@idrthrbsrfn207 No, the great war was the bloodiest. Dont forget the generals who were mainly in their late 50s and earlier 60 were in their prime in the late 19th century. War was totally different before WW1, so the tactics used were outdated, resulting in millions upon millions of needless deaths due to the forced sending of troops ointo no mans land to their certain deaths. Terrible war.
Jack (John Henry Foster) Babcock was a cousin of my grandpa. My G Grandpa's sister was married first to Jack's father. She died in 1897 and Jack's dad married Isabella (Bella) Foster. I visited the house where Jack lived at Holleford, north of Kingstson. It is across the road from our Redmond homes. Jack's grandfather, Henry Babcock was married to my GG Grandpa's sister Hannah (nee Medcof). Grandma was a Babcock . Grandpa's cousin was married to a Babcock close to Jack's family.
@Jarjarjar21 My name is Babcock (Carl) and I've been trying for almost 2 years to find out if I'm related to this man. My father and his brothers were born in Napanee and grew up in Kingston. I've tried to get the News Papers to help me to no avail. I also tried the TV show Ancestors in the Attic to help with no reply from them. Do you think you could help me?
All Babcock are related... it is a unique spelling of the Name Badcock.. all are descended from james Badcock who came from England to Portmouth in 1640's
Jack's dad was first married to my G Grandpa's sister...she died in 1897...all Jack's siblings were grandpa's cousins...so Jack's dad would be grandpa's uncle James...The Babcock home was across the road from the Redmond homes in Holleford...find me on facebook john redmond (ottawa) if you want to see pics...jr

bloodiest? Despite the horror of the Great War, it pails in comparison to the Second World War.
