thank you for this vid! I have been trying to figure out a stitch for a blanket I want to make for my hubby---something that isn't so---girlie! This is PERFECT! ---I will say that it does take a lot of yarn. I am making a queen size to fit our bed---and I am only about 5 inches into it and have used a half a pound of yarn already...but it will be worth it...it is turning out really nice! thanks again
Thanks for sharing this. It is beautiful. I have already made a dish cloth with this pattern and I have started a pink baby blanket for my new little niece, Sophia who will be entering the world soon. I really like this stitch because it stays interesting and fun while working it.
Mikey... this is The Greatest pattern ... I have a very good friend Name Cindy who I wanted to make a tie for her son.. she gaven me 40 sick hours(I got hint by a car while on Christmas break visiting my Grandbabies- I driver a school bus and have not been able to go back to work- I now get to have a new knee in May).. and I wanted to re-pay her kindnest... this pattern has made a Great tie. I used a E crochet hook. Thanks so much you are the ..Best ever. Linda in Tucson Az
@KenshinForever When you're single crocheting, the chain you do at the turn just helps you get up 'high' enough for the single crochet stitch, and you don't really see the single chain at the beginning of the row. However, since you have to do three chains when you get up 'high' enough for the double crochet, it looks like a double crochet stitch. We skip the first stitch with double crochet because we're treating the chain three as a double crochet.
Thanks so much for your tutorials. I've learned a number of things from you. Even when I know how to do something already, it can be so helpful to see someone else do it. Are you familiar with foundation single crochet (fsc)? It makes a much nicer first row, IMHO, and avoids all those endless chains, and is really nice for crocheting into for a border.
I just LOVE this pattern. Simple and yet sooooo intricate looking. You are the BOMB Mikey! I am so blessed to have found you thru All Free Crochet. Even tho I've been crocheting for 37 years, your videos and The Crochet Crowd has changed my whole crafting business. God bless you.

just wondering, why do you skip the first stitch when your're double crocheting, but not when you're single crocheting?
