  • ive just seen this video i wish i could do this

  • Does anyone know who the woman performing at 1:30 is? I remember that she was very tall and had discolored teeth. I cannot remember if she was on the Russian, Ukranian, Romanian, etc. squad. Thanks.

  • She also appears at 2:58.

  • The 1996 Olympics feel like yesterday to me. I was 13 then and fascinated with the gymnastics portion of the games and the story of the gymnists.

  • my favorite montage ever<3...thank u!!!

  • OMG i almost cried dont do that to me!!

  • I was 12 during the Atlanta Olympics and was absolutely obsessed with gymnastics. I had pictures of the Magnificent Seven all over my walls. I was lucky the Olympic trials were in Boston that year and got to see the girls compete for team spots. I wish gymnastics was still as special as this team was. These girls were household names and they managed to do the impossible...win gold! They've changed too much about the sport. I just don't understand the scoring system anymore, which is frustrating

  • Wow this brought back some memories! I don't think there has ever been a better time in women's gymnastics than the Atlanta Olympics, incredible!

  • @vodka56 I agree definitely the last great Olympic games for Gymnastics, after this everything changed. The magic and the beauty are gone out of the sport now.

  • theres a different version to this song do u know what it is please???

  • Amazing Montage. love it

  • Amazing Montage. love it

  • Amazing!

  • awesome montage.. i was wondering why currently gymnastics is not much fun to watch anymore? love the old olympics from 92, 96

  • Amazing!!!!! It brought tears in my eyes!!

  • Great montage! I have to watch more of them. By the way, love the Khorki ending pose at 2:24 and the girl at 1:30 Milo looks just like Rebecca Bross. No one has made that comparison yet but I totally see it! Milo's prettier though! =D

  • they are all so graceful.

  • the intensity of the music just increases the eternal magical moments from 1996! thnx so much for the video :) at least we can relive the the moments like this :)

  • i always feel like i'm there when i watch your montages. Like on the team experiencing what they are. It gives me chills lol (:

  • Wow that brought back the memories.

  • in the featuring atlanta's stars in the description you didn't include Mo

she was in the montage but not much

she was the only person who really could have challenged lilia for AA

your decision not to include her puzzles me..

  • no expert on gymnastics, but back then there seems to be so much passion and love for gymnastics as an art form rather than a sport. Now there is still talent, but seems much more focused on competition :(

  • thAT WAS BEAUTIFUL

  • wow... AMAZING!!! I LOVED IT!!!! <3 Can't wait to see the others like all these other ppl r talking about... GREAT JOB!!!

  • Ho my god this is just amazing ! bloogy brilliant ! I don't know the english word for "chaire de poule" and i can't explain what i feel but i can say thanyou so much for this montage. The musics, the timing, the videos everything is just perfect and it reminds me when i was young and staid in front of the tv in the middle of the night to watch those games (i'm french ^^)...

  • If you know at all, would you be able to tell me where you got the second shot (0.7-0.10) of the pan over of the equipment please?

It looks like it could be Day 2 of event Finals since theres no vault, but I cant find this shot on any of the videos I've watched. I want to use it in a montage if possible.

  • I've had the chance to watch many gymnastics montages on YouTube, but this one is leagues above the rest.

Nade00, this is AMAZING. The video clips, the beautiful music... everything you did for this montage is breathtaking!

I think it's so great because it brings back some of the best memories. It seems like this is an Olympics that stands out for so many people. The combo of the athletes, the venue, the routines...I always felt like 1996 was the end of an era. I miss THIS gymnastics.

  • I agreed, "the end of the era" is the best way to put it. Gymnastics hit their pinnacle in between 1992-1996...after that I went downhill. I remember how disappointed I was in the 2000 olympics after such height from 1996. 2004 was pathetic, and 2008 was full of controversy..not to mention the new dumb code of points. I can't understand how the score now.

  • I'm glad to see it's not just me. I really wish gymnastics would get back to the way it used be.

