This is pure genius. The gestures are minimal yet so effective and the 'change' from sweet subdued girl to a viper happens in a split of a second. The vocal performance mixes pop style with French sensibility. One of the most interesting and influential women of the 20th century.
Gad,I wish people would research before posting,Eartha was NOT the 1st Catwoman, she was the 3rd after Julie Newmar in the 1st and part of the second seasons and Lee Meriwether in the '66 movie between seasons 1& 2.She was however the purrrrrrrr-fect Catwoman.
How dare you call her a nasty person.. she was NOT a nasty person. She was warm and caring, and delighted the hearts of millions worldwide. And furthermore.. she had a VERY rough life (orphaned, beaten, abused, shuffled from house to house as a child). After all her hard work to get out of that.. I'd say she was entitled to a bit of nastiness if she felt so inclined!
She was indeed a very kind woman, and she loved her fans so much. My dad saw her perform in Paris in 1980, I think it was, and she waited after the show to sign autographs to each and every single person. My dad didn't even have to ask for a hug, as she hugged every single person who wanted to take a photograph with her.
Eartha Kitt was actually the second Cat Woman after Julie Newmar. Eartha is my prefered Cat Woman, though. Far more sensual and feline in her portrail. Loved the way she purrrred all worrrrds with the letterrr "RRRRRRR"!
I have to correct you on your answer. The origional Cat Woman was Miss Kitt. I am old enough to remember when the series first aired on TV. Her sensual manor is what landed her the role. Ms Newmar came later in the series.
I heard Dionne Warwick speak about how big an influence miss Kitt had been on her, and she's not the only one! Tina, BARBRA, Diahann and countless of other legends have cited EARTHA as a main source of inspiration.
Is this the original key?

Your very wrong Seshmi. Julie Newmar was the first Catwoman ( 1966-1968) Lee Meriwether ( 1966 movie only) Eartha Kitt ( 1967-1968).
TimeBolt 2 years ago 2
but one thing you have to remember..she was the easiest to remember..cause she was..shall i say... purrfect as cat woman
1957thunderbird312 2 years ago
@Seshmi Actually, Eartha Kitt was only in the last season. She was still the best, though.
