There are actually two regular German words that I can think of, that have 3 prefixes: ----------------------- 1. miteinbeziehen. ziehen = to pull / draw be-ziehen = to obtain ein-be-ziehen = to include mit-ein-be-ziehen = to incorporate ----------------------- 2.wiederauferstehen: stehen = to stand er-stehen = to buy / purchase (totally breaking ranks) auf-er-stehen = to revive wiederauferstehen = to resurrect -------- There might be some more...
Ich finds interessant wie sowas einen zum Nachdenken über die eigene sprache bringen kann :D
And btw there is überstrapazieren (like overstrain or so)... but where is unterstrapazieren? :D To not want enough from anotherone or so :D ^^ to not force him enough :D
what's your english speakers' obsession with the prefix "über". we don't even really use it as much as you do. but yeah... love your show and your begeisterung for the german language!
Also: what about überbleiben. Like when you have a dinner party, and some guests just won't go home, even when you are standing up and yawning and talking about how early you have to get up the next day. Überbleibers!
great video response. I really enjoyed your approach. Hmmm grübel grübel. Ich überlege ein Wort aber irgendwie fällt mir nichts lustiges ein. Überabwaschen (Putzfimmel style) like you clean and wash every second. Unterschnarchen (eine combo aus unterstreichen und schnarchen). Er betonte es mit einer Unterschnarchung. MitÜberaufabunterkrabbeln jemand der mit krabbelt in allen lebenslagen, auf ab über unter usw
Re: LEGO BUILDING BLOCKS, I don't know if you realized it but the day you posted this video was the 50th Birthday (Anniversary) of Lego Blocks!! Weren't they invented somewhere over there (Europe)?? Enjoyed your video, nice followup to Mr. Winter! (c:
So sorry my comment is duplicated. YouTube was up to its old tricks of being very strange with comments last night!! Btw, did find out that Legos were invented in Denmark! If you visited Google that day the GOOGLE logo was built of LEGOS!! (c:

How about: mitübergeben. When someone pukes, you have to do it too, like when someone's yawning.

One phrase we once used in our family:
"Don´t underschicht me!" well...a meaning we havent found yet, but maybe someone else knows :D
Trebor75317 3 years ago
It either means layer or shift (as in nightshift), class also comes to mind. So, maybe, don't underclass me?

Thanks! I don't know what an Englisch-Fimmel is, but I appreciate the compliment :) Your English sounds great!
missverstaendnis101 3 years ago
fimmel is something like a tick or a "über-over-facination"...

I just though of another word: abstehen, i.e. meaning going to bed (instead of aufstehen). What do you think?
Andy10815 4 years ago
Toll! Ich nehme es! Haha.

Thats actually a word... If you take things away the leftovers are "übergeblieben"
felsspat 3 years ago
Well "abstehen" has a meaning, but it means "stand away" or "stick out".

Witzig! Überabwaschen gefällt mir sehr gut. I have had my share of Putzfimmeler housemates! Yay for the Über!

I did not know that! And I'm sad I missed it. I love when they re-work the Google logo. (Does that make me sad?)

Can you teach me some swearing?
I want to cuss like a German sailor.
55hoser 4 years ago
I'm sorry, but we are a family show.
Do you know who's good at German swearing, though? The Evil Juergen. He'll learn you some good cussing.
missverstaendnis101 4 years ago
Well, I think zuabnehmen could be a word used to describe the yoyo-effect experienced when trying to lose weight.
Here's one that doesn't "officially" exist: ausspringen. Discuss.
And OMG, what a funky video. How have I not seen any of yours previously? I'll go have a look at the other stuff on your channel now.
AericWinter 4 years ago 2
Dear German Language Creators,
why isn't ausspringen a word? It so deserves to be. If aufspringen gets to go in the dictionary, auspringen should also.
E.g. every morning I spring aus of bed to come to work, where I want to spring aus of the window.
That's some echt Deutschlisch for you!

what about zwischenzunehmen? it's like gaining a few pounds during Christmas...
Andy10815 4 years ago 2
Haha "yeah, I had a little zwischenzunehmen over the holidays, but I fit into my pants again now..."
missverstaendnis101 4 years ago
zwischen is actually a pre-prefix. too funny...

What about mitaufhören - I am giving up smoking and my wife is too, to make it easier. With-give-up!

It is amazing what can be done in the German language. Das das das darf! That is a sentence that has always fascinated me verbally.

Der Evil Juergen hyper-über-verschlechtert das Klima hier auf YouTube mit seiner Über-Sexualität und Über-Evil-heit-ness.
Und that's why he starts mit-auf-zumischen verschiedene words and languages.
