  • Does anyone know what is the song of the trailer? thanks

  • This movie is about emotionally opening up to another person. She was so willing and he was so reluctant. In they both opened up. Then she sacrefaced her self for him but he was too selfish to do the same. It broke my heart. :'(

The sex made sense in the context of the movie. I can't imagine the movie making sense without the sex.

  • So, I did in fact watch the movie, but I forgot..does she die in the end? on the cliff? is she shot? I feel like she was..idk..i always thought he was going to come and save her.

  • @boninva yes it was implied by the tolling of the bells and the shot of Mr. Yee's expression that they were all executed.

  • The movie so boring I dunno wad to say

  • @JXJ1326 If you haven't seen it and you still wanna watch it, it will be better if I don't spoil it for you :)

  • I fell in love with this movie :)

  • Joan Chen...Josie Packard! Just realized that!

  • THIS IS THE BEST CHINEASE EVER GREETINGS FROM QUITO-ECUADOR

  • i am obsessed by this film. i watched it years ago and yet scenes are still playing in my mind. especially when she whispers, "walk quickly," realizing that the enemy was the only one who hadn't used her. though she had used him. and her friends had all used her.

  • the movie was sad, i just don't understand why they didn't nail him when they had the perfect opportunity for it....but at the same time you can tell that he developed feelings for her....

  • I just found the soundtrack after looking up music by Alexandre Desplat since I love him to death, and after seeing this trailer I cannot wait to get my hands on this movie! It looks like an amazing piece of work!

  • When I finally saw this I just about lost my mind. Most beautiful film. EVER.

  • the son of Mao has had the actress cut out of a new movie

Tang Wei has been dropped from The Founding of a Party after Mao's grandson Mao Xinyu objected

why did he object? for political reasons ? or did he try to get her and she said no?

he is a tyrant like Mao

  • @redshirtish are u having paranoea sth? lol

  • Comment removed

  • @virnowi if I could sit in your hometown eating laoyuo noodles and Nanning lemon duck we could talk about China and the films there.....I live both in Chiang Mai and the UK and love Chinese film.....but I could also show you in the news and on the internet how Tang Wei has been cut out of a new film on the Founding of a Party

because she played a character in Lust and Vice that offends....news of this will not be shown in China...and also she will receive no more publicity in China

  • its a masterpiece.

  • I find those *** scenes really disgusting. aside from that the movie is quite good. Why the heck that Ang Lee made those things so explicit????????????

  • youporn sent me here

  • The sex scene are explicit, but that coinsides with both political and sexual liberation themes of the film. Most films like this would have been censored, but it shows that as an audience we able to look beyond that and see what the significance of the sex scenes are. When I first saw it, I was a little shocked by the 'rape' scene, but maybe because you rarely see this on film, its all a matter of how we interperate the film and our exposure to it. It is a true masterpiece.

  • hêh_Äný_gÙYs_wÄñt_tó_chat_wÌth_mÊ

  • what is the name of the song that is playing during the trailer?

  • this movie best defines sense and sensibility.

  • people talk about the sex scenes because they were particularly explicit, by any standard. there are sex scenes and then there is porn.

    BUT HAIRY ARMPITS WHY WHY

  • ~SPOILER ALERT~

    The Chick has hairy armpits.

Just kidding well not really she really does but it might be a cultural thing.

  • i love tang wei. so brave to do this movie and to still stand up for the art/work after the ridicule she endured. that is why she is so successful. she's even learned English, Cantonese, and Korean. I so admire her!

  • Great movie.

  • i dont understand why ppl are paying so much attention on the sex scenes. i dont even find the film erotic. it is beautiful. it is a tragedy of humanity.

  • @WENDY391 Hot sex scenes

  • @folladordeprostis as well as revealing the ugliness of ur humanity . such a masterpiece.

  • @WENDY391 well just watched the sex scenes not the movie yet! lol! and if u pay attention u can see real intercourse happening in those scenes so pay some 'attention'! lol!

  • @WENDY391 from what we studied in film class, the sex scenes were important because of the transitions it made. It turned from rapacious to actual emotional connection, which reflected the development of their feelings for each other.

