    Ford however has extensive history with less cubes and superchargers.

    Again however the Camaros problems were not the power, but the weight. Hope it diets this next year.

  • @jonhattan06 Well I am sorry you are assuming what "it looks like" but the fact is true. Ford openly admitted to using a supercharger to compensate for cubic inches and lack of power or competition to the LS engines. You cannot compare a Mustang to a Corvette much less the ZR1 because for one the C6 Z06 can take out Fords best and well the ZR1 is for the big boys and doesn't carry a "small liter" engine. It carrys a big liter engine WITH a supercharger. So your comparison is moot-respectfully.

  • @whtbullitt yeah my 96 trans am that i HAD 6 years ago would lose to a stock 93 GT? lol. my buddy has a modded 5.0L either a 95 or a 93(whichever was last year of 5L) and he has 4.10 gears, tuner, exhaust, CAI, and some others and he THINKS he could barely get my trans am. and his half brother has an 88 GT with about 260hp at the wheels and he couldnt keep up. GTs couldnt keep up til 2005

  • @jeremyd86 i am talking stock for stock., the guy i was responding to at first, said his was a stock 5.0 and that he got 5.5 0-60. even IF you could get it to go 5.5 seconds, the only way that would happen is if you were REALLY good at shifting. and 99.999% of the people on youtube just say they can do it but can never back it up. my 96 trans am(non WS6) with an auto was rated 5.6 to 60. i clocked it with a stopwatch at 5.85 seconds with 65k on the clock

  • @lilberton15s that is definitely on the high side... if you kept the boost low like 5-7 psi it would probably be ok but idk if I would risk it... you need 9.5 or less to start running 10psi of boost or more.

  • @wyldfantasyx Thats a crock of shit. highr compression ratios only leave a lower window of error when tuning. as long as the tune is solid, higher compression is actually prefered, as you can run less boost and more power with zero issues. the minset in the 90's about tuning and boost is a thing of the past. you gotta keep up with the times.

  • @Whocares05050 I agree. I have a supercharged high compression ford modular. 10.5 to 1 and right now only running 5psi and making tons of HP. It acts like a N/A at low rpm and can run tons of timing. When It gets into boost the timing is retarded and acts like a boosted engine. Best of both worlds and it gets 30mpg!

  • @lilberton15s don't know if this comment is too late. You must upgrade your bottom end or else you will throw rods or pistons. Not right away, but down the road or going to a show long distance you could break down and be left stranded. Plus with the bottom end upgraded, you WILL notice a significantly more horsepower gain along with a 8-14psi boost. Good luck with that.

  • Nice however not to question your car. but how in the world does it accelerate faster then a Vette? those 5.0 Mustangs only make about 205 H.P. stock a Vette 350 H.P. I know ppl that have both and the Vette whould blow the 5.0 of the road.

  • Stock they were rated at 225hp. I think the 93's were rated lower because of different rating system even though it's pretty much identical to the earlier model.

    No actually the 87-93 mustangs did only make 225 brake horsepower. Dyno a bone stock mustang and you'll get 170-180hp for 5 speeds and 150-160hp for autos. Once you put mufflers and remove the cats, you'll make another 20hp.

    The average manual bolt on mustang 5.0 makes around 220whp.

  • @fidstang actually 5.0 mustangs make 225hp bone stock 5speed. i have a 91 it made 220 to the rear and with exhaust and cold air intake went up to 238hp.

    My father worked at Ford for 44years so I have personally been there when they dyno tune the cars at the factory and off site facilities. A 1991 Mustang only makes 180-190 horsepower at the wheels BONE stock. Not all dyno's are accurate and most will have a slightly inflated number. Also, temp, baro press., altitude and calibration have an effect on numbers.

  • high gears and more power, buddies got a z28 big cam running 10.8 to 11 consistantly with 3:42 rearend and only pushing 424, look up Z28 vs twin turbo mustang gt... gt ofcourse pulls at the end because of more horse but buy the time he does they have already gone about half a mile... call him grey lightining hahaha

  • @abram7117 It is quite easy and cheap to get 350hp out of a Mustang with a good set of heads, cam, intake etc. A carbed version like the one in the video can get to 400hp without too much problem. My friends and I would run low 11's in the early 1990's with heads, cam, exhaust and 9psi (plus the supporting equipment). The good old Fox body Mustang has more up its sleeves than just dirty elbows!

  • @abram7117 Trick Flow heads FTW - much better flowing cylinder heads. If he's running a carbed setup on it then he's almost definitely not running a stock intake either (5.0's became EFI in the later 80's). HCI swaps on these motors can push 300hp all day, not to mention a bore & stroke (which is what i'm doing...) and new rotating assembly.

