I'm almost 13, sure, i like some current songs, but i gotta admit, i love the classic songs much more. I always have it takes me back to childhood, and even my mom's childhood. I agree, the 60s seem to have been a 'better time' from that perspective, but let's not forget the political context at the time as well, I'm thinking about segregation up until 1964, and the condition of women in society etc. I don't want to be a kill joy, what I do try to say is that whatever the period we live in, there'll always be good things AND bad things. What remains for us to do is try and make the best of it :)

It is because my grandmother was an extremely classy lady who died when I was 7. Appreciating the better half of the 1900s does not necessarily have anything to do with society, it could be someone trying to feel close to someone they loved dearly and didn't get a chance to know.