  • @theintranet, I agree about the 2000 Olympics. I was SO excited to watch, but the gymnastics was such a letdown. It didn't seem at all like the Olympics. I barely remember 2000...the only routines that stood out for me were the floor routines of Andreea Raducan (great music) and Lisa Skinner (beautiful choreography). What a letdown after the excitement and tension of 1996. Plus the botched handling of the US team: the training camps, the "Trials," screwing over the alternate, the messy AA? Ugh.

  • Comment removed

  • ah and someone already answered. oops :)

  • The music maches the mood. This was the first Games that I can remember watching.

I do have one question... why are there 4 flags being lifted at 3:04?

  • Because it was from the all-around - where Simona Amanar and Lavinia Milosovici, both from Romania, tied for the bronze medal.

  • @Smiley5129 thx

  • two girls tied for 3rd from Romania. i think they score differently now as to not have ties, but this was before all the rule changing. however, if there was a tie for second, then there would be no bronze awarded. just gold and two silver.

  • Very nice video. Well done!

  • This is such a great montage--I can't believe this was 13 years ago! I still remember every score, etc...It's a shame that gymnastics has changed so much. The world championships this year were so disappointing! And, why can't I find this or any other gymnastics on DVD anywhere? Does anyone have any advice?

  • well the world championships the year after the olympics are always dissapointing, becuz the new uprisers in gymnastics arent eligible until the year before the olympics. also, becuase there is no team competition

  • This video is amazing. This Olympics is the one that made me start gymnastics, but gymnastics isn't this way anymore; now I watch this video to live in the old days. Oh I miss gymnastics so!

  • Awesome video.

  • that was an AWESOME montage! Love the music!!!

  • If gymnastics were still like this; more art, less demanding dangerous skill, I would still be in it :(

  • @FoundandHappy I couldn't agree more. I love the art of the gymnastics from the early nineties. These days with gymnasts like Shawn Johnson, we seemed to have moved onto an era where gymnasts are more focused on filling routines with dangerous, powerful skills as opposed to the elegance.

  • Now THIS is Artistic gymnastics!!

  • this is a really beautiful montage. I wish I could make them like this one. very well done. :)

  • I love these sports, this is absolutely fabulous, i read on the net that the big winner her was the romanian laviana milosevice.

  • i love this montage!! the music is reallii pretty =]

  • Brilliant! For me this was the height of gymnastics. Beauty was still in the sport. Compulsories really added to the competition, and these gymnasts were just excellent. My favourite COP, my favourite gymnasts, my favourite competition ever.

  • Think of all the absolutely amazing gymnasts who were there at those games . . .

  • I absolutly LOVE your montages! My favorites are the beam and floor ones.

I really like how you don't just do them about say 'Shawn Johnson' or 'Nastia Liukin' you do them about an event weather it's a gymnastics 'event' (vault, bars, beam, floor) or it's a event in 'history'

I also like how playful some of them are, you do a great job fitting them to the music!!

    Thanks!

  • @csurvivor7

your montage made me feel like I'm reliving the glory of the 1996 Olympics

  • @csurvivor7

Hi I just saw your comment and I really appreciate your kindness. I love making montages and wish I had time to do it more often!

  • I remember this like it was yesterday. The smell, the lights, the cheering, almost everyone cryed at some point. Atlanta was awesome!

  • I cried when Elfie kept criticizing everybody and wouldn't shut up. I cried when Alexandra fell off the beam twice, and when Dominique cracked her head on the beam, and when Shannon fell apart in the all-around. I cried that the Romanians didn't get the team medal that they would have if it had been held in a neutral country. But I smiled every time I saw Mo. And I smiled for Gina, because she couldn't. And I smiled for Lilia because she was the best.

  • you had me up until neutral conutry. the americans kicked major ass here and to imply any differently is a discredit to how well those 7 girls performed. the romanians were short stacked in the number of gymnats they had for their team and the russians fell a few times.

the american women were nearly flawless up until the end, and at that point their lead was so great, all they need was a 9.0 or better. so no.

  • hey did china have right age gymnasts that year

  • who knows? they didn't in 2000, because some gymnasts came out and said that they were too young.

  • yeahh...

Yang Yun and Dong Fangxiao were both 14 at the olympics. the rest were the right age.

  • Yes, they were all 12.

  • there wasn't an age limit back then, if you were good enough to go you went, most of the americans were about 14.