  • @WENDY391 I remember reading how one film wasn't allowed to be played in the theatre because "it was too erotic". Was this the movie? Either way, it's on my must watch list.

  • EPIC MOVIE WITH HOT SEX SCENES

  • dd

  • .. at 0:32 ... WOW.

  • The song is for everyone asking Don Carlo - Ella giammai m'amo

  • i need to learn not to read comments on films cuz fools tend to give it all away.. sigh this movie looks really good too..

  • damn, what is the song?

  • damn, what is the song?

  • the fact that this video is based on a real event in ww2, makes this video even better!

the only thing i didn´t like, was, that she didn´t get away with her actions, because of the ignorance of this brutal man!

she gave her life to save his life, and paid a high price! she had a good heart! thats just not fair!

  • @sozialeisolation it was kind of necessary.....she was a spy and he was the chief interrogator. that's his job. she just didn't know what she was getting into.

  • @ImNotThere100, but he survived because of her! i still not like this kind of endings!

  • @sozialeisolation It wasn't a real event, a Chinese Lady came out saying that, "her sister's espionage mission was similar, but unsuccessful.", but good movie

  • @KASHIV12, it was mentioned in the beginning of the movie here in germany.

  • @sozialeisolation He really had no choice but to execute her, otherwise his position would be compromised.

  • 2007 was a pretty good year for chinese cinema, we had Lust Caution, Assembly and The Warlords. but the subject matters were a bit worrying:

Lust Caution: You can't trust your women.

The Warlords: You can't trust your brothers.

Assembly: You can't trust your superiors.

  • i just wanna watch it cuz it has leehom wang hehe is is soooooooooo fkin sexy!!!

  • I HEARD THERE ARE HOT SEX SCENES IN THIS MOVIE

  • @folladordeprostis can't you tell by the trailer

  • Drool............ so intense sex scene. I wonder why the girl is attracted to him and dies to save him in the end. He must be really good in bed...

  • SEXIEST. MOVIE. EVER. MADE

  • my dad looks like that guy

  • @piranaut lol then ur dad is a DILF

  • I cried T____T

    it's her fate to lose....

  • Whats the song in this trailer?

  • I must applaud Tang Wei for her acting. I cannot believe it is her first movie. She is brilliant. Her acting doesn't lose to Tony Leung's. She is amazing!

  • why ang lee is always so excellent at creating love scene?

In this film, despite graphic and explicit, it was very tender and sad...it has ability to steal our heart

  • i would not know this good movie if i haven't watch They Kiss Again (episode 8) where they featured this movie..

god! i must watch it.. it seems like it's intensely good.. :)

  • Makes me shiver.

  • *falls off chair* i gotta see this....

  • I actually found it pretty boring . Most scenes are quite and little spoken I fell asleep lol

  • I love this film, the scenes are intense, the settings glamorous, the story is believable... it's like they've got their own little battle going on while the real battles are elsewhere. Brilliant film :) *****

  • This movie was intense even the sex scenes, good movie though i didnt want her to die it was sad.

  • I bought this movie a while back but I've only seen it today and I loved it the story was captivating. the scenes were beautifuly portrayed and shot. this film deseverse a selute from anyone who loves these kind of films. the sex scenes were intense espeicialy the third sex scene. Awsome spectacular a memorible erotic drama

  • Song, I like. <3

  • Why Was There No Talking in This Movie and Others Please Reply To This Comment To Tell Me Why

  • @isabarriga Because this is a trailer.

  • to me this is kinda one of those inspiring movies, cause she gave up her self to serve her country.

  • I hated & loved this movie at the same time. It's one of those that leaves you feeling so empty. Very good movie indeed. I just don't know how to describe it.

  • Also, the fact that Tony Leung studied old hollywood actors to better perform his role? Fuckin awesome. The way he glides around the screen with this focused look on his face is really hypnotizing.

  • @PoisonPuFFiPie Tony Leung doesn't speak much in his movies in general. He doesn't need to, he's got an onscreen presence like a magnet.

  • I didn't cry when I saw Lust, Caution, but it left a really deep heart wrenching feeling. I think what really did it were all the camera holds of the closeups of their expressions.. I know the sex scenes were really explicit, but they were necessary. It made the overall feeling of the movie REALLY intense. It's not like the sex scenes in action movies, or in pornography; you could see all the emotions and pain in their eyes. I must say, the actors were REALLY damn good in this film.

