@fyphfoko You should read up on seat belts. They are designed to stretch under the immense force of deceleration. This slows you down at a "manageable" level. This doesn't necessarily apply at very high speeds, as the force becomes too great; however, at these speeds, you are considerably more likely to survive wearing a seat belt than not.
But you don't go quite so far forward as you would without a seatbelt, so presumably there's less force and the arteries don't rip out of your heart like in this charming little film?
Basically, the idea is that in a crash the car stops first, then your body stops, then your internal organs (after your broken ribs have torn through your heart etc.)

I couldn't help but notice that the "Think!" ident contained an echo of the "Clunk Click" series of seatbelt PIFs. I halfway expect to see a remark of "Daddy would have done his nut" soon.
They should of just stuck with this one. I saw the post-9pm one after Ponderland on Channel 4...jeez, what's wrong with just sticking to your mental picture of such things? That's bad enough...stupid people must thought that the public were so thick they didn't know what ribs, lungs and a heart looked like.
In short, this is fine! But they should of completely stuck with this version, PIFs were made to scare people but what they did with the post-9pm version is like saying "Fuck you, squeems!"
