  • That`s a veary nice Guitar. And a great song.. I`m looking to buy a Guild. Tell me why you chose the Overseas model instead of the north american one. Other than the obvious cost, Is it solid or plywood..

  • Hi @KISSarmyist,

I wanted to play a Guild, when I saw that this model for left-handers were at a great price so I bought it and I'm not sorry at all: it is a guitar with a really good sound!... The woods are solid and well made, but if you want to buy a Guild, certainly sound better those madein the USA!...

  • I wish you could come to my shop and play a bunch of the leftys on video for me. I'm setting up to do that soon. We need more good lefty players on YouTube.

  • Excellent! You have great skill. I think it would be interesting if you also played it slower. Like if you were trying to make someone cry, because this is supposed to be a very emotional song. You are left handed. Left handed people are very creative.

  • Hi E0N7,

Thank you very much, it's nice to meet you,

    luca

  • I have this admiration for left-handed players, cause i was left handed until i reached primary school where the only way of writing was with the right hand e.e my brother's still lefty though, but he plays like a rightie too, still nice video, even if the music sucks (it doesn't :P ).

  • Hi,

it's hard for the left-hands!... ahaha!...

Nice to meet you and many thanks for stopping by!...

    luca

  • Stumbled upon you this afternoon and got to hear a real treat. Sometimes stumbling is good !!

    Best regards,

    luca

  • and on a side note, that other guy was incorrect. it is most definitely an irish tune called "londonderry air," and the lyrics were added later by an englishman.

  • you wouldn't happen to have sheet music, would you?

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent playing. Can you please advise your Guild guitar model and how old it is. I would like to try and get one - fantastic sound.

    thanks

    Douglas

  • Hi Douglas,

thank you very much for your appreciation!...

This guitar is a Guild GAD50 Lefthand model and I have bought it in february 2006. The guitar is exceptionally well made in China, with meticulous craftsmanship; the materials used in building this guitar are very good (woods are solid!) and the sound is rich, with a balanced tone from treble to bass; bone nut and saddle I'm sure help the incredible sustain. It plays nicely with flat pick or fingerstyle. You will enjoy with it!..

    luca

  • great guitar playing and beautiful sounding guitar too, i'm supposed to play this at my friends st. patty's party, but with singing... great work luca

  • Hi,

thanks for stopping by: much appreciated!...

I think that your exhibition will be optimal! Good music!...

    Cheers,

    luca

  • this is absolutely fantastic!

  • Oh!... thank you very much for your so kind appreciation!...

    See you soon,

    luca

  • it;s good but it is not an Irish song it is scottish,,

  • I don't know so, but it's ok, thanks for your precision!...

    luca

  • Excellent.....be proud.

  • hi,

    thank you very much!...

    luca

  • grandissimo, veramente fatta bene..

    luca

  • That sounds really beautiful, and you can definately get that old fasioned feel! it's very individual and very different to any other version that i've heard, i'd love to know where to find a good quality tab of this nature so if anybody can help i'd be very grateful, best wishes

  • Hi,

thank you very much for your kind comment, I'm glad that you like this tune!... Unfortunately, I can't give you the tablature, because I don't have it on paper!... I have founded this arrangement, in standard tuning, listening the versions of the tune, played from Franco Morone (in DADGAD). I'm sorry... but, if you are interesting, on YouTube HOFEI plays just this tune with a very interessant arrangement and the TAB can be found on his website: you can try with it!...

    All the best,

    luca

  • Muy bueno

  • Thank you very much.

    luca

  • kick ass bro!

  • I'd call the sound a touch gritty if anything. Personalizes it for me.

It really is amazing how much "juice" there is in a tune that can positively make you cringe when it's done badly.

  • Nicely done. That is a great arrangement. I think it would sound 10x better if you got yourself a decent mic that didn't pick up so much background noise.

  • Hi Steve,

many thanks for your comment... I'm sorry for the sound's quality, but my friend Simone (the cameraman!...) had only this fotocamera. For me, it's not so bad: there is an old fashion air, that I don't dislike...

