  • I'm ahuge fan of kenneth! I really wanna meet him sometime!

  • @WiltzzRobbie I've been a fan for years, and seen him twice on stage. I got to meet him last month and he's a true gentleman!

  • @Titaniacy ohh u're so lucky!!! sadly I live in Indonesia.. which is really far from Hollywood :( where and how did u meet him last month?

  • @WiltzzRobbie I got to meet him in Belfast! Saw him on-stage in the 'Painkiller'!

  • @Titaniacy damn that's nice.. well I guess I'll just wait till the time I'll actually meet him -_- (sad)

  • This was lovely. Just started watching the Wallander series after enjoying the books. Branagh is great in this role, maybe a little too pretty (compared to the character as described in the books & actor in the original Swedish adaptation). However, I'm not complaining! I think he looks damn sexy in this slightly disheveled look. I agree with the person who commented about wanting to give him a hug...and maybe a squeeze while I'm at it! ;-)

  • Kenneth Branagh is a Shakespeare of film but what the ... happened with Thor ?

  • Stumbled on this show by accident and I am glad I did. Branagh can act and the writing was great. Bravo to you for this

  • @Nails308 I'm glad you enjoyed it! It really is a great show. Fantastic acting and beautiful scenery!

  • as a result of this show whenever I see Branagh I jsut want to give him a massive hug

  • Oh how I wish he was sporting the bleach blonde hair again.

But man, this man looks good.

  • This is a great show! Being an average person I can relate to Kurt Wallander! Kenneth Branagh is great!

  • is it more like Frost or more like Spooks?

  • @floortje86 It's definitely not like Spooks. Spooks is about the MI5 and how they save the world. Wallander is more like Midsomer Murders with a bit of added drama with Wallander's life (the character)'. It's more of a mystery series, where you have to figure out who's the killer.

  • @floortje86 Having a think now, it's actually a little similar to the tv series "the fixer", just without the gangs and everything to do with london.

  • Just got through watching "The Fifth Woman", another great installment in the series. Branagh was magnificent as always. Nice vid tribute Titan.

  • Everyone is well chosen for this series....Branagh does some his finest acting. I have never seen the Swedish version but i'm sure it must be amazing judging from my fascination with Ingmar Bergman films.

  • @taildragger53 You wont find anything Bergmanish in the Swedish versions of Wallander. Im Dutch but currently live in Sweden. If you say to a Swede you like Bergman you suffer the risk of getting abused. This tidious bermanish style doesnt exist anylonger in sweden.

  • @cornelia695 Tedious? That's a shame you see it that way because Ingmar Bergman is regarded as one of the FINEST ever and the main influence of people like Woody Allen, PT Anderson, Robert Altman and many, many others.

His work attracted some of the greatest movie stars ever..e.g. Ingrid Bergman in "Autumn Sonata". One doesn't have to be Swedish to appreciate Bergman but one DOES has to have a level of maturity instead of the ability to hurl abuse.. This is NOT MY opinion ..go check.

  • @cornelia695

Again as far as Ingmar Bergman being "tedious" is concerned... Changes in attiitude towards what is regarded as CLASSIC by well informed journalists & critics over a 80 year period is an indication, to me, that maybe we don't have the capacity to THINK on a human level anymore. It's typical of this "Reality Show" generation and its a SAD fact. Film director Mike Leigh, who is also a Bergman fan, would agree and a winner of MANY film awards.

  • @taildragger53 I know a Swedish man who worked four years in USA. Each time an American asked where he came from and he replied Sweden. Americans made fun of him sayin" another person from that tedious Bergman country"after a while he never revaled he was Swedish and instead said he came from Bulgaria After that Americans became more friendly and stopped asking questions.

  • i liked your video. Well done. I'm glad to be able to watch Wallander on my local PBS station. I've liked eveything Kenneth Branagh has been in.

  • oh, really you have chosen wonderful scenes. I like Kenneth Branagh. You have chosen moments where he could show all his feelings, all his moments of his art of acting a very clever but also sensitive detective who can seldom be found. Yes, I agree, he needs to be hugged, he is so cute and he needs to be respected for his decent authority. Thank you, Kenneth, thank you Titaniacy

  • You cost me 79p as I had to download this song from I Tunes!! It's fab and Ken looks amazing!! Love it!! xxx

  • The more I watch him, the more I believe Kenneth Branagh can do anything. Great choice of song, I love this video

  • @MrQuiara1 Thanks for your kind words!

  • @MrQuiara1 Hi I also watched the Wallander trbute video from Titaniacy. Certainly a job well done.

You kindly offered the Wallander ring tone ? I would welcome a set if you still have them. Thank you.

