By the way, is this the oldest known troubador? Or are there older musicians who composed during the 11th century, before the 1st crusade.
William of Aquitaine only started composing after his return from crusade. The immense experience led him to unleash his talent. How intriguing!

where does the melody come from? I LOVE this piece - I have the Martin Best recording - but as far as I know, only the words are extant.
