@dancergirlmh Most cats can and prefer to, sure. But your premise is wrong. Not all cats are wild. And wildness doesn't determine how well they can give birth on their own. Disease, malnutrition and other complications do not magically go away if a cat is wild. (Quite the opposite, really.)
This guy is just giving people free, potentially life-saving advice. In no way is he forcing people to take his advice, so I don't see the problem. Surely it doesn't warrant all-caps freak outs ...
@BlueUncia I wasn't freaking out, I was pointing out an issue that you city slickers don't understand. If cats live in the wild, or in house, they still have instincts we humans cannot understand. One instinct is to take care of themselves and their young. If they live in a house, this instinct is dormant, and is reawakened when they are about to give birth. Cats in the wild, may not always have food, But they find a way to take care of themselves. It means 99% of the time, they don't need help.
@dancergirlmh I'm glad you're adding nuances to your points now. But I still don't understand why you feel so strongly about this. I get the feeling you and this vet are talking about two different things (and I watched this video three times now; I really think he's just trying to be helpful).
I thought you might be more upset about some breeders these days. Some (not all) breeders have caused damage to entire lines. Did you know some Singapura cats can only give birth via c-section now?
@BlueUncia I know, I spent 8 years studying animals. I am pissed at people who let their cats breed constantly, and at breeders. Very irresponsible. It takes a hundred dollars to get your cat fixed, 50 if its a male.
@dancergirlmh Couldn't agree more. Cat breeds aren't as bad off as some dogs breeds are today. Not yet. But if I ever see a cat that looks (and wheezes) like an English Bulldog, that'll be the day I lost all faith in breeders.
@dancergirlmh tigers are wild, lions are wild, ocelots are wild, sand cats are wild... this vet is talking about DOMESTIC CATS (Felis catus domesticus), which is not wild 'cause has been selected by the man for lots of years.
My cat's very first kitten got stuck in the birth canal Agusut 2, 2009. We had to make a 45-minute run to the clinic in Greenville at 3:30 in the morning for an emergency c-section. He didn't make it, but his five brothers and mama did.
@Qwalkson Actually, you're allergic to the dander. More specifically, you're allergic to chemicals in the cat's saliva. When cats clean themselves (lick themselves) their saliva gets onto their fur, and this eventually comes off their fur into the air called dander. The more fur a cat has, the more dander they produce into the air. Therefore, a long haired cat > short haired cat > hairless cat in terms of allergy reactions. Most people will not have allergic reactions to a hairless cat.
Also never give your cat the cat pill! It's the cat version of the human contraceptive. We used to give our cat that because our vet had told us it wouldn't hurt. In the end our cat ended up pregnant after all, we stopped the treatment asap when we noticed. She had only one kitten, which was huge, born dead. She had a lot of trouble to give birth and needed our help. Afterwards she had her womb removed as her entire womb was infected. So NEVER use cat pills!
i already have a male persian cat and we're thinking about bringing a female one because we want to have kittens!!!
persian kittens . i'm sorry but i go mad when i here or see something about kittens i really really love them. i whish i had all the cats/kittens of the world . oh how adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
8!!! awesome!!!! haha, but they are gonna be fighting A LOT, cuz they cant all find milk, i mean they can, but yea, lol, when she has them, will u tell me how many she has?? lol
most likely it's free if you have your own vet if not may be 10 to 30$ if your living in the US (which I'm pretty sure you are) depends on how bad it is. and some times if your late your cat will have to get your kittens medicley removed. But most likely 20$. It dosn't really matter on the cost it cares about your kitten's and cat's heath. =)

Sir, Cats are made to be wild animals. Queens are made to birth by themselves... THEY DO NOT NEED OUR HELP!!
dancergirlmh 9 months ago
@dancergirlmh Yeah, who does he think he is? A vet!?
;)
BlueUncia 7 months ago
@BlueUncia Seriously, cats are wild, they can give birth alone. I don't care IF he is a vet.

@Christie761 if you are alergic to cats, your alergic to the skin particles not the fur. so a hareless cat is not the option :(.
