  • I once read a fanfiction on a scenario for how Batman's Innocence was proven. Gordon said he'd have no part in bringing Batman in. While Reeves and the Cops we're trying to catch Batman, Gordon was out trying to prove it wasn't Batman that killed those thugs. He secretly video taped the rooftop fight beween Batman and the Phantasm, then showed it at a press conference the day after the World's Fair explosions.

  • this movie has everything that makes batman great:

    blood

    backstory

the best fight with the joker, ever

    a crapload of explosions

    and mark hamil's epic laugh.

  • The Nolan films have totally lost the beautiful fantasy which this majestic film captures so well. With Nolan's interpretation, I don't really feel like I'm watching Batman, more like NYPD Blue or 24 or something along those lines, and Batman just happens to be there for some reason. I don't know...

  • @TheJboy88 Yes

  • Thank you very much cheesy granola

But something else I don't understand

Why didn't her father just help pay for the politicans campagin?

  • Questions

First how did batman get his name cleared?

Why didn't she just stay with batman?

Why was her father invoked with these men?

  • @135Emmy 1. They never explain that, which is probably the only loose end of the movie.

    2. Because she was a killer. She knew he'd never be able to look past that and have a relationship with her.

    3. I think they did some behind the scenes work to get him into his position.

  • @135Emmy Oh, I just recalled something: Joker ends up recording a video feed of the Phantasm when she goes to murder Salvatore and tells her that her name will be all over Gotham before trying to blow her up with a bomb.

  • Am I the only one who thinks this movie also inspired Nolan at Begins?

  • THE BEST BATMAN CARTOON MOVIE EVER!!!!

  • I hope The dark knight rises ends like this, this was awsome

  • "I am".

Did anyone else get a case of heartbreak after that?

  • I decided to see this because of Andrea's reappearance in Batman Beyond.

  • @richardworthtucker its better when u dnt know. Adds to his many unanswered

  • One thing that never got wrapped up in this movie. How did Batman get his name cleared? Did Andrea send a confession to the police before she ran? Did the Councilman admit to what Joker told him about it being someone else?

  • @NYG4LIFE123 I'm willing to accept that Joker just got away. He's like Michael Myers in that aspect. He just keeps coming back and we don't know how. Adds to his mystery, but I would have liked the little thing about Batman being innocent cleared up somehow.

  • At 0:33 to 1:10, that's how I felt after watching the ending if Batman Arkham City. The Joker may be dead, but there are still criminals out there that need to be stopped.

  • What happened to Joker?

  • @richardworthtucker

I couldn't post the link, but type in Google search "what happened to the Joker in Mask of the Phantasm." It should be a site from World's finest.com It even has the scans from the comics on how the Joker got away and how Andrea decided that he wasn't worth it anymore since he was only a lackey then.

  • @richardworthtucker

It was shown in a flashback. Andrea saw Jack come out, and after going in the house, she screamed, obviously bcause of the sight of her fathers dead body.

  • @richardworthtucker , Both i guess. They him to come at the signal spot to ask him for a mission

  • 0:34

  • I was born 1996 and i have always loved the batman series, Now when im 15 im still watching BTAS sometimes :D

  • I bet he was thinking "This is my Destiny."

  • I remember watching this like 100 times when i was like 10. The music completely blew my mind.

  • What did he grappling-hook onto? He's on a skyscraper.

  • @dolphin64575

same could be said about spiderman. lol

  • Shirley Walker knew Batman.

  • He accepted his destiny.

  • Love this scene. It's almost as if he's praying before he makes the final leap.

  • Best Batman film ever, even better than the live action movies IMO,it reflects perfectly how Batman is and his motivations.

  • wait, did she kill Mistah J

    Harley is goanna be PISSED

  • @DeathDealer1997 Sweet mother of Christ, finding out that people your age still watch BTAS is the best news I've gotten all morning.

  • @NinjaRafter Are you KIDDING? They're Re-showing it on the Hub! =D

  • @TVJUNK85 On the what now? Is that like a Cartoon Network that doesn't suck?

  • @NinjaRafter Yeah, pretty much. Although the Hub does show some stupid shows (like toddler shows) it's re-showing Batman: the Animated Series and Batman Beyond. If you have DirectTV, it should be sitting right before all the Disney channels.

