The problem I have with that argument is the idea that God would make him to be what is pretty clearly spelled out in scripture as unacceptable. I think we read too much into music. The fact that he sang nice songs didn't mean anything about his life. Truth is, only God knows what we are doing and what we are thinking at a particular point.

I love this song. I think it's awesome that Ray has been able to come out. I know many people think it's a sin, but I don't believe that. You can quote scripture to me, but I have read books from theologians stating homosexuality is wrong and I've read that it is ok, in the context of a same sex monogamous relationship. I've only just found out about Ray in the last few minutes. I've listened to his music for years, and I still have a cassette tape or 2 of his. I just know when I saw the song "Feel The Nails" which has always done something to my heart and has always brought tears to my eyes, I thought "I haven't heard that song in years". It was my mothers favorite song to perform, and when i listen to it now that she's gone, i don't hear Ray Boltz, i hear my mother, and know her motives for choosing and singing that song. this song gave her hope, and everytime she sang it, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
WE sang this beautiful song at our youth group. After i heard it, it was hard not to be in tears. You give your life to Christ, and yurn to live and satisfy him. But you fail, and it is really disturbing to think that he is hurt that we denied him or disobeyed him.

Read Lev. 4:13 (and surrounding versus), you'll see that an offering had to be made, which acknowledges our 'Sins committed in ignorance". Interesting read. I think we read too much into music. The fact that he sang nice songs didn't mean anything about his life. Truth is, only God knows what we are doing and what we are thinking at a particular point.

To shadowgwm, if you read God's Word, not theologians, it's pretty clear that homosexuality is in fact a sin -- just like gossip, pride, hatred, and the list goes on. Only when we see our sin will we begin resist it. Still, God loves each one of us, right in the midst of denying Him or our sins. I love this song. I think it's awesome that Ray has been able to come out. I know many people think it's a sin, but I don't believe that. You can quote scripture to me, but I have read books from theologians stating homosexuality is wrong and I've read that it is ok, in the context of a same sex monogamous relationship. (cont) I was not born gay , circumstances in my life drove me down that path. during those years I did not date girls ,I was attracted to men , why , because they were more friendly to me. I think if you look back down your life you will find what made you choose to be gay. There was something that happened maybe not dramatic but maybe only being a loner or something . I've only just found out about Ray in the last few minutes. I've listened to his music for years, and I still have a cassette tape or 2 of his. I just know when I saw the song "Feel The Nails" which has always done something to my heart and has always brought tears to my eyes, I thought "I haven't heard that song in years". Ray, we all love you, but nobody loves you like Jesus. I wonder if Jesus still feels the nails every time I fail? Jesus, please forgive me and all of us and help us all.

regardless of anyones feelings on the singer or the politics of this song, it speaks true spiritual pain. this person honestly feels pain himself for diverting from the ways of Christ. It was my mothers favorite song to perform, and when i listen to it now that she's gone, i don't hear Ray Boltz, i hear my mother, and know her motives for choosing and singing that song. this song gave her hope, and everytime she sang it, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

WE sang this beautiful song at our youth group. After i heard it, it was hard not to be in tears. You give your life to Christ, and yurn to live and satisfy him. But you fail, and it is really disturbing to think that he is hurt that we denied him or disobeyed him.
There is full forgiveness in the cross. That is what 3 children learned at that meeting

we all know that God loves us unconditionally, everlasting and graciously, no matter who we are or what we have done. We have to change our old ways and tear off the "old skin" and become new. That doesn't mean we won't or can't try and imagine what it must have been like for him. God provided us with that ability for a reason.

Most christians, especially backsliders were drawn to repentance when they realized what pain, anguish and sufferings, Jesus had to go through on the way to die on the cross, SO forgiveness and redemption is available. Christ doesn't feel "pain" when a human sins. But there is nothing wrong with utilizing a metaphorical lyric to bring attention to sin and the sacrifice which was made by Christ to redeem us from that sin....The Bible is FULL of metaphor and we do not disclaim it for that reason.

@YeshuaShai I disagree. The Bible states that God will wipe away all tears and that we shall feel no more pain yes, but not until the 2nd coming of Christ. And at the time of me typing this, that has not happened yet... And besides, in the song, it asks if He still feels the nails, not that he DOES feel the nails... I believe the point of the song is to get us to think we before we do something we know will disappoint God, or cause Him shame.

It is called "grieving his Spirit". The song is about Ray's struggle with sin and his own hurt. We can only pray for Ray that he will turn to God's word and apply it to his life.
