What Tyler Perry does is inspirational! Yes, it's comedic a lot of the time, but he has also created some amazing dramas. Also, many of his movies are kid friendly as weel. I can't think of one Spike Lee movie, that I would show to a child under 17. That's sad.

I missed why he is hating on him. I disagree with Tyler Perry because he dresses like a woman in all of his movies. What Tyler Perry does is inspirational! Yes, it's comedic a lot of the time, but he has also created some amazing dramas. Also, many of his movies are kid friendly as weel. I can't think of one Spike Lee movie, that I would show to a child under 17. That's sad.

I agree with Spike Lee. Before Tyler Perry there was Spike Lee who paved the way for him as a producer. Spike Lee makes me proud for trying to put out good pictures that portray African-Americans. I do not like alot of Tyler Perry movies and refuse to go see them. I am a former soldier and I was so proud of the movie he put out because Blacks have rightfully served in every war that has taken place. More rich blacks should support Lees' movies when Hollywood will not.

I watched Tyler Perry's new show on TBS "For better or for worse" and I was utterly disgusted with actor Tasha Smith as she commence to curse and burn and rant in the parking lot of her husbands studio. I thought to myself, man. I've seen this time and time again. I like the show and think it will do well but sometimes when I look at some of the scenes that made it into the final show I'm like this is embarrassing! Her character did what white folks would call chimping out! "Angry Black women"

@ALLPURX700 While there are people whose characters parallel that of Madea's, that character has been portrayed abundantly through the years (see Shanana from Martin, Jamie Foxx's character on Living Color, Tommy Davidson, and others). What Tyler is doing isn't new. We've acknowledged that character exists and is present in these communities, however there are other characters that exist as well. As you noted, Spike is entitled to his opinion and in no way is his criticism trampling progress.
