  • I am going to guess that most of where you were filming now resides at the bottom of the cliff as a result of Friday's earthquakes?

  • that council has a lot to anwser for, who builds at the base of a cliff right by the ocean, jesus people

  • oh well sooner or later the authorities will track this idiot down and arrest him.

  • Excellent footage, thanks.

I used to climb down to peg point just below there as a kid.

  • The bloke with the camera has got rocks in his head, anyone in there right mind would have stayed the hell away from that area, the next quake or downpour of rain will send that area down, bloody crazy for going there, if something was to happen then others would have to risk there necks to help his sorry arse...

  • @tewtew1 get yourself a sense of adventure Nana.

  • man i used to walk ther!

  • So sad, one of my favourite running trails and torture routes for my personal training clients :o(

    RIP Whitewash heads

  • Owner of house = Spewing.

    Bloke with camera = Dumb.

  • I lived with my parents on Whiewash Head Rd 30 years ago and spent many happy hours wandering Flowers track and on the Head. It is tragic to see this beautiful place reduced to rubble.

  • I feel so sorry for you. I was involved in the same earthquakes as you but we didn't get half the damage you got. I send my hope and my support to you and your family.

  • U got nads ill say that

  • Holy Moly @ 2:47, you are taking one heck of a risk standing out there even for a second!!

  • You NOT smart. Wear a condom. Always.

  • you either brave or stupid dude.......

  • If this were a cartoon the cliff would break off right now...

  • Sweet mary.

  • Oh my god

  • The guy who took this video is one ballsy ass cunt.

  • Was any one else thinking "what if there is another aftershock?" as he stood at the edges of all the cliffs?!

  • @Kidrocker000 Yeeeees. I was a kid and the house burnt down. I lived in fear that the new house would burn down too and banned dad from lighting up the element to light his ciggies. He quit the cigs. I loved living in CHCH but I am so glad I am not living there now. I hope all people relocate. I would have everyone in CHCH live with me for free if I had the house.

  • @nuclearrace That would be a bitchin' house. But remember, most of NZ is on or near a source of natural "disasters" so I dont think leaving really makes a difference.

  • How did you manage to work a camera and hold your massive balls at the same time? crazy video!

  • hopefully that slip will become a nice beach in another 5 years

  • Hmmm. North Island, South Island, Stewart Island and Christchurch Island.

  • @nuclearrace WTF

  • Summner??

  • @nigahigarules12345 Its the head in sumner

  • @Threlaeburgh oh i thought it waz

  • i no i have been to whitewash but i dont want to go there now

  • 1:41 is insane

  • Comment removed

  • omfg 0:30 man really i wouldnt even go near there its so fucking dangerous, you could easily die if an aftershock happened

  • I used to live on Scarborough, walked up Whitewash and along the back track a thousand times. I wonder how Flowers Track is now. I'm so sad to see it all so destroyed. Thank god no one was hurt.

  • @bbellab Flowers track is fine I walk up there every day still

  • wow, poor path, the music seems really fitting, like a pacific island tune gone depressive

  • Sorry about your house man,.....sucks,...

  • omg how is flowers track is it still walkble>?

  • No. 40 Whitewash Head Rd. used to belong to me! Can't believe the new owners have all this 'grief' to deal with. I used to walk my dog up this track every day. Very sad!

  • @mrsjdelacour I loved walking that track in my teens, no dog tho!

  • @mrsjdelacour Absolutely tragic. We used to be at No. 8 back in the late 70's, early '80's

  • Wow, I remember that place.. many beers have been drunk and joints smoked up on the lookout. Sad, very sad. But heck, you're brave.. and very lucky. One good aftershock could've dropped you into the sea. Our poor little city is all but destroyed and still this won't end.

  • true dat bro

  • Far Out Ive delivered concrete up here for that house several times and have had to back up that whole road, it was dodgy before the quake but thats crazy!!!! million dollar view ae no thanks!!!, we had a 10 tonne limit on that road so could only take our small trucks up there

  • scary kia kaha to the people of christchurch

  • too dangerous risking your life for youtube?

  • These vids allow us ex christchurch people to see the enormity of what's going on, thanks - got the pucker effect on the last bit of the film.

  • where is this

  • @Zillamp3z Sumner

  • Though you put your life in you hands, as a Sumner person I totally get why you went up there. This walk has been a huge part of my life, all my life. It was a such a special place. To see it like that is just unbelievable. I can't actually get that it isn't there anymore. God, what is going to happen? Houses are so close to where you were.

