fuck the a380 this was the best and the best ever supersonic aircraft that ever flew!! :) CONCORDE I SALUTE U FOREVVER U WILL BE MISSED!!!!!! XXXXXXXX
since when did anything get this reaction from something which is not living its un real and i want to cry seeing vids like this if lets say another aeroplane retired their would be nothing of it and Concorde gets all this! it isnt just an aeroplane its a aeroplane with a soul look it her shes dazzling.
Concorde - 5 Years on from Retirement ........................crap she was take from us and modern avation went back a step that day thumbs up if u think these woderfull aircraft shold be brought back
She was brilliant, lifetime highlight for me getting two flights. She was the best of the best and I got to share her with my future wife both times too.
I agree with the comments hope a concorde could flying for the London 2012 olympics and yes if i was asked to stump up cash so it could i would,it makes me proud to be british as has already been stated.
@MrThestig8 oh i wish, they cut most of the concordes wings off with sheet cutters just to fit them on barges and through museum doors, its gone forever
3/3.....interest and it made me feel a little sad for them. They were just looking at a lifeless exhibit and I thought...your never going to see it alive, hear that noise, feel that vibration or experience for yourselves what it was that blew apart the mind of that 6 year old boy all those years ago.
Sod the expense of it. Few thing have captured the imagination like this aircraft. A way should have been found to keep at least one flying.
2/3 .....The noise was deafening. I was yelling out but could not hear my voice. The air shook, the ground shook and the vibration went right through my body. Memories of that childhood moment and the excitement it gave me has stayed with me always. Last year i was at Duxford looking at Concorde. Not far from me there was a father with a couple of kids about the age i was back in 1978. They were looking with....
1/3 I remember in 1978 being a small boy (about 6) at a air show. We were standing as close to the runway as permitted. At that age Concorde was stuff every little boy dreamed of. We all wanted to grow up and be a Concorde pilot. Sitting on my dads shoulders i remember seeing her start the take off run, getting faster and closer to us with every second. Overwhelmed with excitement, pulse racing and fixated in magical wonder as she rotated right level with us. .....
On a more personal note I was lucky enough to fly on concorde in 2003, It will remain one of the most wonderful experiences I have had in my dying day, I regret that as an airline pilot I can no longer aim to fly her one day. Very sad for aviation as a whole to loose the worlds only sucessful supersonic airliner.
For those of you argueing about whether or not BA wanted to carry on with concorde I will set you right. But first I will tell you how I know, my parents (both ex BA) are good friends with Mike Banister (ex concorde head captain). BA did want to carry on, and indeed always managed to run concorde at a profit, AF on the other hand didn't, so they were reluctant to continue. Both parties needed to keep it going to continue with that contractual arrangment. AF didn't want to, so concorde Died :-(
it shaterd my heart when i heard she was out service :( and i rember when my perents took me on the concorde it was a ride of a life time and i am gonna miss her!!!!!!!
I was to young to witness Concorde. I have such a deep respect for the pilots who flew her, I hope that one day, she will once again be flying over the Atlantic. The Russian version has nothing on her.
The TU144 has "similarity's" to concorde. I don't think that two independent aircraft company's could just make nearly the same aircraft e.g russia & uk and france! It's a mystery!
I used to watch Concorde every afternoon in our back garden - about 5pm in South Croydon - really graceful and amazing on the approach to LHR - I miss this remarkable sight and sound - bring her back please - the skies are redundant and boring without her....
god i going in plane once ind it was beenkiller of time but it has to be a big fun going in this we all want fly in taht machine so why the hell concorde retired for services yust only of less flyes (sry for english)
The sad part of all of this isnt that Shes no longer flying, its what BA and AF did. Richard Branson said I will take them all and keep them flying even if I loose money on them, They will stay in the air. Both said no =( They rather them sit and rust then let them fly. I think that is the really sad part of the Concorde story, Yes the crash was bad and I feel sorry for everyone that lost someone but its a airplane, it happens. I wish they had let Virgin fly them...
Air France were relieved concorde was taken out of service, the Air France concorde was loosing money. But IF Branson suceeds with his spaceplane britain will be once again King of the skies.
The space aircraft being used by Branson is American, and he is merely the first customer - it will be sold to other companies if there are buyers.
Also, BA WANTED to carry on with Concorde, but it was Airbus who made it difficult for BA - telling them unless they pay the huge sum they wanted to maintain it - it was deliberately big to kill it. BA couldn't cope - Virgin would have no chance, none.
It annoys me how the media influences so many people to talk crap.
No. You are wrong there. The contract of mantinance was ended. BA and AF were finding concorde hard to fill up (not too many passengers) due to 9/11 scaring people from flying. Branson's spacecraft is going to be used for his spaceline "virgin galatic". I hate the media too. They get too much wrong!
No. I am right there. BA DID WANT TO CARRY ON, as Rod Eddington and high hopes of it picking up again. AF and Airbus were reluctant - THEN the contract was ended.
I did not need to mention the contract being cancelled, it was not part of the conversation and it quite obviously happened afterwards.
Planeboy737 - you seriously are being an idiot now.
which means more range you us less for fuel to move which will give you a greater range i've got plans and drawing what i plan on doing to the plane but to give you an idea it involes getting technog from an a380, a340 personaly if what i plan happens the Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde will have to be renamed BAE Systems concorde or concorde - 3 so give me your email adress and anyone else who want the data.

