i wouldnt advice anyone to open there ps3 if its still in warranty,leave it to the professionals & let them tamper with it,The YLOD is the worst thing that can happen,if your tryna fix it yourself your gonna need money £50+& good knowledge of the inside of your ps3 getting to the CPU,ive tried this myself & ectually fixed the problem on my 60g which still plays ps1 & ps2 games & still works,it maybe is any easy fix but the hassle is too much.

All I see is taking the cover off, removed the hard drive, remove the secondary cover, pan around the camera out of focus then button it up. OP, care to expound on what you're doing by posting it as comments?

1. shut off ps3 by flipping switch in back.

2. while off, hold finger onto disk drive button or sensor.

3. switch on ps3 while still holding down disk drive button.

than it will come on and blast fans max speed, at the same time the disk should eject.

@megadriver23 Does it make a sound when you press it? What you need to do is @ 3:39 you see those metal spring like things you need to bend them so that they touch the metal top of your PS3 (Inner Case) I'll post up a video if you don't understand....

hey help me please lol. ive taken apart my ps3 used a heat gun a hair dryer EVERYTHING. but idk the prob.. its deffinantly not the cpu or gpu.. i have a slim it cuts on the blinks red.

@xiiNFaMoUzZz are you sure? Have you looked at the GPU and CPU (Two Squares) and rubbed off the geothermalcompound (with ethanol) And then replaced it with geothermal compound then uses a heat gun for 20mins? That SHOULD help you, because it will reflow it :)

i got the blinking red light and all i did was take out the hard drive and left it out for a while and after i put it back in no more blinking red light and its never happened to me again

@3193spartan Yeah that's why there is a 10% chance of that happening the dust affecting the circuitry probably just went and it was not a CPU or GPU problem :)

If you keep doing so it will most likely turn into a YLOD so yeah leave it alone for 5-7 days try again and see if it is better if not contact me again and i'll give you step by step instructions or I will find something to help you, if you cant 'live' without your PS3 for that long find a hobby!
