@TheAndyBOfficial yea smart battling on record, this is exactly what is missing in hip hop. Subliminals thrown back and forth to keep the fans engaged with every album or song...
@RAthaPunisher ya I'm not denying that 90s was the golden age, but there are some rappers out now that BDK couldn't touch lyrically. People like Ken Starr, Wax, The Palmer Squares, An0maly are just lyrically advanced, and yes they are all pretty much underground. And MC Juice would destroy Kane in a battle haha, but hes a 90's rapper kinda. He battled in the 90s, but most of his tapes and albums were released after 2000.
@UgliestGuyEver I feel ya there are real lyrical MC's underground but not as well rounded as Kane or Rakim they have the whole package, the epitome of a true, well rounded emcee feel me
YO!!! I had the BEST EXPERIENCE EVER as a teacher!!!! ONE DAY, I was running late to class (Teaching Health Ed.). The year was 1990 or '91 I forget! ANYWAY, BRYANT (student) and ADAM (student) had the entire class JAMMING TO THIS SONG!!! Please understand, they had no music, it was all improv and Bryant was Big Daddy Kane, and Adam provided all the beats, as the CLASS WENT OFF!!!!! All I could do is give them their props.
Old school rap is good and everything, but there are some new rappers that are light years ahead of this. And notice I said SOME, and no I don't mean Wiz, Mac Miller, or J. Cole. I'm just saying tht people who only listen to old school stuff and ignore anything new are missing out
@UgliestGuyEver not even put em' in a battle Kane will rip them a new asshole maybe only underground rappers can compete with Kane but only "maybe" 90's MC's definitely had skills to compete with 80's MC's cause 85-99 Golden Age of Hip-Hop so much skill during that time only some are as well rounded MC's as Kane
We used to chill & go ape on Kane ! I dig the fact that 14 yo kids are relatin' to these jams ! Now gonna go to Lovebug Starsky - Say what you wanna say.. Old school lives !!
damn im 17 been listening to oldschool rap since i was maybe 9 my mom used to have a yo mtv raps casset i member playing it over n over then we got a computer n i became a hip hop junkie always studing the art n listening
@pamonicutt10 keep it that way, you have a unique taste for hip hop that your school will never understand, the last thing you want to do is try having to explain to them who he is anyway. Let them figure it out on their own...
Its a pleasure to actually hear a bloke MCing properly as oppossed to all these modern day rappers all addicted to rhyming gibberish. Take notes amatuers

I first heard Big Daddy Kane back in June 1987 (Rhymin with the Biz). It was a summer night in Breukelene Houses(Canarsie,Brooklyn) and the radio was playing Rakim's Paid In Full Album the whole day. The first verse that Kane said was, "Well It's the Kane in the Flesh. Of Course I'm fresh. Oh, you thought that I was rotten. Huh, I beg your pardon." I was floored! No one was saying stuff like this. "Set It Off" proves it! If he is not the Greatest then he is in the Top 3!
@DrizzyDrakeIsGod why did u even mention kool g and no offence 2 wayne or drake cos they do ther own thing but if any1 of them battled against kool g they wuld b left tryin 2 catch ther breath as kool g wuld just unleash a monster multisyllabic 16 bar verse all in 1 breath that wuld destroy them
I used to blast the hell out of this in my first car. Two 8s and a 6x9 screamin'. I didn't have a whole lot, but I didn't care. This song demanded to be pumped up!
@moshezz kinda hard to decide who's the best, impossible. Different styles through different times, well obviously newschool posers like gayne doesn't deserve shit but oldies like kane, krs-one, kool moe dee, run dmc, rakim, epmd, ll cool j, tupac, biggie, gangstarr, havoc, prodigy, ice cube, nas, bone thugs n harmony, twista, canibus, public enemy, bdp and so much more, can you really choose between them? :)
I was watching the "Sex Dungeon" documentary and one of the captives played this song with the captor dancing to it..

I used to blast the hell out of this in my first car. Two 8s and a 6x9 screamin'. I didn't have a whole lot, but I didn't care. This song demanded to be pumped up!

@nhollowayiii I feel you on that one. I had 2 twelves, two 6x9's, two tweeters and a house amp in the trunk of my 1978 Bonneville...Awww yeah. SMH

@XXARGRRR but rza is a real deep guy
moshezz 10 months ago
@moshezz kinda hard to decide who's the best, impossible. Different styles through different times, well obviously newschool posers like gayne doesn't deserve shit but oldies like kane, krs-one, kool moe dee, run dmc, rakim, epmd, ll cool j, tupac, biggie, gangstarr, havoc, prodigy, ice cube, nas, bone thugs n harmony, twista, canibus, public enemy, bdp and so much more, can you really choose between them? :)