suppose ... even if they couldnt get the original flying again (would be amazing if they could) could they not create a replica that looks the same but is more fuel effient ? it would be good but not as good as the original flying... :-\ as 4 ure 12365paul if you could do that you would be a very famous man
send me your email address and are give you all the techncal data you require i am not saying build replacements or chaning her looks just a huge upgrade which allows her to have two flight crew and making her light with a few modifcations and increasing her range and speed so she is not limited to the new york route all the time
look it is not impossible i can do most of the work in design it will cost around about 40 million each for 7 concordes to be completely refited and working the thing is that ba is scared that it could make or break a concorde project G-BOAB is siting at heathrow if ba granted me access to it i could draw up plans for her to be upgraded and make her more fuel effient the project could be underway through 2010 and be ready by 2013 contracted by BAE Systems
although the british airways and air france have "disabled" everything and all the spare parts have been scrapped surely they must have the plans and documents of some sort? could they not just try re make everything? or just update the whole plane surely someone must be willing to invest money to get atleast 1 concorde flying again? they were willing to get her flying again in 2001 so why not now?
In 2000 and 2001, they were constantly maintained to almost flight ready status. Now they have been decommissioned, all but one have not seen any sort of maintenance programme and as for the one with one - it's limited.
I do not know what happened to the tooling. I don't think it was sold, may have been scrapped but if not that, it's stored somewhere at Airbus.
The only way she can fly again is in passenger service it will cost too much to fly her for just airshows so ba needs to bring there fleet back into service and once more the reason concorde ended service 5 years ago in 2003 was because of 9/11 no one was flying but thats all changed if they bring her back into service there will be a demaned for her
She will never fly again. No one will invest the money, British Airways holds title to all of theirs and disabled all of the systems. Not shut down, disabled! -- the only hope is F-BTSD but french politics (which subsiquently is part of why airbus won't release the data on her or back her to fly again) will prohibit SD from flying again. Sadly the markings in SD's cockpit, concorde is dead, not just resting; and it's a true shame! the best we get is one that the nose still droops. :(

You say NEARLY the same aircraft - They are VERY DIFFERENT.
The theory is that plans were stolen only for IDEAS and CONCEPTS which they compared to their own to find what was best.
Internal wokings are very different, general dimensions are very different.
You must also remember that FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION.

it is a shame that she is not flying anymore
still 40 years and 27 years flying and never been conquerd what else to say !!
A 330 is still flying after the AF 447 Crash "Rio-Paris".
i saw the concorde flying over LHR and take off a few times, amazing and graceful.
maybe one day she will fly the skies again ...

Seems a shame the Concord should pay this high price from a part falling off another aircraft, doesn't seem to very fair to mankind or aviation.
