard, but give it a shot, It's even funnier when reality strikes and they start crying on youtube because it's not what they expected. Sad people can be so immature and ignorant.
I dunno.. Teaching jobs in Japan are only for survival atleast this is the #1 rule for all APU students and alumni... Most of us are foreigners, and most of us work in various industries in Japan.. A few work in english teaching, but even then most own schools. dunno.. I guess going to Uni in Japan allows you to make more connections, and do a proper job hunt. Its harder with english teaching unless you work at a private school then you can job hunt easily.
@lordblazer Wee bit elitist, are we? I personally know some of the foreign English professors at APU, and I wouldn't consider 7 million yen+ a year a "survival job". *sighhhhhhhhhh*
that's university level. I am speaking of middle school part-time job level that most students here do. STUDENTS. they have to pay their teachers @ APU something decent or else they really couldn't afford to come to work (oita kotsu bus cost 1000 yen round trip to and from campus & and driving is well not so bad ) anyway not trying to be elitist, but trying to state for those who pursue a career in Japan. English teaching is done between jobs to keep income coming in.
also I don't get this 7 million yen, but I dont teach english at APU, nor was I talking about APU english teachers. Yes I know some. hell I live next door to an APU english teacher, and I am close to some APU professors. They're quite interesting people. Anyway dude sorry for sounding elitist, and I did feel the need to clarify myself. I only know a few APU students who went on to teach English at APU its quite a rare thing. most other APU students I know who
teach english elsewhere really aren't getting paid that much. so many choose other industries in Japan. And use English teaching as a last resort to hold on to their visa status.
@lordblazer :: i understand your point of view, and i do understand that english teaching is not really held in high regard to many folks living in japan. but everyone's life in japan is unique, and i wasn't trying to generalize anything, especially foreigners. this video was only supposed to be silly! and for the record, i was really into second language acquisition since i majored in linguistics, and teaching in japan just happened to work for me. totally okay if it doesn't for someone else.
you should find out yourself man. but simply put foreigners have a lot more opportunity in Japan than what is perceived within the realm of english teaching. nothing wrong with doing that if it is your passion, but I have met a few where it isn't really their passion, and I wish they would try to branch out a bit and take a risk. its very rewarding. usually westerners play it the most safe here. most others are out making it happen.
seems like she used google translate when talking japanese