  • @NinjaRafter No, the rest of the channel is pretty much garbage. They have some Transformers Prime show, the old Goosebumps show, and then like My Little Pony or something. But at least my trusty DVR skips all the bull and goes right to the Bat!

  • @NinjaRafter The Hub is basically a kids TV channel that is run by people who made the cartoons of the 90s. They replay a lot of old stuff and some new stuff. If it means anything they are the home of the new My Little Pony series.

  • @NinjaRafter Yeah, kinda. They show all kinds of old Tv shows like The origninal Transformers, TAS, Batman Beyond, and Goosebumps. They also have their own shows Like the Haunting hour and MLP: FIM. But It's a digital channel.

  • @NinjaRafter They remodeled discovery channel into the Hub and bought the rights to air a bunch of old shows like the Adam West Batman, Doogie Howser, Batman Beyond, and Batman the Animated Series.

  • @TVJUNK85

    REALLY? COOL!!!!!!! =3

  • @DeathDealer1997

i think the gift she left in the batman meant she accepts batman's advice to stop the killing spree and goodbye. she probably gave him a massive beat down and left him for dead in an alley somewhere though LOL!

  • @DeathDealer1997

actually, Joker was killed in Batman Beyond : Return of Joker.

  • @DeathDealer1997 She didn't kill Mistah J he lived on to confront Batman many on many laughing occasion

  • Wbats the name of this song?

  • @KingNazaru Type "Batman Mask of The Phantasm Theme" into youtube. It's part of the official soundtrack made by Shirley Walker. The part that is featured on this videos is from 1:20 to 2:06

  • This movie is long overdue for a special edition Blu Ray/DVD release, just imagine what it would look like remastered in HD.

  • @ 00:35 this should be the ending 4 The Dark Knight Rises

  • @Antlaw09 I don't think so.The ending of the dark knight is pretty clever.Batman on his bat-pod while Gordon is explaining to his son why he is " The dark knight ".

  • a kickass theme kickass grapple gadget kick ass look and a kick ass cape like that who the hell needs super powers?

  • @UniversalTopicVids

but need one thing....have to be a billionaire

  • and out of no where "OOOO Batty....heeeee hehe heeee......you don't think I would leave you do you?? heee he he.....we still have looooots to dooo.. HA HA HAAAAA!!!!!"

  • So that's what happened to Jughead.

  • This was supposed to be the series finale to TAS, and if they ended it here, it would have been phenominal. Instead we got that shaky fourth season.

  • For an animated film, this is pretty damn epic and ossum.

  • this is why I love Batman more than superman, he's more badass and emotional, that and his enemies are cooler i.e. the joker, two-face, mr. freeze, bane, ra's al ghul, etc.

  • @roboguy75 I've always thought the Batman universe was more realistic...Batman's only weakness is his humanity.

  • This Movie?

Proof that the Bat-Glare is 10x more powerful than all of Superman's 'superpowers' put together. Every time Batman and Superman have been in the same scene, Superman has been mostly "o.O please don't hurt me. you are scary. glad you're a good guy. I think...."

  • @DarthRaukrist ^same scene in the other cartoons, not this movie. :P

  • been the dark knight its a curse... always alone, always at war, he accepted his destiny, his mission,,. and never looked back, u can see that in epilogue. the Bat the greatest hero of them all. a human, a shadow, a warrior.

  • This was a fucking amazing movie, as mob314 said the creators understood Batman's character, friends, villains and life to the dark and extreme extent that Nolan does. Most underseen Batman movie ever and a true animated masterpiece, can easily stand up to Nolan's films in every way.

  • I'm glad I got to see this in theaters on Christmas Day. I saw a preview for it on TV and I saw the poster in newspapers. I was only 3 years old when I saw Mask of the Phantasm in theaters. This was also the first Batman movie I saw in theaters. The others I've seen are Batman Forever,Batman & Robin,Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight. I'm definetly not going to miss out on seeing TDKR in theaters and the next Batman reboot movie series being made after the third Nolan film.