  • Comment removed

  • really? well that's news to me, but why was my comment marked down? :S

  • There was an age limit. A gymnast had to be 15 in the year. So you could be 14 just so long as your 15th birthday was sometime during the year of the competition.

  • oh, fair enough. i think i prefer that one to the new one.

  • I'm not sure it makes much difference because now the age states that a gymnast must be 16 in the year. So gymnast can still compete even though they are 15. So really the age limit has been moved up a year. Also in 96 the Olympic champion Lilia Podkopayeva was 17.... so older gymnasts were already winning major competitions. But who am i to make sense of the FIG and there ideas.

  • Easily the best year for gymnastics apart from this last year with Shawn and Nastia. I didn't think we wee ever gonna get a year as good as 96 again.

  • anyone knows about 'the end' great moment , all the girls dancing macarena, do u have the video?

  • its the 199 oylmpic gymnastics gala

  • 1996 was the best Olympic year for gymnastics. Stiff competition everywhere. 2000 had the potential to be amazing as well especially in the all around, with a fit Khorkina, Raducan, Amanar, Lobaznyuk, Karpenko,Zamoldchikova, etc But the vaulting debacle ruined everything.

  • Good Work!

  • what a tough contest!

  • 1991-1996 were the greatest years in gymnastics! so many talents and rivalries. first Zmeskal, Miller, Boginskaya, Onodi, bontas in 1991-1992, then miller, milo, gogean, dawes in 1993-1994, and finally podkepeyeva, khorkina, kotchekova, mo huilan, moceanu, amanar joined the gang in 1995-1996. it was great!

  • This is so moving. I love it. Perfect music and perfect clips. This was BY FAR my favorite world gymnastics competition ever!

  • @jsaw21 I couldn't agree more! The nostalgia that comes back while watching this video... sigh. How much I miss the way gymnastics used to be. There used to be dozens of Nastia-types leaping around. Grace wasn't a rarity. They all had elegance. They all had personality. They all had something about them that made each gymnast stand out in some way. Sometimes you just weren't SURE who was going to win, because so many had a real shot.

I wonder if artistic gymnastics will ever be like this again.

  • OMG! it gave me goose bumps...XD....I <3 it!!!

  • gave me shivers!!! amazing!!!

  • I agree with some of the comments below

    the best olympics ever!!!

  • SONG CHOISE --> 5 STARS FOR SURE. The song's called 'My name is Lincoln' by Steve Jablonsky

  • GENIUS! i love it. its great cuz there's so much more than just the US.... which is refreshing. i don't remember watching this on tv cuz i was little but i was soo missing out! lol .awesome job. bela's so cool too... lol

  • Great montage! loved it! very moving music...

I miss gymnasts like this, i didn't enjoy this olympics gymnastics... there need to be more Bogenskaya's and Millers--- those girls made gymnastics magical!

  • What I really liked about this Olympics that there were no new breakout stars. So many gymnasts that had competed since 92 were still there and fighting for the gold medals. And those that had emerged had done so in the years building up to the Olympics, so they were not new to the sport. There were so many great gymnasts to pull for, and they almost all walked away with a medal.

  • What about Strug...that one legged vault won USA Gold! And Jaycie Phelps did good as well.

  • fantasic. my favorite montage ever.

  • what genius created this!

  • The best Olympics ever!!

  • Amazing Montage! This is one of my new favorites for sure!

  • Best Olympics ever!!

  • i love it

  • i remember lilia was da best all around there

  • maybe we were just supposed to wait till 16' in (maybe) chicago to win another team gold? i think so.

  • amazing montage!

  • GRAZIE

  • that was amazing, there couldnt have been a better selection of music.. fantastic

  • this video was awsome and i loved the music

  • Fan-bloody-Tastic video! Awesome choice of music!

  • i rly love this vid a lot of memories come to my mind right now

    i was moved !!

  • Ah, I do love this!

  • Lilia Podkopaeva (3:03) SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!!!

  • Good Work!

  • Wow! This was great! I still have this whole competition on tape and I still get it out and watch it. Your montage gave it new excitement and life. Love that all gymasts from all countries were included!

