What do you call the Leafs goalies getting opponents crashing into them? Even the supposed soft Habs team had two goalie interference penalties (Moen and Gomez) against the Leafs. If you played hockey you'd know there are ways to run opponents goalies without getting penalties. One of which involving going to the net and crashing into the goalie once you feel someone pushing you. But if you really feel Leafs D is doing a good job right now , there's no convincing you otherwise.

I've seen players take a puck in the face come back with a broken nose to finish the game(Smyth). 5'7'' guy taking a beating in front of the net and standing up to Chara knowing there is no way in hell he'd win just to get a deflection goal(Gionta). Block 3 straight shots in the same 5 on 3, continue the shift in pain and clear the puck out(Stajan). imo THAT is tough.

I don't think you know what a soft player is. The Leafs forward group is much softer than the Habs. Lappiere, Latendresse, and Andrei Kostitsyn had more hits than any forward on the Leafs last season. Our forwards may be small, but they're tough. Of course you'd have to watch hockey to know that Cammalleri, Gionta, and Gomez don't back down and drive to the net. You have to watch hockey to see that AKosty, Lats, & Laps play hard. Only soft player in our top 6 is Plekanec.

Having a tough defense is fine and dandy, but your forward group is softer than the Habs. Yes Gionta is 5'7'', and he still drives to the net and stays there regardless of the punishment. Like I said, you don't know what a soft player is. Ian White is 5'10'' and he's not soft. Stralman is 6'1'' and he is (thus the being traed). Size and toughness have no correlation. Of course you'd have to watch to know that.

Cammalleri is better than any forward on the Leafs, including their best Blake. If you had to bet whether Gionta and Gomez will put up 60+ points or Ponikarovsky and Stajan will, who would you pick? Markov has been better than Kaberle for the past two years now. Toskala was one of the worst goalies in the entire league last two seasons. The leafs lost their best d from last season in Kubina.
The leafs now have a D line, 1 through 7 thats in the top 3 in the entire league! montreal, will obviously always be a rival, but only for historic reasons, GO LEAFS!
The Leafs will only have a top 3 D in the league if Komisarek plays like he did in 07/08, Beauchemin plays like he did in 06/07, Kaberle plays like he did in 06/07. If any of those three play like they did last season, the Leafs are in trouble.

Intimidated players don't run your goalie. Intimidated players don't bang away at the puck after the whistle while standing in the crease.

I've watched every single game and the Leafs goalies have barely gotten run unless a Leafs' defenseman pushes someone into them.. The Anaheim goal was a screen and the forward ended up falling on the goalie after the puck was in the net - I don't think you know what running the goalie actually means..

What do you call the Leafs goalies getting opponents crashing into them? Even the supposed soft Habs team had two goalie interference penalties (Moen and Gomez) against the Leafs. If you played hockey you'd know there are ways to run opponents goalies without getting penalties. One of which involving going to the net and crashing into the goalie once you feel someone pushing you. But if you really feel Leafs D is doing a good job right now , there's no convincing you otherwise.

Not true, see Toskala'a injury. You get a goaltender interference penalty if the ref thinks you had a chance to not hit the goalie but decided not to dodge. Stewart one was when he had a breakaway in the first period. The only breakaway (aside from shootouts) in the game.

You don't HAVE to fight to be tough. imo toughness is being fearless in helping your team knowing the consequences on your body. I've seen players take a puck in the face come back with a broken nose to finish the game(Smyth). 5'7'' guy taking a beating in front of the net and standing up to Chara knowing there is no way in hell he'd win just to get a deflection goal(Gionta). Block 3 straight shots in the same 5 on 3, continue the shift in pain and clear the puck out(Stajan). imo THAT is tough.

I don't think you know what a soft player is. The Leafs forward group is much softer than the Habs. Lappiere, Latendresse, and Andrei Kostitsyn had more hits than any forward on the Leafs last season. Our forwards may be small, but they're tough. Of course you'd have to watch hockey to know that Cammalleri, Gionta, and Gomez don't back down and drive to the net. You have to watch hockey to see that AKosty, Lats, & Laps play hard. Only soft player in our top 6 is Plekanec.

Having a tough defense is fine and dandy, but your forward group is softer than the Habs. Yes Gionta is 5'7'', and he still drives to the net and stays there regardless of the punishment. Like I said, you don't know what a soft player is. Ian White is 5'10'' and he's not soft. Stralman is 6'1'' and he is (thus the being traed). Size and toughness have no correlation. Of course you'd have to watch to know that.

Cammalleri is better than any forward on the Leafs, including their best Blake. If you had to bet whether Gionta and Gomez will put up 60+ points or Ponikarovsky and Stajan will, who would you pick? Markov has been better than Kaberle for the past two years now. Toskala was one of the worst goalies in the entire league last two seasons. The leafs lost their best d from last season in Kubina.