  • THE DARK KNIGHT

  • The movie is for kids, but there are mature moments such as criminals with actual guns,Batman getting cut by the planes in The World of the Future and him actually bleeding, and the Joker getting kicked in the jaw and bleeding from his nose. Also Bruce and Andrea actually had sex off screen and that's why Andrea is wearing Bruce's shirt in the morning. Also Andrea kicking The Joker in the nads and lastly The Joker saying lines like "Feeling the old electricity tonight?" meaning sex.

  • @sunblade223 not to forget the Scene where the Phantasm drops a Tombstone on top of a Mobster and kills him.

  • @sunblade223 You ABSOLUTELY have a point right there, when I watched the movie. I felt that at most moments it had maturity. I think this that is why this movie was rated PG. But I love this animated movie, this is actually got to be one of the first animated films that I actually feel emotion and the tension. The music is what also brings the Movie to Life.

  • this film, the dark knight, and batman 1989 have the best finale scenes

  • @Kingdom007Hearts i agree!

  • Kevin Conroy will always be the Batman, just as Mark Hamil will always be the Joker.

  • @TaishoAce1001 Hell yeah , without them Batman or The Joker wouldn't have a Voice. Seriously they are Legends.

  • @JAYCZero :)

  • @TaishoAce1001 ; ) Right back at Ya, and I have to say that this has probably got to be the first Animated film where I felt ALOT of EMOTION. Like Seriously it didn't feel like a Children's movie. It felt more adult theme oriented, It has more realism. No wonder this became Critically Acclaimed by many Critics. You know how hard that is to Accomplish?Yeah

  • @JAYCZero Yup.

  • its dumb ho ppl say this is a low budget film lol!! thats seems soooo stupid but this movie is really epic..the second design of bruce wayne is cooler haha ..but this persona is cooler cause of comic relief ..epic movie ...

  • This is one of the most epic moments in the history of Animated movies and the history of Batman Animations of all time.

Can't wait to play Arkham City.

  • :This movie was so epic! The music was so dark, gloomy and brooding...Wonderfully done.

  • I have all the respect in the world for Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer and the composers of the other animated Batman films/tv shows did a really good job too, but for my money Shirley Walker's music hits the mark more than anyone when it comes to Batman. It's probably my favorite Batman film too.

  • I would feel sorry for whatever criminal he's about to take his anger out on..

  • The man who created this film understood everything about batman's environment, masterpiece as well as Burton's or Nolan's films.

  • This is what I hate about batman. I love the character, but he always ends up alone...

    It's depressing.

  • In my own opinion, this is the sequel to tim burton's batman returns

  • Now THIS is batman! :)

  • The Best Batman Cartoon Movie Ever!!!!

  • "Its not doing the things we love but doing the things we must that makes life blessed."

  • @SuperReded what's that from?

  • what a man

  • i thought he should of glided not grapled at the end

  • @theferretwoman he didn't really do that in this cartoon. he had a glider but it was basically a big hang glider. the cape glider in Batman Begins doesn't make any sense if you think about it. no way could that hold up the full weight of an adult human male.

  • when Batman is standing on the roof has only one thought " This is my destiny "

  • @gejmer45 I've always thought that the final shot of Return of the Joke was mean to mirror it, but maybe it's just me.

  • What about The Joker!? <:(

  • @Anilucard1 that's a good question

  • Oh man, that music! Best ending to a Batman movie ever!

  • alright, who would like to hear this music at the end of "the dark knight rises"? :)

  • EPIC.

  • "Huuuh, i lost my girlfriend...my true love...."

    TAAA TAAA TATAAAAA !!

"Oh, hell ! I got my own car and signal ! Fuck her !"

  • @JRico0003 Thank you. I liked "The Batman" but I can see where your coming from, mines based off nostalga but I'm willing to admit that by following your example.

  • when the bat signal awakens Bruce from his grief to once again protect the people of Gotham, i get goose bumps. It's such moving and powerful scene

  • so not only was the movie extremely well written but i mean this is by far some of the best batman theme music ever made. another reason why 90's cartoons will always be the best. hell this movie even won a grammy lol

  • My favorite Batman Movies:

    1.The Dark Knight

    2.Batman Forever

    3.The Mask of the Phantasm

    4.Batman(1989)

    5.Batman Begins

  • @NickHLR aw no return of the joker

  • I agree 100%

  • @JRico0003 i agree

  • damm this is a good ending to batman.

