I drink 4 tbsp (2 shots,480 cals) of flaxseed oil, straight, at one sitting, no other food. I have to drink it at least 4hrs before my next meal, or I wouldn't eat anything at all. Between-meals snacks no longer attract me. I eat enough at dinner that I feel as though I must've 'blown it" , & gained weight, but, in fact, I always lose! The feeling of "stuffing myself" is now achieved with a healthy amount of food.
@Entropy56 I lost 40 pounds using this method and I've kept the weight off. I'm around 180 lbs. Still not at my goal weight, but much better than when I started. I no longer drink oil every day and haven't for some time.
NOW lets convert. You are allowed 4Tbsp of oil on this diet. There are 15ml in 1 Tbsp, so you are consuming 60ml of oil daily. Now 60ml of oil equals 600mg of oil. The over dosage value, basically what you SHOULD NOT consume of lets say Vitamin E (best known healthy oil since we do consume it on a regular basis) is 1000mg. Clearly there is no harm drinking 4Tbsp of oil unless you have a high protein diet which I doubt anyone browsing a diet has unless you are a body builder -_-'
The ONLY proven unhealthy fact about the diet is the side effects of consuming too much oil daily (more than 4 table spoons is over kill) and it is pure oil and fat so I'm sure it could cause some health risk and the fact that they say you can eat anything when really being healthy isn't about eating anything BUT you can be healthy if u eat in moderation but due to the abundance of food especially unhealthy food and sweets which are cheaper than healthy food its rare to ever eat in moderation
Um...I know there isn't.......You didn't read my comment right or something cuz I said there was NO harm consuming olive oil unless you're on a high protein diet (like a body builder or something) or trying to obtain the look you get from a high protein diet. You lose weight but you aren't gaining any muscle so you lose weight and look healthy but its not toned really. You just look kind of feeble. Olive oil is actually heart healthy fat....so ya I know -.-
I was replying to your comment "it is pure oil and fat so I'm sure it could cause some health risk" in which you are clearly stating taht you think that the olive oil will cause health problems.
You contradict yourself. You also have no idea what you are talking baout re the "high protein diet".
@aussiejudoka No...just shows your level of intelligence. I said "I'm sure there is some health risk if you consume too much" meaning too musch of anything without moderation is bad examples vitamin C even water. Drinking too much water can actually cause water intoxication. Just as some hardcore dieters discover something, they might consume too much oil ignoring important nutrition the body still needs, But there is nothing wrong with consuming it in moderation as an appetite suppressant...
@aussiejudoka you would have realized that if you weren't some internet asshole trying to start some lame argument. So the lack of knowledge is only yours. Do your research before you try to contradict someone. Because I explained it clearly. it's ok in moderation but too much of anything can eventually lead to some sort of health risk. Even the purest solution can cause problems...water...and without fast and proper treatment that can cause damage. So no doubt too much oil could cause a risk.
@aussie But continue to argue. Clearly you can't process information. You see one thing &run with it, then want to start some ridiculous argument. Just shows what's really "in your skull" as you put it, or lack there of. Cya cuz this is a dead argument. If you don't know how to read &analyze info that's not my problem. That's like reading a sentence that says you should look before you cross a street but sometimes you don't have to. Then you argue that its okay not to cuz the sentence said so.
It's funny that you don't believe it because we are programmed to believe what people tell us to believe & ignore the simplicity right in front of us. If you understand the science behind it, something so simple is so genius O_O but of course nutritionist will tell you its bull crap because they won't have a job anymore will they? I never heard of the diet & picked up a copy of the book cuz it was on sale LMAO and I wanted to up my nutrition! I just started it 2days ago & I already lost 6.5lbs
To ManofManyPasswords...I read the book and it makes perfect sense. Yes 100g of olive oil contains about 900 calories but when u drink those 900 calories you may eat roughly 700-1000 calories a day if even that because you just AREN'T hungry. It kills your hunger and cravings. NOW, if you kick it up a notch and of that 700-1000 calories you eat are lets say a combo of unprocessed fruit and veggie meals, your body wont store none of that processed junk & the weight loss capabilities are endless.
Problems with weight loss ? you have to Worry no more . Get this new diet supplement and start losing weight fast easy and safe . Don't take risks with extreme diets. see more information at my channel
As a Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist, I can tell you that eating oil (or other fat) releases a hormone called CCK which tells your brain you've had enough to eat. FAT can help you eat less, but adding sugar to the mix is of no benefit for weight loss and just adds empty calories (zero nutrients).
There's alot of people who are successful with just the sugar. Including the founder of the diet, people prefer the oil because there added health benefits from certain oils. You should look into it and reserve judgement, checkout the forums on his site.
there are specific rules you need to follow. its an easy read just go to the bookstore and sit for a couple hours. dont just start swallowing olive oil! come now
Video is rather cute. I would prefer adding fish oil instead of one of the vegetable oils. Keep olive oil.
I got same result with a low carbohydrate diet. Some 3 years ago, I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. After trying Glycemic Index and other nonsense diets, I went low carb. I certainly lost my unwanted hunger and cravings from post high blood sugar spikes from high carbohydrate foods.
In a year on low carbs, I lost 10 Kg. I have stayed present less than 60 kg for last year.
also, what are the measurements for the mixing and how much oil... and can you do this diet if you aren't extremely overweight but need to loose around 20 pounds????
It should probably work for you. There have been people who have had problems for sure. It's not a magic pill that works for everyone, but it's worth a shot, especially since it's so easy. Also, you can try it in conjunction with some other program like weight watchers or jenny craig.
I have stopped doing the sugar, but originally I was adding it because I was having a tough time drinking the oil. Mixing the oil with water and a little sugar, makes it go down easier.
Eating other flavorless things would be good too, potato chips are more of a ditto food than we would like to admit.
But in addition to drinking the oil, I do things like have a bowl of oatmeal each day, no sugar, fruit or milk added. I eat as much unprocessed food as I can and avoid strong flavors and sauces when possible. Fresh fruit (which varies in taste) and fresh or frozen vegetables which are very light tasting are also good.
Let me clarify: I don't think potato chips will work. The idea is that junk food is so fattening and because it usually has a very strong flavor and always has a very consistent flavor. Chips with a very strong flavor may be more fattening than chips with more subtle flavors, but it still has a flavor. For flavorless calories you need to eat something that is virtually tasteless like extra light olive oil or sugar water.
The video is a little obtuse on purpose. It's a hard thing to explain, but if there are links in the description which should help you understand what the theory behind it is.
I will admit that his theory kinda loses me at the point of drinking oil too. The other parts about set point and ditto foods does make sense to me. But why oil works so well to bring down your set point, I don't know, it just does, at least for me.
I tried mixing the oil, sugar and water together the first time and I nearly gagged. Now I just take the oil with water. Much easier. I hold a little bit of water at the back of my throat and then holding my head back, I add the oil from a measuring spoon. Also, I just use Canola oil as it's much cheaper.
could you please tell me how you used the oil to lose weight. i am greatly dwesperate at 305 pounds at 21 years of age. im afraid if i accidentaly flaw in the process. i need someone with expertieze.
From a fellow successful SLDer (-27pounds so far drinking oil): Nice ad for the Shangri-La Diet, Mullaney. I like your choice of music, too. Makes me want to get up and do a little tribal fusion belly dancing :^D That olive oil keeps the joints limber and smooth, too -- weight loss and no pain -- how great is that?!