  • @PoisonPuFFiPie you put in words ...exactly how i felt...didnt cry ...but felt very sad..

  • What is the music in this trailer? this is not in the movie soundtrack. Anybody?

  • @wildcharm911 24/25 Prelude Act IV (Don Carlo)

  • people are mostly dead in the film.

There was love but it wasn't true - a short fancy.

There isn't a clear good and bad side in the movie.

  • beautiful movie. cant wait to watch it. Does anyone know the name of the soundtrack in this trailer?

  • This movie made me cried :(, it was so powefull and so perfect :)

  • actos gave very powerful performances. there's was so much depth. emotions could be read by just their eyes. excellent film by ang lee!

  • thought it was quite good. saw it recently.

  • @octoberfrost is this movie as good as what you wrote? you make me want to see it. did you see it on DVD or where?

  • this disgusting movie will only fool those ignorant foreign audience

  • @TheFuckengland

    Grow up.

  • If you liked the movie, then I strongly recommend the novella by Eileen Chang. They are both wonderful.

  • yo shes not even that hot..

  • @AmericaRuinsYou

For the immature: the film is not about sex. It is about the evolution of a relationship. The difference is that it shows the evolution of the physical side of the relationship one doesn't usually see.

  • @JNagarya

i never said it was about sex

  • Tony leung lucky Bas***d!

  • really want to know what this music is! is it on the soundtrack?

  • @ouihotpot yes it is search for lust, caution on spotify :D

  • @ouihotpot it might be on the soundtrack, i don't know, but it's actually a stylized version of Philipp II's aria, "Ella giammai m'amo," from Giuseppe Verdi's opera, Don Carlo. Look it up (Samuel Ramey sings it beautifully), you won't be sorry!!!

  • @brigid88 Thanks I wasn't sorry - you were right!

  • this piece reminds me of schindler's list, love the cello solo

  • I saw this movie two years ago and even after dozens of movies on Netflix, this one is one of the 10 top ones by far. Incredibly moving, the sex scenes just underline the anguish of a love which is not supposed to be but is. In the end to see a feriocious man like him break down for love, but still incapable of living the consequences of it - which in the end is his curse. If he thought he wad dead before, imagine now, knowing her dead body is falling off the cliff as the clock strikes 10 pm.

  • sweet spoiler.

  • It was a powerful movie. But it left me with some questions. What I understood is that Mr.Yee did end up loving Wong, but it wasnt mutual, until she saw all the love in the man's eyes. I know that the sex scenes were supposed to reflect emotions, but on the woman's part it was confusing. At the end, she just couldnt bring herself to betray that love since she must have realized nobody else around loved her that way. She was being used.

  • @argenteuilrocks

She was being used all the way, every time.

  • @soccom8341576 True! Imean, Tony Leung even got several "best actor" award for the movie. What did she get, except for one award, a slut reputation and a ban from China? She gave herself totally to that first movie. All she became famous for is being screwed by Tony. In a way, it's kind of sad.....

  • @argenteuilrocks

She needs to establish herself now.

  • @MariannaNYC09 Thank you very much for telling everyone about the ending.....NOT

  • @alexdotter

What's the problem? This is not a site for those who are planning to see the movie, it's a site for eveybody to post the comments they wish, most readers either already saw it or are not necessarily planning to watch it anyway. You may be part of a small minority (the only one...) who have not seen the movie, plan to see it and just happened to read my post....tough luck, sorry!

  • I love this movie. I saw this movie at the Venice film festival in Italy and then saw it back in the states and they cut alot of the sex out of it the US version. It was stil very good.

  • I get too emotional at movies, but I remember sobbing in my car after watching this. It really broke the dams. Tony Leung, in a darker role than typical for him, was perfect. Tang Wei was a fantastic blend of innocence and scary maturity. A very good film.

  • I loved this movie, and i agree this movies sex scenes were not erotic at all, they were put in too convey the character devlopment, eg the first scene, Mr yee was absolutely brutal and controlling, but in the last one he completely let his guard down (even letting her be on top), that just makes the ending even more torturously sad, because he did love her T__T

  • Man the ending was just too much for me. the bad guys are has won. lol.