  • Anyone looking for the ringtone from Wallander, I can send it to them. The original, and the edited one, without the 'beep-beep' at the end.

  • good job;)

  • Terrific content and excellent editing

  • @attittood I'm glad you appreciated it.

  • cool...........

  • Ilove the story of Henning Mankells Kurt Wallander! Wallander is the best of all !!!

  • @Sibadd Branson? Don't you mean Branagh?

  • I heard that Kenneth Brannagh would be great in this role...but after I watched sidetracked for the very first time I was sooo blown away by this awesome performance!!!!!

  • @timemperorable i so love this programme.Brannagh does justice to Mankell`s character.

  • Thanks for the post Titanicy. I love the series and music, and KB is great in it. My hubby wants to know how come Wallander always has 2 days stubble? These are serious issues!

  • reelkoala, I did exactly the same thing. I caught Wallander on PBS last year and loved it. Branagh turned me into a Wallander fan and I immediately started reading the novels by Mankell. The new shows have already aired in England, and the DVD is available for purchase there as well. Of course you need a region free DVD player to view it here in the states. I will probably wait for it to be released in the USA before purchasing, but can't wait to see them on PBS hopefully soon.

  • I'm a huge fan of ken and the series. Branagh inspired me to make my way through Mankell's books, which are wonderful! I can't wait for the second series to make it to the states on PBS!!! Does anyone know when this might be? I can't seem to find an answer.

  • That same like in my imagine!!!Great!!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D

  • Kenneth is more Wallander than the real Wallander. But he always plays more... That's cool

  • That bit of 'thinking woman's crumpet' aka Ken Branagh came into the Rugby branch of Woolworths when I worked there in the late 1990s! What a guy!! He must live on pick and mix as he bought about £70 worth of it. As far as Wallender goes, it's as slow moving as a Scandinavian iceberg, but Ken makes up for it!!

  • Looks great! Glad it was the Brits and not the Yanks that made a remake! Only small worry I have is that today I read that they will make more episodes but all will not be based on Mankells writning. But, still, it could have been worse. Much worse! Have to check them out :)

On a side note, I checked through alot of the original Swedish Wallander DVD's and they are all just subtitled in the nordic languages I'm afraid :(

  • Google DCI Stark

    Detective Chief Inspector Stark

  • This is a very well done video!

I love Kenneth Branagh as Wallander, and the cinematography of the series is just so beautiful. Cannot wait for series 3!

  • PROFESSOR LOCKHART!

  • Love this, anyone know how to see the Swedish version with english subtitles?

there is a Wallander facebook group with a good selection of videos on it and a detailed synopsis of the show for anyone wanting to get an idea of that Wallander is all about.

  • I loved the English version, Branagh's performances were amazing, does anyone know if there are going to be any more episodes after the second series?

  • Yes, a 3rd series has been commissioned :)

  • Really, how did you hear that? thats great news.

  • The English version totally ruined it. Hearing Swedish names pronounced with an English accent makes me cringe. They are all good actors, specially Kenneth, but it wasn't a good idea to do an English version of this film. What for? It totally eliminates the essence of Wallander. What a pity.

  • I understand completely- I read the books first, then saw the Swedish version shortly afterwards. But to say the English version had ruined Wallander may not be the case. Obviously the pronounciation is wrong but it must be seen as funny or even charming- an interpretation if you must. I think its nice for those people who cannot read- Plus Kenneth I think captures more of a feeling of dispair and helpnessless in keeping with the books.

But you can't knock the Swedes.

  • Love KB, love the show, love the vid.

  • oh, this is beautiful!

i really liked this a lot.

  • I love this!

  • Just seen the first Wallander movie on TV, Channel 4 (TV 4) here in Sweden. I must say - it was really very good. Very well done! I´m glad that the story in the movie followed the book - "Villospår", or in english, "Sidetracked". This is not always the case with the swedish movies. A little bit strange to see familiar swedish police cars, uniforms and swedish environments, but I think this merged together with all the british, because of excellent acting and a very good story.

  • Inspector Morse has an old Jaguar, so why can't Wallender drive around in a classic car. Volvo Amazon or P1800?

A bloody Volvo estate. no no .

  • I think Kenneth Branagh is great and I love this series however I have to admit that I prefer the Swedish series staring Krister Henriksson. KH's Wallander is less dramatic and and his relationship with his daughter (excellently played by Johanna Salistrom) is more spikey. Also of course it's in Swedish which is more natural.

    Anyway thanks for video.

  • has the series been succesful in brittian? I heard that the books were doing well.

  • It has been a success though not in the manner of "Britain's Got Talent" (We Brits like bad food and bad television). I thought it was fabulous and would be delighted if they made more.