  • @abram7117 NEVER underestimate a 5.0. Some run better off the factory floor than others and a good driver makes a big difference. Stock for stock my 1993 GT never had any problems with any Vette til about 2002. I owned a 1994 vette 300 hp at same time as GT and the GT could spank it. 5.0, the little motor that can.

  • @timmypstyle - 6.5 seconds? Were'd you hear that? I had a 1993 5.0 coupe that would hit a speedo in 5.5 seconds all stock. Not bad considering the car only had 225hp. But considering the 300ft lbs of torque, you can see why they can do it. The 5.0 was pushing as much torque as GM's 350 with 50+ less ci. Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races.

  • @JayGeePee1 6.5 seconds was from EVERY source i could find. and with the HP and torque, it fits it pretty much perfectly. my 96 trans am i had was bone stock with 60k would do 60 in 5.6, which is the rating for that car. and it was under-rated at 285hp and 335Lb-Ft. they were actually over 300hp. GM under-rated the camaro/firebird's HP ratings to promote corvette sales, which is why the f-body was discontinued.

  • @timmypstyle also, now that i think about it. you COULD have beaten a few vettes. around where i live, most people who drive expensive cars dont know how to drive them. so slow shifts and stuff like that would make you be able to beat them. but a 5.5 second 0-60 is not happening in a stock 5.0L, unless its downhill but that is still pushing it.

I personally beat stock firebirds and transams to sixty all the time with a completely stock 5.0 Coupe w/ standard shift. I had a G-Tech Performance Meter with GPS that measured not only my 0-60 time, but my 1/4 times as well. 5.5 second 60 and a 14.9 quarter.

  • @JayGeePee1 no, im one of those ones that knows the reality of it. YOUR one of those ones who believes what they see on their meters that are notorious for being wrong. even the EDGE programmer's 0-60 and 1/4 calculations are usually off by .5-1 second. and GPSs are not good for 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. they are only good for constant speed because of the lag time from it going from your car, to the satallite, and back.

  • @timmypstyle AND some GPSs are actually wrong on their speed anyways. dont believe me? ask a highway patrolman. they will tell you how many people they have pulled over that told them their GPS said they were going slower than they were rerally going. BEST way to get your 1/4 time is at the track. a 235hp stock mustang will NOT do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. but 1 second off from your meters is 6.5 which is their area.

  • @timmypstyle a 0-60 of 6.5 is pretty good. so im not bashing you. my 96 T/A was 5.6 and 14.0@101. and adding 1 second on to that would make a 6.6 and a 15.0 which is right about where yours is. even if your car was 5.5 0-60, there is no way you are beating a 97-01 vette like you said unless they couldnt shift. 5.5 is still not quick enough for that. i have raced a 92 vette and beat it but i know i wouldnt beat an 01 with 100hp more than me

  • @timmypstyle also, motorweek tested a 1993 f150 lightning which they said 0-60 was 7.5 seconds. the very next sentence was stating that it was in the mustang GT territory. but either way, even the 4.6L didnt get 5.5 and it had more power than the 5.0L. mustang GTs didnt catch the Z28 or trans am until 2005 when they got 5.2 seconds with 300hp. but Z28 and T/A had 5.2 seconds in 1999.

  • a few weeks ago their was an article in the newspaper here about GPSs and how bad they are to trust with telling you stuff. they interviewed cops about it and they all said the speed they post is not accurate but the biggest problem was that they would say the speed limit was faster than the sign on the street posted. one said he pulled someone over and it said it was a 55mph zone when it was actually 35mph. trust your GPS now?

  • @timmypstyle id say if you had a stock motor 5.0 mustang with some 3.73s and a 5speed, you could definitely hit 5.5 0-60. Stock mustangs can hit pretty close to 6.0

The friend of mine who use to have a Fox, he now owns a '98 GT that's built to the tilt(6spd swap, 600hp @ 15psi, etc). Nothing sounds as good as a Mustang IMO. Unless it's a Ferrari F430. :p

  • @MIGHTYSAMINYOURFACE Alright thanks! Im actually looking to buy a rear end already with 3.73s in them. Removing your ac and smog will make a difference but i would just leave them and get headers for now. If you dont have smog in your state you could take out the pump but your check engine light might come on from no EGR valve. Im not sure if that effects performance or not.

Even in this vid the vette was pulling on the stang & this was no 1/4 mile race. clearly the Mustang was rolling close to its peak Hp range while the vette was maybe high in 3rd and did a 3rd to 4th shift or is an automatic. This is why people race at different roll on speeds. also, vetts have tall gears; and even taller in automatics.