    Best wishes,

    luca

  • Very nice playing. Lovely.

  • Hi,

thanks so much for your kind words.

    luca

  • It's okay but a bit robotic. You need to carress that guitar like it was a woman.

  • Fantastic. Awesome arrangement. I don't even know what to say man. This is just pure gold. One of the best versions I've ever heard. (I've heard a lot) I loved the chord choice and bass runs. It brought a hole new element to this song. Well done!

  • Hi Jack,

thank you very much for your kind appreciation, I'm glad that you like it!...

I wish you a merry Christmas...

    Best regards,

    luca

  • such a pity, that these days, the people who truly understand the theory of music and how to put it together aren't appreciated. a fantastic arrangement! I would love to hear a clean studio recording.

  • Hi,

thanks for your comment. For a cleaner recording of this tune, maybe in the future!...

    Best regards,

    luca

  • Seriously impressive,

I feel we both have a huge difference in guitar music, but I cant help but admire your technique, if you find the time do you think you could send me the tuning you used plus tabs?

    Once again

    Excellent =)

  • Hi,

  • Wow I Have Never Heard A Gutarist Play So Well!

  • Oh!... thank you very much... you are very kind!

    All the best,

    luca

  • Magnificent!!! Great tone and harmony movement. My fingerstyle is pathetic so I use a pick.Check out my video. It's a bit of Jazz

  • Hi,

    many thanks for your appreciation!...

I find your flatpicker's job on "Danny Boy" really excellent!... it's a very nice jazz harmonization!...

    Best regards,

    luca

  • I really love your playing.

As a fellow left handed guitarist into traditional music. What are your thoughts on the GAD 50?

  • Hi Jerry,

thank you for your kind appreciation.

Well, about this guitar, I can say that generally Guild-GAD guitars don't have a so good fame, maybe because made in China...

But, personally, I like very much Guild GAD50 sound: I find it rich, with a balanced tone from trable to bass. Bone nut and saddle, I'm sure, help the incredible sustain!... This guitar plays nicely with flat pick or fingerstyle: it really has one hell of tone!...

    All the best,

    luca

  • I am both half Mick and I play guitar, so i love fingerpicked guitar in general, but ESPECIALLY a good Irish tune. very well done, really enjoyed it.

  • Hi my dear "half Mick",

nice to meet you!... Thanks so much for your kind words!...

    All the best,

    luca

  • My god i am speechless, amazing, simply amazing, beautiful.. thank you for sharing.

  • Hi Zani,

thanks so much for your kind words!...

    Nice to meet you,

    luca

  • Very nicely done. There's always something moving about a well done finger-style piece.

  • Hi,

...yes, it's really as you said!...

Thanks so much for your comment.

    See you,

    luca

  • Great job. Geez,I always get teary-eyed when someone (who knows how to play it) plays it. Maybe 'cause I'm half Mick.

  • Hi Rainman,

thank you very much for your kind words: I'm not Mick, but this tune is really touching for me too!...

    Nice to meet you,

    luca

  • Oh!... Thanks so much for your kindness!...

    See you,

    luca

  • can we get a transcription of this?

  • Hi Brando,

I'm glad that you like this piece!... Unfortunately, I can't give you the tablature, because I don't have it on paper!... I have founded this arrangement, in standard tuning, listening the versions of the tune, played from El McMeen (in CGDGAD) and from Franco Morone (in DADGAD). I'm sorry... but on YouTube HOFEI plays just this tune with a very interessant arrangement and you can find the TAB on his website: maybe you can try with it!...

    luca

  • Nice. think i like it better than claptons.

    luca

  • Nice job! I enjoyed very much, thank you.

  • Hi Ralph,

thanks so much for your kind comment!...

    See you,

  • Hi,

many thanks!... you're too good with me!...

I'm afraid, I don't have irish ancestor in my family!...
