I had an old LP recording of one of Henery Cowell's Hymn and Fuging Tunes, probably from the late 1950's or early 1960's. I believe it was on the Unicorn label. The album was A UNICORN SAMPLER as I recall. There was also a recording of Charles Ives THE UNANSWERED QUESTION on the record. Anyone have any idea if there is a place to find old recordings like this? I lost the record some years ago, and really miss those two works.
Henry Cowell lived 1897-1965 and Symphony No.13 Madras was written 1956-1958. After a world tour in 1956-7, sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation and the US State Department, which included lengthy stays in Iran, India and Japan.
SOMEONE really liked Bolero by Ravel!