  • Thank you for posting this, it really is one of THE BEST montages ever -- it really captured the amazing highlights of those Olympic gymnastics moments that many of us watched in fascination and couldn't tear our eyes from. Thank you!

  • This is a fabulous montage. One of the best I've ever seen!

  • the routine at 2:07 is AMAZING!!!!

  • 101 is beautiful

  • omg i l0ve the olympics !!

  • who was the gymnast that landed on one foot?....WOW

  • the music, just captures the emotion that went on in that arena. amazing. o and that was kerri strug. many dont know that even though dominique fell on both her vaults and got a 9.2 domie won the gold for them, kerri just secured it.

  • That's true I remember watching it and after they won, they stated that Dominique's routine was good enough and Kerri didn't need to vault.

    Awesome video.

  • i dont like it when peope say kerri won gold, domie won gold, etc. it took all of those girls working together to win. it's not just the last person who goes up who wins...its everyone involved.

and what kerri did was still amazing. she wanted to cement the medal and not have to wait for the scores to come out. besides, who wants to be remembered for falling on their butt in the olympics? she did that for herself more than anyone else. it was the media that made it what it is, not her.

  • Kerri Strug part of the magnificent seven

  • that was kerri strug

  • KERRI STRUG

  • ...WOW!!!!...

  • really really cool...i was only eight but i was there and it was awesome

  • PRECIOSO

  • 2:16... imagine a 'guy' doing that

  • Wow! Awe-inspiring montage! What a thrilling way to capture the best Olympic games in women's gymnastics ever! This brings back memories of so many legends in one game: Shannon, the 2 Dominiques, the 2 Svetlanas, Lilia, and of course, the heroic Kerri Strug! Superb! I'm almost in tears!

  • Stunning montage to the best Olympics of all time, gymnastics-wise, so much depth, so many strong teams, so much talent... Perfect! xxx

  • i know! back then a 9.5 was lie.... a horrible score because the gold medalist wre int eh 9.8'2 and 9.9's and well yah. like in worlds in 03 a 9.3 was a really good score.... :(

  • fantástico! muy bien hecho!

  • Amazing!

  • Who is the gymnast at 1:00? I don't think it's Gina Gogean, but I'm not sure

  • It actually is Gina Gogean, from what I can see. The hair gives it away.

  • omg with these girls ! amazing !

  • the jumping spin at 1:00 is soo elegent i am a elite gymnast and am working on adding a back flic befor!

  • the image of Podkepeyeva Ukraine's flag rising and 3 Romanias followed by was powerful! shows how dedicated and dominated the Romanian and Soviet were in gymnastics even in America's soil. I wish they still have 3 athletes per country compete in the AA again.

  • "...were in gymnastics even in America's soil."

first of all, it's ON America's soil, not in. and secondly, it's the OLYMPICS for crying out loud. i'm sure you'd be dedictated where ever you played, regardless of it being america.

third of all, didn't america win gold in TF?

  • ghlover2001, why are you sound so ANGRY and BITTER? So what? I had a typo of "in" instead of "on", but this ain't spelling bee or English class, and I don't have all day spell checking everything. IT WAS JUST A COMMENT ON THE VIDEO. CHILL OUT!!!

Maybe you weren't there in Atlanta in 1996, but the crowds were so pro America that they totally ignored the existing of the other teams. American team stayed in nice hotel, while every other teams stayed in Olympics village

  • American team has home advantage while other teams had injuries. And yes they did win TF, and they deserved it. But the result could have been much different if the Romanian didn't have an injury and had to substitute their alternate and the Soviet still compete together.

  • The crowds will always be pro-home country...everyone knows that. You'd have to be ignorant to believe that a majority of the people this year will be so pro-China that they will ignore most of the others and that the Chinese team will be treated better than the rest, it's just a fact of life

  • the o and the i are right next to each other, no need to go crazy

  • 1:00 is absolutely beautiful

  • absolutely, is it Gina Gogean??

  • im not sure

  • it just amazes me that Dominque competed against Svetlana!

  • Loved the video! Brought back memories of watching them perform when I was younger and truly understanding what the olympics are all about.