  • If you want to least amount of mods and the most gain from your parts installed put a 4.56 rear end gear in that bitch, a full exhaust system, a nitrous kit, sticky tires and practice driving!

    That will be a complete monster out of the hole, with a not very big motor.

  • what gears does the car have stock? 4.56 seems pretty steep but this car needs to be woke up, im a great driver i can drive it like a raped ape, its just slow as piss...car has 110k miles on it wouldn't nitrous be pretty damn hard on it

  • The nitrous on that car would be fine as long as its in good mechanical shapeeven though the mileage is up there.... but i did forget on those years they have plastic composite intakes that cannot handle even a small nitrous backfire if the shot is big. The car will be a beast with a gear and full exhaust but its still a small v8 so it will love even just a 50-75 shot. That car will also respond well to any weight you can get off of it. The sn platform is extra heavy. Remove front swaybar.

  • Use that recipe: steep gears, sticky tires, some nitrous and practice, make a bunch of dig race kill videos and post them up here. There will be a few other support mods you will need of course but those should be your biggest investments. A good clutch will end up in there, and maybe a few other little things like shifter, maybe a cold air intake or at least K&N filter are things that should endup on the car.

    After the big three look at the tuning PI swap & more support mods; tremec & axles.

  • is it really worth doin headers? I mean thats a hell of a job , and shorties aren't much bigger than stock manifolds...i was thinking just 4.10's and a 50 or 75 shot, i reallyeallyl don't wanna blow this car up as it's my daily driver , its got 110k miles, and i wanna be able to take it up to the track this summer and play with it but it's fuckin embarrasing right now,

  • yeah that motor will love some longtubes if you can get them on there I would skip the shorties, I mean I know its a PITA but the car will still respond pretty good even with just the offroad h-pipe and catback. those 2 are easy.

    I would lean more on other mods because you will get tired of filling up the bottle all the time and that plastic intake is a bitch. Hell even if you blow the motor I can get 4.6 liter PI engines 99-04 with the reinforced intake for like 200 bucks.

  • Junkyards are your friend. we are here in ohio and there are TONS of junk yards filled with 99-04 me and my friends have been doing this a while so we have built some networks, cause 200 bucks was "our price" but for everyone else it wasn't that much more. Less than $500 for low miles all day around here if you know where to look.

    Get the newer 99-04 intake. Find that car you may have the whole swap.

    Anyways this is why I build 5.0's because the last one I bought was 100 bucks with 80k lol.

  • Its a mustang dude that engine is in everything. Even dohc motors are easy swaps for that car. Its ok though there are multiple ways to get to the same objective its how fast you want to go lol?

    My buddy dropped a PI swap engine in (cost him 500 bucks with only 50k on it) and it took him only one day it was running. You will need just a few other things like computer he got his for like 25 bucks.

    Your motor with 110k on it is actually not too much for those engines they are well built.

  • dude i was never tryin to bad mouth mustang in general...just this particular video of you outruning one till 80mph which is right whent he LS1 shines, you and i both know that vette would run that car down with ease .....but thats besides the point...i daily drive a 97 GT , have had it for years..is there much you can do to these cars i don't know much about the 4.6L other than it is a fucking turd stock

  • Ok that was your closing argument here is mine. The Stang ran a better quarter mile time at the track that same summer. The Vette went 12.9@108mph and the stang went 12.7@110mph. And Vette does better after 80 because of gearing more than anything. The Stang is geared to put the power down early. But I was in the car and the only reason it looks like the vette comes back at the end is because the 5.0 was shifting geras and just let out because of traffic.

  • Yeah the 97's are particularly slow it sucks cause the PI swap ones runs pretty good. They still have some potential. The advantage of the PI swap is the parts can probably get found cheap in a junkyard. The work is a lot though & very technical assembling a mod motor with 2 timing chains so make sure you understand what you have to do first.

    My advice would be in this order; 4.10 gears Unless you want to trap over 120mph in the quarter; if so go 3.73) a FULL exhaust, & a nitrous kit 2 start.

  • really? 5.0s come stock with around 220 hp and the LS1 with 335. A H/C/I 5.0 will put down 350 whp while a H/C/I LS1 will put down 450-500whp. so tell me, what is making you not sure?

  • because theres soo much you can do with the 5.0, i know that the ls engines have alot and thats because they're extremely popular, but just like the 5.0. the ford engines that have the most after market parts made for include the 302, just like the 350. the ls engine just takes less to make a certain power than the 5.0 thats all
