Revenge for Skibbereen! How many crimes did the English Crown, helped by Irish or Anglo-Irish landlords? Impossible to count them all. Brits go home, it's 800 years late, but go home now!
It was no true famine- an economic famine, a man-made famine. How many ships full of cattle and crops left Dublin during those years? It was a famine made by landlordism, imperialism, and capitalism. Ireland will never be free, until all three are laid into their graves.
@CrawdaddyJoe oh there is no doubt that it was a real famine, but it was the british who choose to do nothing, they have a sick belief that this was a clensing of ireland for all of our "sins"
@despuis i agree.2 million enslaved in the 1600's-early 1700's, the 16th century famine they stood back and watched, the 18 century famine they watched that too, as it starved to death over 1.8 million people, with another two million leaving for parts of the world they never knew existed, with the promise they would have peace and land. 2cases that stand out, 2 boys in limerick city, they stole apples from a cart. they were 10, and 8 years old, beaten to a pulp, sent to OZ, for 12 years jail
I love Skibbereen!