  • Speak for yourself. Go travelling if you think British television is bad. You obviously choose to watch trash. Kenneth Branagh is as fine an actor you can find. British drama and documentaries are exceptional.

  • ops there it is, hehe;)

  • Man, I love this guy...the actor the character, everything;) Great tribute! wats the song? love it!

  • Wallander is the bomb. I love Kenneth Branagh in this series. I've never seen him play a role like this before. No frills, or fanfare. He's just a full on Dilf!

  • Nice tribute. When I first read the books (in Swedish), the first actor to play the role that sprang to my mind was Rolf Lassgard, who eventually did the first series. He was to me perfect as the brroding Wallander. Then came the Henrikson series, which was quite o.k. allthough Henrikson does not manage to fill Lassgards footsteps. I was quite excited to see Branagh, one of my fav. actors take over the role in a Scottish/British production. It was worth every minute of waiting. Excellent!

  • Yep... he is...quite sexy....

  • I cant quite put my finger on it, but God is he HOT

  • Wallander :P

  • anyone know where to find the soundtrack/music from this series? (not the Emily Barker song coz ive found that already). Thanks

  • Nice vid

    What's this song?

  • I really loved his Hamlet.

  • anyone think branagh is hot in a brooding english gent kinda way?!

  • HELL YEAH!!!

  • I raise your HELL YEAH! Why did you think I made this video in the first place??

  • Kenneth Brannagh isn't English. He's from Ireland, born and bred. He's from Belfast actually. However, i do agree with the brooding aspect of your comment. :)

  • Does anyone know if the BBC is going to make another series?

  • There have been rumors of filming 3 more epis after Branagh finishes 'Thor' but nothing's certain.

  • Anyone know if they also show this version in Sweden?

  • I sertany hope so!

There is a swedish kulture programe, Kobra, which will talk about this wersion of wallander on tuseday the 12/3.

  • They don't. I just got aware of it today while I was surfing :P

  • No, it has not been shown here in Sweden yet, but we´re really looking forward to it. As you perhaps know already, Midsummer murders, Foyles war, Morse, Lindley, Tennison (and many others) are very popular here in Sweden. And now, a british version of our own Wallander, made in Ystad, Malmö and other parts of southern Skåne/Scania. Wow!! We are surprised, expectant and flattered. Hope you will like it in Britain.

  • I don't know about England, but we got in on Masterpiece in the US and I loved it! The photography is really creative and, as always, Ken Brannagh is fantastic. He portrayed Wallander in such a way that I felt like I could get inside his head and understand his thought.

I love Foyle's War! They're bringing it back to Masterpiece this summer and I'm very excited about it. I hope they bring back Lynley in the fall, but I'm not holding my breath. Oh, you might like Murder City.

  • you can get them as movies, not on tv thou

  • This is a wonderful series, I can't imagine anyone better fitted for the role than Branagh. I really feel for him. And Tom Hiddleston as Martinsson is HONEY.

  • Does anyone know who the female singer / band is who features on the Wallander tv series opening credits?

  • Emily Barker's 'Nostalgia' is the song of the opening credits!

  • i haven't seen the english wallander, just the swedish, love them though.

    RIP johanna

  • I came to your profile trough a Colbert video, then what a great surprise to find a great video like this.Awesome job.Hugs and sorry for the awful English.

  • Fantastic vid! Thanks for the link on the kenfriends list :O)

  • What a brilliant video. Once the last episode airs, I'm going to have a go at making my own video. And yes, he does need a big hug. Great job, well done.

  • I think we all will watch it with pleasure!

  • Oohh what I want BBC! Thank you for posting this, now I could see at least a lttle bit of the show... Nice work!

  • This is one addictive video! I've watched it sooo many times...

  • Beat me to it, Titaniacy! Absolutely brilliant, and he reminded me of his theory of flight performance too. Well done!

  • Yeah!! Kenny!!

  • great video, and the song is really lovely!

  • omg this is so strange! I've followed the original swedish series and it is so awkward to hear wallander, a swedish police, speaking english. hahaha! strange...

  • I feel like he needs a big hug. I love this combination of vulnerable, sad, down-trodden, thoughtful. Reminds me of his role in "Theory of Flight" - I thought, there is the real Ken. Thanks so much for posting this, you put this together well. I love the music, the eyes do say it all! Thanks mom63423 for recommending it. Can't wait till it is available in the US, hopefully on DVD soon.

  • haha yeah that was my reaction, just wanna give the guy a hug and say it'll all get better. Great video and a great series, hopefully they'll film some more episodes at a later date.

  • Oh, wonderful! I love it (and him)!
