IMHO he is the best pianist of all time. Better than Horowitz, Rachmaninoff, Serkin, Beethoven,Chopin, Liszt, Richter. After age 45 his skills, mental state and drive deteriorated somewhat so I will limit my critique to age 20-45. I actually put Serge van Gennip in his catagory, and he is an amateur.

...after listening to the Ivo/Scarlatti mother lode on the YT...all the other stuff begins to sound like the stale dog-urines of yesteryear...can the dog-urines really "sound"?...