  • I loved this movie. Hype is totally misplaced on sex scenes. They're not even erotic, they're just sad and brutal... Best Ang Lee's movie.

  • @maiden573 Ang Lee is simply amazing director. He definitely one of the staunchiest ingmar bergman's follower..

  • Does anyone know where to download the instrumental version of Ella giammai m'amo?

  • despite the soso reviews, i really liked this movie

  • what is the name/composer of this song?! It's so beautiful and I've been trying to find it forever.

  • an instrumental version of king philip's aria from verdi's don carlos.

  • Don Carlo - Ella giammai m'amo

  • tang wei = awesome acting!!

Its one of ang lee's best movies..i personally think this is better than crouching tiger.

  • I agree, the other being Brokeback Mountain.

Crouching Tiger was a bit gimmicky just because Hollywood hasn't seen a lot of Chinese martial arts films.

  • This movie was so real, emotional and riveting. It's one of those movies that, after you've finished watching it, wish you'd never seen it, just so you could watch it all over again.

It's just unfortunate that some people get so caught up in the sex scenes that they don't realize the symbolism depicted through them. and how they represent the major changes the characters undergo.

This is not a story about Lust or Caution, but rather a heart wrenching tale about Love and Trust.

  • @0ctoberfrost

Totally agree, but as for the title, obviously it catches the eye, but some Chinese people think there is another meaning. When you see "Lust, Caution," you're reading it left-to-right. In ancient Chinese, some things were read right-to-left, so the title could be: "Caution, Lust!" Get it?

That's a common idea in Chinese culture, but it's changing even now. I think it's also a message the movie sends (if not also a message from Ang Lee), but it's a minor one in comparison.

  • @0ctoberfrost seriously, I think I love you... you completely understand the movie!! it's so subtle and raw at the same time, truly an Ang Lee masterpiece!!!

  • it is in mandarin.

  • LOL. The main girl is a Chinese by the name of Tang Wei. -__-

  • a true piece of work!

  • u asian?

  • nope

  • this was a very sad movie.

  • Comment removed

  • @kodachromeable fck u cantonese rat, its mandarin

  • 于是不愿走的你 要告别已不见的我

    至今世间仍有隐约的耳语 跟随我俩的传说......

  • Does anyone know the name of this piece of music or is it original to the movie? Thanks1

  • Ella giammai m'amo from Don Carlo by Verdi.

  • It was by ang lee dumbass

  • is it in Cantonese or Mandarin?

i half expect it to be incantonese, due to being Taiwanese made, but surely making it in mandarin gives it a large audience who can speak the language?

  • I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's because this film was Taiwanese based, and Focus Features only distributed it in North America.

  • Yes it is.

  • its amazing how old tang wei is, but in the scenes where she was meant to look younger, i really believed she looked 15, or maybe thats just me ..

  • incredible movie!

  • i loved this movie sooo much

  • Does anyone know where i can get the song from this trailer? I know it's called Don Carlo - Ella giammai m'amo" , but I only want the piano piece. Thanks!

  • Really underrated movie

  • this movie was amazinnng.

i didnt think it would b that great since it was in chinese and ya know..u have to read the screen but it was really great )))

  • omg, anyone else think that the main character (the female one) is like the asian version of anne bolyen in the tutors on hbo?

  • you gotta be kidding me..

  • i agree....

    & this made me laugh

  • one of the best movie ever made in Chinese.

I am a fan of Eileen Chang. Her novels are among the finest in recent Chinese history. I love the novel version 'lust, caution'. This movie is as perfect as the novel. Just forget the sex part, focus more the story line...

  • The first time I saw this movie, it was the censored version. The story seemed disjointed. The character's emotion didn't make any sense, especially the ending, when Wei Tang's character warned the Tony Leung's character. I could understand the character much more when I watched the uncensored version. This is not a hollywood flick dotted with needless sex scenes. The sex scenes are absolutely essential to understand the love, hatred, and conflict between the two main characters.

  • the song is "Don Carlo - Ella giammai m'amo", it's not by alexandre desplat