  • Thankyou to all of you for your nice words. Many people have requested the title of the music and if you read the comments you will see thAT question has been answered already. Thanks

  • oops sorry i didn't see! XD thanks

  • Yes i'd really like to know the name of this song as well

  • I loved the song! :) What is the name of it?

  • i wanna know too!

  • its in the description

'My name is Lincoln' by Steve Jablonsky

  • It gave me goosebumps, I liked the choice of music

  • ok

    2 questions:

    Is the person at:

    :38 :43 :46 1:00 1:05 1:24 1:31 1:54 2:14 2:15 2:18 2:35 2:37 and 2:40

    all the same person?

    If so, who is it?

If not, who is the person at 2:14

and where else does she show up?

    Thanks!!

  • No they are not the same person.

    Dominique Moceanu at: :38, :46, 1:24, 1:54, 2:35, 2:37, 2:40

    Shannon Miller at: :20, :43, 2:14, 2:15, 2:18.

she is also on 2:22 (gold medal beam) and 3:30 most right on the podium)

1:00 Romanian (gina Gogean??) 1:05 romanian 1:31 Lavinia Milosevici (smiles) and svetlana boginskaya (white)

to answer your question at 2:14 is Shannon Miller, my alltime favourite gymnast, America"s most decorated gymnast ever (men or women)

  • This was such an amazing video. I loved it from start to finish. I was so close to crying. It is definently one of the best videos i have ever seen. Good Job!

    :D

  • oh gosh, there were so many great gymnasts at this olympics. beautiful footage of lilia so emotional at the awards ceremony, and that gold medal kiss to her grandmother who died just weeks before lilia won. she used to say how she wished to see lilia on the podium, and if she had lived 30 days more, her wish would have come true, isn't that sad. dom moceanu who was very talented!

  • amazing video. :´)

  • Great! Who win the team final?

  • USA

  • Beautiful, but why was the most beautiful Lilia Podkopayeva only shoved in there at the end?! With the all around and floor golds and silver on beam, I would have thought she was 1996's biggest star!

Plus, her compulsory floor was by far the best of anybody's - it would have been nice to see some more of that (seeing as you used lots of footage of the compulsory floor routines).

  • Def one of the best i've seen! I always love seeing team USA up there it brings a smile to my face cause i know that will happen again next year!

  • ...and so emotional..

    marinescu case,that beautifoul girl moceanu...

    and this music.....great job

  • atlanta...oh....

    lilia podkopayeva...

    whatta ballerina....

    georgeous

  • that was fan. it made me want to cry

  • that was really really good, it made me want to cry.

  • song name please?

  • The song's called 'My name is Lincoln' by Steve Jablonsky from 'The Island' soundtrack

  • Atlanta, so much beautiful memories that is when I became a gymnastics fan!

Back then gymnastics were simpler and much more beautiful...

    Loved your montage

  • No way thats exactly the same for me,

Im not american but the atlanta olympics were so uber-glamorous...the finale of all gymnastics, from then...it went down...

  • Love it. <3

  • Love this montage. Love practically all of your montages!

  • favorited!

  • it's so funny to see khorkina jumping and clapping when the score came up...

  • anyways...back to what the hell is the song's name? haha

  • perfect clip and music at 3:04. the image was so powerful when you see the ukraine's flag went up along with 3 romanians (the romanians were so consistent compared to U.S., Russian and Chinese)

  • Sorry for my english, I've wrong: How is called?

  • no worries! you do fine =]you can just say "what's it called" Thanks for the help!!

  • that is a beautiful montage! you picked the perfect clip at 1:40! its amazing! whats the move at 1:46 called? does anyone know?

  • Yes, what's called? It's a strange double back, but have not a back jump, but a layout.. strange!

  • the move was just simply a single double layout back that emphazizes more on the kick in mid-air. (it was a compulsory move in 1996)

  • thanks a lot! do people still do it?

  • Beautiful

  • svetlana khorkina's awesome. she is just so graceful.

  • wow, beautiful. song name?

  • beautiful montage!

  • What a beautiful video!

  • whats the name of the song???

  • Love it, you did a wonderful job picking clips and the music is perfect.