  • :43 bat senses are tingling

  • batman = best hero ever

  • genial!!!klasse end!!!!Batman forever!!!!

  • @novitec86 what are you talking about? Mask of the Phantasm was WAY better than Batman Forever! LOL ; )

  • @DarthRaukrist I think he's crying "Batman Forever!" I don't think he's referencing the movie.

  • as a kid this movie kicked ass....now...it kicks it even harder!!!! lollll batman tas...one the most epic series ever!

  • One of my favorite movies of all time :) Long Live Batman!

  • this movie is very dark and we can know why batman have never girlfriend this movie is a very cult

  • Best batman movie animated or reall

  • my all time favorite batman movie.

  • Reminds me of the ending from Tim Burton's Batman movie look it up

  • bring us more dcau!

  • still one in my top 5 animated movies ever. certainly in my top 3 batman movies.

Keven Conroy best voice actor of the 90s bar none

  • kevin conroy is the batman

  • 10/10 the best animated batman

  • I got chills when he oppened his eyes at 0:44

  • The script, the music, the animation, the characters

    =

    A flippin' great movie

  • This is the best scene in an animated movie for Batman.

  • i was born 1993 and as a little kid i used to watch this film over and over again.

some time ago i dug up my old VCR just to watch this again and i just got the most awsome deja vu and I could still almost remember all of the dialogue. :D

  • @Tun471 Wow ... i thought i was the only one that it happened to :O

still fuckin amazing as it was back then ...

  • @JRico0003 I agree with you 100 percent

  • Not one of the best animated films, the best my friend

  • what was the background music called?

  • @GundamMeister00

    Batman's Destiny

  • Kevin Conroy is the best thing that has ever happened to the Batman character.

  • @EliteF50

Best thing to happen to his noncomic book version counterpart.

  • Kevin Conroy is and will always be Batman

    Thumbs up if you agree

  • @Crimson28

Time to end this who's the better Batman once and for all. There is only one man who is and always will be Batman, everyone else is just a pretender: Bruce Wayne.

  • @hellscorpion2 True, very true. BUT Kevin Conroy is and will always be Batman. Every time i see or picture Batman, I hear Kevins voice. I'm not the only one who feels that way.

  • Comment removed

  • @Crimson28 yeah him and mark hamil are the voices you think of for batman and the joker when reading the comics

  • @Crimson28 hell yeah

  • @Crimson28

just like mark hamill will always be joker!

  • @nyblusaiyan Hell yeah! Whenever I read Jokers dialogue or laughter in anything, my mind immediately hears Marks voice lol

  • @nyblusaiyan ...and Luke Skywalker. :P

  • @Crimson28 yes kevin conroy and will ferdle from batman beyond

  • Why can't they ever get Conroy get more Batman roles?

  • Notice she has her head down eyes closed, and he has his head down eyes closed. I'm sure their thinking of each other. Then batman has to go to work.

    You go boy!!

  • Music at the end is epic.I love the theme and how he just stands over the city, staring at the signal before leaping into action.

  • @JRico0003

While it is undeniable that Kevin Conroy is impressive, I'm going to end the who's better saga; There IS ONLY ONE TRUE BATMAN: Bruce Wayne.

There now the only people who have any reason to be upset are those who think that punkass Dick Grayson is Batman. He's a boy who thinks he's Batman.

  • epic!!!!!!gänsehaut ende!!!!

  • This ending (including how Andrea left the battle scene) reminds me of the ending from Batman Returns. ...Y'know, except with Catwoman instead.

  • this movie never gets old..

  • Yeah your right.

Kevin Conroy did have the best Batman voice.

He has been voicing Batman for 20 years now.

  • I got chills from this

  • iam gonna play this when i get married XD

  • @maxell149 Ahahahahahahahahahahahahah XD Never thought of it, but still ...

  • @maxell149 That would be the most EPIC wedding ever

  • they should make a batman beyond movie

  • @JRico0003 In EVERYONE's opinion*. -_-

Bruce Wayne is secretly Kevin Conroy, and Kevin is secretly Batman.

  • Batman Is The GOD Of DC
