This game was so full of innovation: Bodies could be realisticly dismembered, severity of blows was based on the overall momentum of the weapon (i.e. turning and running could make you improve your hit) as opposed to some set value, fight moves were configurable, all characters were fully developed and playable in arena mode etc. Such a shame that that year game design took a turn for graphics over game play.

Also, the main character here was hilarious :)

@monkeynade126 You proved how you don't understand what damage modelling means. It means realism-aspiring physical accuracy. Not Left 4 Dead type of forgiving just looks that way thing.

Die by the Sword wasn't designed like all the other games ever made.

@monkeynade126 The main thing is that Left 4 Dead doesn't have a model where each hit cause a direct mark.

That system is hitpoints based too and is preprogrammed - the zombies brake up in pre-set animation, but at the wrong point of damage. In Die by the Sword the leg broke suffieciently at the right spot where the waving sword hit.

All modern and biggest shooters don't even bother to make anything like this. Somehow 'we the consumers' don't want it.

@Mastran77 I don't know about that man. My PC is 7 years old, and it looks bad even on that thing. I just bought this at GOG and the graphics are on par with the Sega Saturn. There's a mod that allows you to enable anti-aliasing which makes it look SO much better. (in fact I believe antialiasing is used in HenriTheHammer's video). I'm loving this game though. I should've bought this instead of a Wii.

Man, you just make all of the awesome kills. But your right, new games (except maybe Dead Space) don't compare because they are generic and dying is always a negative. Dying in this game and Dead Space is usually quite...interesting. The game here was well made, the graphics are livable, considering, who cares about them? The gameplay is sweet, graphics don't matter if you aren't able to totally rip stuff ti shreds with a sword.