  • 2:16 beer bottle? nice place to get drunk

  • Thats the most dodgiest land I have ever seen.

  • the added benefits of open plan living

  • You just grew a third ball at 2:42

  • Haha I like the "oh f*** I shouldn't be here" then the camera lifts up and the path just disappears off the cliff

  • Yeah, yeah....nah. whoa! ...real live on the edge footage.. respect!! crazy cam!

  • hey a least no one can build in front of your sea view now

  • Good footage but not such a good idea..

    cheers

  • scary

  • Is this Scarborough hill? I went down to chch about 2 months ago. I don't remember it being this bad...

  • Man,you got big nuts buddie shooting that! da man! hahaha I used to run up that track with ma bro's many a time back in the days..can't believe it's just 'chopped off' in parts...daaam

  • less property thats not good lol

  • I was actually leaning back trying to will you to not go there.. How absolutely dangerous.. A sad landscape.. now its easy to see how NZ fell off Australia millions of years ago... The land just breaks.

  • Like an Escher drawing in which all the stairs go nowhere and everywhere at once.

  • @adenshillito Lol yes brilliant total Escher like! Crazy stairs to nowhere, at least to nowhere you want to be going!

  • lol you are nuts! apart from that, very very sad footage of our beautiful landscape

  • You're MAD!

  • you are M.A.D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to walk my dog there every day... wow..... unreal!!!!!!!

  • I live here and was jumping the barrier to walk that part after Feb quake. It was scary enough then and a real risk as huge cracks were running across the clifftop. This is an EPIC video. You were genuinely in an enormous amount of danger doing that, I cant believe what I was watching!! Please please do not go near that cliff edge again. The rest of it will fall soon and your life is precious so dont risk it dude:)

  • @taylors24 Wonder if it fell with tonights shake.

  • @taylors24 you know that really munted bridge in avonside... i walked over that xD

  • You have to be crazy to go any where near that! what if there was another shake??? CRAZY!

  • this made me laugh, sorry but wtf are you even going near there? im glad you're OK though!!! (it was a wtf laugh, not a hahah suffer laugh, im in CHCH)

  • This only goes to prove how moronic the 'powers-that-be' are. They won't let business people, who have the lively-hood of themselves and their employees to think about, get into the CBD to retrieve crucial equipment and info. But they allow any one with a mind to, to roam around this area. BAH!!!!!

Gerry-bloody-Brownlee is a failed school teacher who should be tarred and feathered.

  • @Liquidsolidity I'm really smart!!!

  • no way would I stand where you're standing shooting that video!

  • Wow! To think of the number of time I've driving/ridden/walked on that road! Thanks for sharing.

  • wow, thanks for sharing, i'm in avonside but your vid underscores how really bad some other parts of chch are.

  • wow.

  • Great clip btw - had me on the edge of my seat!

  • Whats the music in the clip ?

  • @wishes1973 .... its me

  • @aaahhgghh nice! :)

  • @aaahhgghh nice job with the music

  • @aaahhgghh dude i think i remember going there once honest.. was it around sumner? place like that

  • Holy Shit!!! can you tell me how much has been shaved off the cliffs of the area please? and @ Liquidsolidity, I agree with mass creation, stfu u stupid c***, we need to see this, and it guts like this dude, to have shown the rest of us.

    Thank you aaahhgghh

  • @Liquidsolidity with out this idiot you wuldnt have a comment to post so just shut the fuck up

  • OH WOW - that's terrible, I LOVE that spot! :o( what a dreadful shame...

  • Hey, we would like to have a chat, can you contact reporters@press.co.nz cheers mate.

  • Crickey you guys are nuts, one big aftershock and you would have gone down too!!

I have friends who home is up there and perching precariously on the edge, so so sad

  • Yes thanks for the footage but dear god please stay away from there. So pleased you made it home safe and sound to post this. My goodness.

  • Amazing. I appreciate the footage - but I have to say, I yelled at you throughout this video. Glad you weren't more reckless, though not sure how that could even be possible.

  • Thanks for the footage but please don't risk it again. I was surprised they had not roped off by the building site (with no access now), but didn't dare go further. There is more to fall yet as is shown by your shots. It was horrifying to see a favourite walkway gone like that. I will really miss watching the birds playing on the thermal air currents. Take care.
